With the change in the weather you can get away with warm drinks that have very little to no acohol in them and still be festive. I know that Eggface has an eggnog protein shake recipe, and you can have mulled cider. I personally do not care for the taste of alcohol except for mead, port, and this one rhine wine I had in Germany. When you said what's your poison, i thought this was going to be a discussion of our drug of choice, food. Mine was and is grilled cheese. I have zero control around grilled cheese, fresh bread with butter, and chocolate.

Not to hijack but I see you changed your profile pic MLiPink! DAYYYUMM!! -
A dehydrator, and a spiral slicer, and a Vitamix or Blendtec, are investments I can't make right now

If I'm going to go for crunchy snack and remain cognizant of nutrition, I go for dulse or kale chips.

Two weeks from Plastics - progress so far
Globetrotter replied to CowgirlJane's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Can we see a picture of you in the garments from hades? I hear so much about them that I am curious ... At first I thought, "oh I don't really see a difference before and after" Then I looked at the before pics!!!!! WOAH!! Your arms make me want to weep with hope, all I want is to be able to wear something sleeveless with dignity and to wear pants without the humiliating front butt. -
Has anyone else noticed that when you drink warm soup that you stay satiated longer, have less of an appetite, and stay full? It's brilliant, plus the best part is that you are barely taking in any calories; I recently made a soup from beef bone broth, a few ounces of shredded steak, cabbage, mushrooms, onions, carrots, and a tiny splash of V8. I was experimenting and made all of this in my electric kettle. A cup of this soup is maybe 30 calories! And it tastes better with every passing day, win!

Pain in esophugus after revision...
Globetrotter replied to angelia75's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Yeah my body was getting rid of those toxis for at least 3 weeks, the gas, the anaesthesia, the pain meds, and oohwhee I stank! I had to be on a PPI immediately, some don't. -
So as you know I am deployed and have to get quite creative if I want to eat anything beyond the fried garbage at the difac. I have one of those electric water kettles for tea, oddly enough they are difficult to find in the States but ubiquitous in Europe ... anyway, I don't like the sodium but using a half can of V-8 is brilliant because its basically vegetable stock in a tomato broth. Once a week we get "steak", so I shred up the steak. That one time there were mushrooms in the salad bar and I loaded up but the kinds of veggies we get, except for cabbage, are not dependable. The bouillon I use is called "Better than Bouillon" and it is organic and real and awesome. I throw everything in my kettle and boil!

I just randomly came up with seven pounds . The person who made the strong statement to me regarding multitasking while using machines was a trainer who was shall we say, hyper intense. At the end of our challenge we might decide to go double or nothing through November

How was your 5:2 day today?

Disordered eating .... yes. wow. Now that I am on this super restricted diet of the Wahl's Protocol I have to find something to do with my hands and mind, like a person trying to quit smoking. So I'm painting, sewing, I think I've hemmed every single pair of pants I have! Now I'm moving on to putting darts and vents in my shirts. Day 2 of taking Miralax and nothing :/ Also, I triumphed over the crackers last night, only to fall prey to the sunflower seeds v_v very disappointed in myself. -
I was told that those who read or watch tv while doing cardio machines might as well be sitting on the couch, you unwittingly keep your heart rate lower by multitasking like that and aren't reaping any benefits. My ex-bf and I are doing a challenge right now, we gave ourselves 30 days and whomever loses the most weight in that time gets $50 worth of whatever they want. He is a male in his early 20's so I got him to agree to giving me a 7 pound lead, to make up for his unfair advantange!

talk to your doc but it sounds like acid and also maybe the release of the gases they use to puff up your abdomen during surgery, was it laprascopic? -
Kale chips ARE where it's at, I'm still trying to figure out how to make my own without them turning black and wafer thin Cool ranch is my fave. Have you tried dried dulse/sea vegetables? satisfyingly salty and crunchy.

what about ricing cauliflower? I'm trying to find a way to get a single machine, rather than a blender, a food processor, and a mixer.

No blade? So can it only do smoothies? Not mincing etc?

Feed and CGJane - and maybe this goes out to everyone: I think we need to stop using the word "gain" to reflect the pound here and the pound there. Words are powerful, especially loaded words like gain. Feed, you exerted yourself, sweated, causing a chemical need for more salts, which you satisfied. Also, worked muscles are muscles that are now full of water. So what you experienced there was a physiological reaction to muscle stress and physical exertion, NOT A GAIN. words are powerful. It's not a gain unless a non-ToM week goes by and the pound is still there. This is why I haven't weighed myself in almost 2 weeks, because I know the nefarious tricks my body enjoys, I know how I put on exactly four pounds of water weight every single month and have for 20 years (sweet jesus 20 years?!!!) and that the day after my cycle is over, those pounds are gone too. Words are powerful. Yesterday was supposed to be a fast day, and it was beautifully so at barely 600 cals, until nighttime when the crackers attacked. What the EFF is wrong with me?!! Yes I can blame ToM but come on! I inhaled about 12 Keebler club crackers which completely threw away my hard work. Stupid crackers. And I'm so sick of greens, I had a dream (nightmare?) that I was travelling down a highway PAVED WITH LETTUCE. I can't eat nightshades, or corn/soy/wheat, sugar is out and even stevia has to be sparingly. I need organ meats but yeah that's easy to get ..... (sarcasm) seaweed or iodine bearing foods I need, also need Vitamin D in mass quantities. No starch. And I need fiber, but I can't eat most of the foods that have fiber!! I'm eating quest bars daily now, gritting my teeth regarding the high carbs, because they are 23g fiber each and I can't pass that up. Caved in last night and took some Miralax. So far nothing. V_V -
Somebody sent me a mini packet of vegan raw coconut butter, I have nothing to spread it on so - I put it in my hair and used it to take off my makeup! I smell like a macaroon but it works!!

If you want the nutrition of nuts they need to be raw, once they are roasted they are just tasty carbs, all the nutrition is gone.

IBS After Being Sleeved
Globetrotter replied to Lulu5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 yrs post-op and have recently been diagnosed with IBS, I seem to go alternating weeks of non-stop diarrhea and frustrating constipation. In the last 11 days I have had 3 BMs and they weren't totally satisfying. I hesitate to break out the Miralax, I take flaxseed every day and nothing. But two weeks ago, I was going 4-5 times a day, quarts and quarts (sorry) of diarrhea. I eat clean, lots of veggies, fish, green tea, no sugar, no starch. Help! -
What about adding it to soup? Pointless?
-
How do I make it into a moisturizer that will absorb and won't leave me oily like a 1980's suntanner?
-
Fiddle, I'm 3+ yrs out as you know and I concur, beef is a fickle mistress. I can plow through a steak one day, can't be in the same room as one the next, a few bites of ground beef can hit the spot, or send me into a tailspin of sliming misery lasting well into the night. It's a crapshoot and fat% doesn't seem to be a factor.

How was your 5:2 day today?
Globetrotter replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yep, as my favorite personal anthem says, shake it off shake it off Fast day yesterday, half a Quest bar, 3 coffee mugs of beef broth with little bits of veggies in it, some perky jerky, and some saltines. I've had to finally just throw away the package because they are becoming a dangerous nightly ritual. Today is greens greens greens, fish, greens greens greens. I'm on the constipated upward climb of the IBS hill, actually looking forward to the diarrhea slope >:} Only then will I feel confident in the authenticity of the scale #. Interesting side note: I have been following the Wahl's Protocol as best I can with my limited capability so of course all sugar white flour processed etc etc has been out, barring my recent saltines mania ... anyway, last week I ate a square of Ghirardelli dark chocolate with a sea salt caramel filling. Sounds glorious right? It should have been, they historically have been little squares of god-love. But you know what? It just tasted like flat sugar, it was "loud" and "too bright", if that makes any sense at all. Taste bud reset? About a week into the protocol I had half an apple that I had smuggled back from Germany. Now granted, hese apples were amazing to begin with when I had them in Germany, that's why I brought some back. But now, after the protocol, I think I heard choirs of angels burst forth every time I chewed, the taste was sensational and no manufactured candy could stand a chance against it. -
Kristie, my bulgy pubis is my constant embarrassment, I'm about ready to enlist a 19th century style corset if it will work. The Flexees you showed is great, but for me with my thighs, I would have prominent and unsightly flesh-poofing, out of the leg holes. I need something that goes all the way down the thigh, with serious lower gut hoisting v_v
