July Surgeries
My nut told me to up my calories to around 1,000. Hope that helps. My loss is slow. Since surgery it's 3 lbs a week, with a stall in the middle when I went on a trip. This week has been slow for me too, but it's inching down. I've lost 17 lbs since surgery, and we were sleeved within a day of each other. It sounds like we're pretty much in the same territory.

Sleeved 8/16 - when were u and how r u doing?
My surgery (7/14/10) and recovery were fine, but I'm not losing as fast as I want to. The scale keeps going up and down in the same 3 lb range. I'm hanging in there. There is no way that I can eat 1,000 cals a day or less and NOT lose weight. It just doesn't seem scientifically possible. I'm guessing that water weight is part of the equation. I've only lost 17 pounds after surgery.

when did you start eating dense protein
I'm 5 weeks out, and I seem to pretty much be able to eat any meat/fish, as long as the portions are small. I don't eat raw veggies yet. I was told I could at 6 weeks.

Will craving junk food stop with sleeve?
My nutritionist said 1,000 calories a day. If I'm short on calories, I'll allow myself some dark chocolate and a glass of white wine--but I don't go over my calorie limit and I get my protein in. That's my only craving. I hope it's not too bad.

Gastric Sleeve In Juarez Mexico
With gastric bypass, you will lose faster, but you will have malnutrition that you will have to treat for the rest of your life.

Feeling Guilty
and I have to add--Jesus kicked ass and took names in the Temple--he wasn't loving the moneychangers. Sometimes the real world is more complicated than "love" and tough love often does more good than unconditional love--which comes from God, not other people. We're human here.

Feeling Guilty
I don't need the Bible quoted at me because I have a different opinion than you. You should be able to handle that, as I handle your opinion. It just looks so darn self-righteous. Didn't Jesus say not to parade your righteousness, and when you pray, to do so in a closet, and not for the approval of others? Peace in Jesus. My relationship with him may be different from yours. There is no one way.

who did you tell?
I only told my mom and my best girlfriend. No one else needs to know--I don't want to have to deal with their judgments/uninformed opinions. It's none of their business imho.

Traveled for a week, gained 4 lbs
The 2 lbs are lost. Onward!

Feeling Guilty
I mean this in the nicest way, but I think you are being over-sensitive. Adults don't have to sugar coat everything when they talk to each other. I'd rather hear someone's true opinion than some watered down "polite" version that hides their true feelings. I don't see a problem with open discussion.

Traveled for a week, gained 4 lbs
Ok, it can be done. You can totally blow it and find your way back to the True Path lol. I'm back drinking water, food logging, watching calories, and tomorrow, adding exercise in again. Traveling is hell, it totally throws everything off. It took me 3 days back to get back into a healthy routine, but I DID IT! Day one of renewed leaf.

where are the heavyweights?
I have 150+ lbs to lose. The scale, however, is not cooperating.

Foods you used to love but now hate
I used to be quite the red wine aficionado, and now I can't stand the way it tastes. My food tastes didn't change at all, just wine.

Traveled for a week, gained 4 lbs
I went back and checked my records, and it was 2 lbs not 4 lbs. And I started my period today, so I was PMSing. I haven't been able to exercise or drink water the way I should, and my routine is all disrupted. If I can get back on the wagon I think it'll be ok.

Traveled for a week, gained 4 lbs
Thanks Tiff, I hope so!

Traveled for a week, gained 4 lbs
A month out I had to go to a conference and was at the mercy of hotel and restaurant food for a week. I tried to make good choices, and I thought it took 3,500 calories to gain a pound--no way was I eating that much. Anyway, I'm bummed.

Irritated with people
People suck. Fat hate is the last acceptable prejudice. Thin love is shallow love. Only the beautiful deserve to be treated nicely? Not in my moral universe.

mushie stage and I am so confused!
Didn't your doc give you nutritional guidelines? Call and ask for some. If you want to see what I ate during mushies, see my blog (link below). Look in the archives for recipes. They are quick and easy, I wasn't in the mood for heavy duty cooking. Try IsoPure Zero protein powder and mix it with water and flavored sugar free syrups to flavor it. Good luck.

Regrets?
I've seen people post that even when they had complications early out, they still didn't regret it. I had no complications, and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Crazy nutritionist advice
I went to see my nutritionist today for an hour class. She had a notebook about all the things we should be eating (including way more carbs and fat than I'm used to), gigantor portions, and 1,000-1,2000 calorie a day recommendation (I've been doing 600-800). So I came home and implemented some of her suggestions for dinner, felt like crap for an hour, and threw up for the first time ever. What am I to make of this? She suggested that if I didn't use her guidelines I would gain my weight back after 2 years because I would be unable to sustain what I am doing. Thoughts?

Hospital Gowns
Unless you want to pee all over the operating table you get one, lol. You don't even know when they put it in. It's no big deal, really.

Help-need letter from pcp
Ask the bariatric coordinator, who usually deals with insurance approvals. They should be able to give you some info because they do insurance all day long.

Death
If it helps, I'm still alive. You will be, too! Everyone on this board is alive! Try to change your mindset--going into surgery with fear will make it harder on your body. Accept that everything is going to be alright. We'll see you on the loser's bench!

Tummy Stretching? Opinions!
Slushies are wasted calories--you could be making sugar free slushies in the blender at home with SF syrups. You need those 200 calories to have protein in them. Also 600-800 a day, from what I have seen posted, is more normal for the weight loss phase than 1,200. Don't get into bad habits!

Sleeved on 8/6/2010.....
Congrats on your surgery! Your hospital stay sounds like mine--so glad to hear it!
