  1. I've seen you pretty much bashing Drs from Mexico in a few post now and sadly you are very uninformed. I was a nursing student for 3 years here in the US and I NEVER saw such a well run, clean facility as I did Mexico with Dr Aceves. There have been plenty of reports of bad US doctors, in fact when I was trying to decide who would do my surgery every single Dr I spoke with here in the US aside from one in Cali had a leak rate around 2-4% while Dr A hasn't ever had a leak. One Surgeon was run out of Nashville because of malpractice and is now in AZ. Now Dr Alamanza has had plenty of negitive stories. For the poster who said that Dr Alamanza hasn't lost anyone, I'd love to know where they got that info from. Before this board was switched over there were pages among pages of info about him that is now lost. If I were to do it all over again and I was given the choice of a surgeon here for 1.5k (my deductible) or surgery in Mexico at 8750+expenses I'd still go to Dr Aceves.
  2. I think Dr Aceves will, call him, he's your best choice!

    Body Shape After Weight Loss

I have the same shape just smaller. I had a big tummy before and I still do compared to the rest of me. Some of the skin has settled in my hip region and actually looks pretty good with clothes on

Anybody have Dr. Aceves and/or went alone?

Dr Aceves is 8750 and that includes everythign except your airfare. He's the best surgeon in the world IMO.
  5. I started researching band in May and that same day I decided on sleeve. I continued to call surgeons for the next two months, tried to get insruance to cover it and after MUCH research I decided on Dr Aceves. I then started working on how in the world I was going to pay for it. I got a loan in early September, booked my surgery and had it October 8th 2010.

    Tummy Tuck...have You Had One?

Really? Will pay for all that? What insurance do you have and how do you get an augmentation covered?
  7. I still don't think they made your sleeve tight enough. The tissue of the sleeve, if done correctly, isn't very stretchy. I would throw up before I ate that much, it comes back up my throat with no room to go. Don't beat yourself up, I don't think you were given the same tool most of us were.
  8. Oh yes, hit 159.6 today. That means 9.6 lbs away from goal and 4.6 lbs away from "normal" weight. Heck yeah!

  9. Chill. that's my advice. My weight bounces up 3-5 lbs ever month before my period and then starts dropping the week after. It's been doing the same thing since month 3. Don't stress, don't change just keep on keeping on.
  10. Who did your sleeve? I would never be able to eat all that in an hour much less 20 minutes.
  11. As soon as I got home I felt fine to keep up with kids just like before. I had a then 3 year old and 5 year old. I just had them use stepstools or climb up on the couch when they wanted to be picked up. I didn't worry about it at all and everything was fine.
  12. Sounds like typical results with plication. Even those who have had it done successfully seem to only lose about 50% of their excess weight loss after a year. I am so sorry you threw your money away and basically have no recourse.
  13. Dr Aceves is amazing and he does such fine work that you don't really have to worry about aftercare in the US. His rate of leaks or complications are lower than anyone elses I could find. Nina would be able to answer all these questions for you. They are all amazing! http://www.gastricsleevesurgeon.com/

By George! Dare I Say Thin?

Wow, you are a beautiful woman. The kinda that turns heads. Congrats on all your success, you look happy and young and vibrant! Happy Thanksgiving!
  16. I had some pain but part of that was from a car accident i was in the day before leaving. Other than that it's been smoooooooth sailing!
  17. Please do your research and don't rely on one topic post to do the work for you. I did several months of research before deciding on my surgeon and through that time and my last year on here I have read a lot of negative expereinces with Dr Almanza. When his name pops up my first inclination is to warn people but then again I'm hesitant because I don't want to make people who used him feel bad or that they need to justify their decision. So again, do your research!
  18. Ooo I commented on your article. Great job and I loved the story. So uplifting about you and your surgery! I want a signed copy when you write your book!

Anybody have Dr. Aceves and/or went alone?

There is no need to see your PCP for anything other than regular check ups. You can have your yearly bloodwork done by the PCP like anyone else would. Really this surgery isnt' like others and there isn't any follow up needed.
