  1. your friend should be ashamed - she needs to remember how she felt when it was her turn. however, you have support here any time you need it. you're going to do fine!! i was sleeved on the 15th and i already feel like my normal self.... also, i notice you're in dallas. i'm in the dfw area too so if you want a "buddy", email me. who is doing your surgery? please let us know how you're feeling once you're sleeve. good luck!!
  2. i was given liquid lortab as well, but i never used it. i can't believe your doctor gave you pills! i would call your doctor and ask for liquid pain medicine. good luck - i hope you feel better soon!!
  3. i know that straws are a bariatric "no no". however, when i had the band, drinking with straws were ususally the only way i could get all my Fluid in during the day. does anyone drink with straws now that they have the sleeve? does it cause you any problems? i had revision surgery on the 15th, and i'm still not getting all my fluids in during the day. i was thinking of trying with a straw since it made it easier with the band. what are your thoughts?
  4. yes, my insurance covered the revision at 100%. i didn't pay a single cent. all my doctor did was submit my clinicals with a recomendation that the band be removed and the sleeve done. approval only took 2 days.
  5. i'm only 4 days out of my revision surgery. i'm still doing full liquids but i can say that i'm happy i did it. i got to where i hated my band. i would go in for fills, then 5 days later i would be to tight, so i would have to get unflled. then wait about 6 weeks for the inflamation to go down and get another fill. this continued for close to a year. i was sick of it.
  6. i was sleeved tuesday. after having the band for 2 years and have my "full" feeling higher up, i now have to learn how to feel full all over again. my doctor told me the feeling would be lower down (like before the band), but i'm still nervous about it. how did you relearn about feeling full?
  7. i was taking prilosec before surgery due to acid reflux due to problems with my band. but my doctor drained my band a few weeks before surgery and the acid reflix stopped. my doctor didn't mention anything to me about starting it again. should i start taking it again even though i dont have acid reflux symptoms?
  8. my doctor put me on full liquids for the first 2 weeks, but what i've been doing since i came home yesterday is trying to get my water in and get some protien in. it's weird becaue i dont want anything! i have to make myself drink something. i'm hoping by day 4 i'll feel a little better.
  9. i'm only 2 days out, but i find that i have to force myself to drink. did anyone else have discomfort while they drank Water / protien drinks / or other stuff? the feeling doesn't last long - maybe 10 seconds or so. i'm a revision patient (from band) and i dont remember having this feeling after i had the band. just curious if others had the same feelings right after surgery and how long it lasted. i hope it doesn't last long because i'm not getting all my protien / fluids in yet. i'm maybe just getting half.
  10. had my band to sleeve revision yesterday. came home this morning. have a few quesions: 1. is being sick to your stomach normal? i have had one episode of dry heaves today....nothing came up, so i guess thats good. 2. i have to FORCE myself to drink. i haven't eaten at all today. so far i've drank about 16 ozs of Water and an 11 oz protien shake. and it's taken me all day. will that get easier? i'm worried i'm not going to get my fluids / protien in. 3. all i want to do is sleep. i dont remember being this tired or having the above issues when i had the band put in.
  11. hello, i'm in the DFW area - very close to waxahachie. i'm getting the sleeve done tues (june 15). i currently have the band, but it's coming out and the sleeve is taking place.
  12. next tuesday is the day! i'm so excited to get this band out and have the sleeve done. however, i am curious about the pain after surgery. is it pretty similar to the pain/discomfort you had with the band? personally, i didn't think the pain after the band surgery was bad at all. i never took the pain medicine they gave me. the only discomfort i had was trying to find a comfortable way to sleep for the first few days. i know everyone is different but i wanted to find out what you thought of the pain and discomfort. thanks!
  13. thank you for your help. the problem with my band is....well, i'm not really sure what it's called. every time i get a fill, i'm fine for a few weeks, then it's so tight that i cant even get Water down. so then i do a huge unfill to give the swelling time to heal. then we start all over - doing very TINY fills. i've had an upper GI done and my band has NOT slipped. after almost a year of messing with it, he finally decided that it should come out. would you suggest that i get a complete unfill to give my stomach time to relax? my port is still able to be accessed. do you think that if you were able to have your band unfilled you wouldn't have had the problems? i'm just getting a little nervous now. LOL is there anyone else out there who had a band to sleeve surgery and didn't have ANY problems? or are leaks pretty common with band to sleeve revisions?
  14. i currently have the lapband. i am having a revision surgery june 15 to have the band removed and the sleeve done. i'm just curious as to how common leaks are and what causes them. are most sleeve patients usually problem free? what about patients going from the band to the sleeve? are they at higher risk for problems? should i get my band completely unfilled before my surgery to give my stomach time to relax? or will my previcid that i'm taking help with that?
  15. thanks for your reply. but i thought i saw a reply of yours on another post where you stated that you had a leak at one point. is this correct or am i getting you mixed up with someone else?
  16. for those of you who had the band and then went to the sleeve, did you have any problems with the sleeve? my band is coming out and i'm getting the sleeve procedure done next month. i've seen a few posts where people talk about leaks, and now i'm nervous. i dont really know ALL there is to know about the sleeve yet. i'm still in the pre-op process with my surgeon. are problems a common thing with the sleeve or a low amt like with the band? help ease my mind! i have a 3 year old little boy that needs me to come through this problem free!
  17. i'm getting the sleeve done on June 15. they are taking out my lapband and doing the sleeve procedure on me since my band has been causing me problems. i've read through some of the posts and noticed that everything i have read has been positive. i haven't seen anyone say they've had problems once they've had the sleeve done. so my question - have you had ANY problems since you've had the sleeve? if so, what type of problems did you have and are they better? my MIL has heard of several people having blood clots and wound infections and she's nervous about me having this done.
  18. i'm going from a lapband to a sleeve in a few weeks. when i had the band put in, i went home the same day. my doctor mentioned that i would be spending the night at the hospital once my surger was done and would get to go home the next day. i've seen posts where people have said they stayed 2 or 3 days.... so im just curious how long was your hospital stay?
  19. i currently have the lap band. i was banded in 2008. i've had nothing but problems for the past year. my insurance finally approved my surgery to have my band removed and gave the approval to have me converted to the gastric sleeve. i'm excited and nervous at the same time!! i am hoping to have my surgery sometime within the next month. what are some things i can expect after surgery? do you have a very small appitite or none at all? what are some things you have done to make your weight loss sucessful? are there certin food that you CANNOT eat (like with the band)? any infomation would be great. thanks!
