  1. for those of you who had the band and then went to the sleeve, did you have any problems with the sleeve? my band is coming out and i'm getting the sleeve procedure done next month. i've seen a few posts where people talk about leaks, and now i'm nervous. i dont really know ALL there is to know about the sleeve yet. i'm still in the pre-op process with my surgeon. are problems a common thing with the sleeve or a low amt like with the band? help ease my mind! i have a 3 year old little boy that needs me to come through this problem free!
  2. i had surgery june 15th. about a week after surgery, i started my monthly cycle....a week early. i stopped for about a day, then started my normal monthly cycle. all along, i have been taking my birth control pills daily (my doc said it was fine). we've also been using condoms until my cycle is back to normal.....however, there was one day where we didnt. i started my inactive pills on saturday and here it is wednesday and still nothing. i'm due to get an IUD put in, but i have to start my cycle first.... i spotted yesterday and thought i was starting, but still nothing! in a way, i'm starting to get nervous and wondering if i should take a pregnancy test to ease my mind..... i thought i would never look forward to get a period, but i am this time.
  3. i'm 7 months out now and i feel like my sleeve has stretched! i'm not eating the amounts i did before surgery, but i'm eating more than i did at 2,3, even 4 months out. i can eat pretty much an entire chicken breast and a few bites of veggies. i have eaten some sliders and notice that i can eat those and never feel restriction - so i stay away from them for the most part. i still have weight to lose so i'm hoping that my sleeve didn't stretch!

    i'm scared it stretched!

thanks! i'm sure i'm fine too.... i just sometime get worried....eating with the sleeve is so different from eating with the band. since i had so many issues with my band, i tend to worry about those same issues with the sleeve, when in fact, i've had ZERO issues!

    i'm scared it stretched!

this is when i find myself thinking it's streched. but when i'm eating my steak, chicken, etc, i am still surprised at how fast i feel full. i still love my sleeve. i just have mini freak-out episodes from time to time - LOL

    i'm scared it stretched!

i'm sure i'm over thinking it.... i've NEVER vomited from eating to much and i NEVER eat until i'm "stuffed".
  7. anyone done the 5 day pouch test even though we dont have a "pouch"? i'm just curious if it works well for us sleevers... i feel off track over the holidays, so i'm wanting to get back on track and start eating right again.

    monthly cycles....

yesterday i started my monthly cycle....a week early. i am on birth control pills. i was given IV antibotics during surgery. since antibotics weaken BC pills, i expected this to happen. i'm just curious if any other ladies had this happen as well. if so, did it just last a normal cycle? i do plan on using a backup method of BC until my next months cycle just in case. thank you.

Forced to change Birth Control after Surgery

try the paraguard IUD. its non-hormonal and is good for 10 years. i did spot with it for about a week or so, then never spotted again.

    Oral Contraceptives - B.C. Pills

if you're going to get an IUD, i recommend the Paraguard. i have it and LOVE it. it's non hormonal and is good for 10 years. i also like it because antibotics will not weaken it like they do hormonal birth controls.

Update on Surgery against my Will

i'm confused as well. i think you need to deal with the anger you have with your family... i remember reading that you tried to cancel the surgery a week before... if you knew you didn't want it then, why did you go to the hospital? i'm sorry you are going though this - i really am. i know you were excited to have the band out and the sleeve done from the several emails you sent me about getting my surgeon's info. again, i hope you find peace with everything. i wish you the best and hope one day you can let go of the anger and live a happy life.
  12. i drink out of a straw daily...and i'm almost 3 months out. i started drinking with a straw about 3 days post op. i found that it's the only way i can get my fluids in.

    Birth Control?

i have the paraguard IUD and love it. it's non-hormonal and it's good for 10 years.
  14. i'm only 2 days out, but i find that i have to force myself to drink. did anyone else have discomfort while they drank Water / protien drinks / or other stuff? the feeling doesn't last long - maybe 10 seconds or so. i'm a revision patient (from band) and i dont remember having this feeling after i had the band. just curious if others had the same feelings right after surgery and how long it lasted. i hope it doesn't last long because i'm not getting all my protien / fluids in yet. i'm maybe just getting half.
  15. it has now been 5 weeks since my surgery. i was cleared at 4 weeks to start eating normal foods. however, i dont know what to eat! LOL i've been sticking with lunchmeat, chili, tuna, chicken salad and cheeses. those have been my staples since 2 weeks out. and i'm SICK of them. i never thought i would say that i didn't know what to eat. i'm working on changing my thought process toward foods. yes, i know i could just run to taco bell and grab a taco or something, but i really want to make good food choices. i really know what i should be eating, but i guess i find it hard since i DONT feel like eating.... so strange. so help me out - what are some of your favorite things to eat? or a favorite recipe? i prefer chicken over beef or pork if that helps. thanks all!
  16. i referred someone to my surgeon about getting a revision from the band to the sleeve. we both have the same insurance as our husbands work together. my sleeve was approved. while this person was at my surgeon's office, the office manager discussed my insurance approval / insurance coding with her. my surgery was not discussed - just insurance information about me getting approved. is this illegal? i am not 100% sure about what the HIPPA law covers.

    is this illegal?

my name was used....both by my referral and the office manager.

    Hair

i'm 2 months out and i have NOT lost any hair so far. i had the lapband done in 2008 and my hair started falling out within 2 weeks of surgery. i'm hoping that it doesn't start coming out now, but if it does, i know it will grow back.
  19. i had an area on my stomach that was like that. i didn't hurt like it was infected - it would just burn. i called my doctor and he told me it was nerves trying to repair themself. i'm 2 mos out and that feeling has been gone for about a month or so....
  20. i am the same way. nothing sounds good to me. i pretty much live off the same 4-5 things. it gets boring and i am tired of it. but when i try to think of something else to eat, i just dont feel like eating any of it.

    lettuce???

i am 2 months out and i can eat salad with no problem. i have tried shredded lettuce (like on tacos), so i dont know if that would be any different.
  22. i have a scale that i use to measure my Protein, but i'm starting to wonder how accurate it is. i made chicken breats for dinner and i weighed one chicken breast. accoring to the scale it was 2 ozs. but i can't eat an entire chicken breats...so i'm thinking my scale is not correct. does anyone have an easy way to measure protein like chicken, beef, etc.... should i buy another scale? the one i have i got from walmart - not sure of the brand.
  23. does anyone use them? i've thought about getting them and using them to make sure i'm in ketosis during my stall(s).... but not sure where to get them or the price of them.
  24. mommytoethan

    ketosis sticks....

my levels are really high too..... this is the first time i've used them and i think they are going to be motivation for me!
  25. that makes sense - thanks!
