  1. I have had the same thoughts and fears as you. I have cried (literally) over the fact that I will give up my current relationship with food. It's like breaking up.

But, I had to step back and look at the big picture. I'm 53 yrs old, and I feel like I'm 20 yrs older. I have several health issues, but the ones that are directly related to my weight are: elevated cholesterol, a fatty liver, obstructive sleep apnea, joint pain, high blood pressure. Not to mention the fact that I can't get proper treatment for my back because I can't stand up long enough to do physical therapy due to my weight.

So, what choice do I have? Really? Do I hang on to food and live a restricted life and then die way too young? or... Do I take this opportunity to lose weight, get healthy and take control of my life. It's a no brainer.

I know this is difficult, but you are being offered a way out. The choice is yours. I hope you find the answer you are looking for.

  2. Thanks everyone for the information. I have been w/o for 3 days, and going strong. I really think the craving is in my head. I feel horrible after drinking one, but I still drink them. This is the motivation that I need.

Three days! GREAT. I too am hooked on DP. I'm scheduled for 6/4/2010 and have been slowly cutting back. I'm down to 3 a day and hope to be down to 2 by next week. For me, cutting back was easier than going cold turkey. When you have a terrible craving, just remember why you are doing this and that it is so worth it.

  3. It's funny you brought up sushi. It's one of my fave foods and on 5/23 (the week b4 I start my pre op diet), my kids and their families are joining me and my hubby for a sushi dinner. It's my "farewell dinner" which I now see as a celebration. Since the whole family love sushi, I thought what a better way to Celebrate my upcoming new life!
