T minus 4 and counting down
Maddie replied to jerryvic's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jerry, I am so excited for you and the others as your date is so close. You have such a good attitude I'm sure you will do great. Best of luck. -
Most of what I have read says you should stop smoking 6 wks. prior to surgery. I failed at several attempts, but I'm finally at day 3 without smoking. They say after 3 days that you are officially a non-smoker, whoever said that is full of s#@t. Physical addiction is only part of it. My grandchildren came over last night and I was so on edge, that I really had to be careful not to snap at them. I felt like the witch in Hanzel and Gretel, wanting to toss them in the oven and have them for a snack. LOL Hopefully, this will pass before I go into the hospital.

Maddie replied to erh92's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the Magic Bullet, but my hubby is the one who uses it. He thinks it's great. But, then again getting to use something inside that goes "VROOOOM" makes him happy. -
Great post. It really made me think. You are so right, thanks for sharing.

They got the results of my sleep study much earlier than expected. I have obstructive sleep apnea. I have another sleep study scheduled now for 5/23 so I can get the lovely CPAP.

Actually, I went back and now it shows. lol

I tried to post a comment on your blog, not sure what I did wrong.

Is this really better than band?
Maddie replied to sam30204's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too had originally planned on getting the band. But, after lots of research, I found it's not so great and definitely not risk free. Plus, if the band was so great, how come so many get revisions from the band to the sleeve? -
Thanks for the update. It's wonderful to hear that you are home and doing well. Take care and keep us posted.

Gratz! That is exactly the attitude you need to have. I'm proud of you too and thanks for the inspiration.

Your own pillow if that is a big deal to you, it is to me. Lip balm is a biggie as your mouth will and lips will be very dry. Comfy Slippers for walking. Loose clothes to wear home.

Maddie replied to sleevegenie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's amazing! Good for you pushing for the appeal. Gratz. Best of luck. -

Nicely put Christie, and ty. I too have lost control! lol I know that it's best to change what I can before surgery, and maybe I am just rationalizing to suit myself. But, I have to do Clear liquids for 1 week pre-op, so I am having what I want now. Saying goodbye to all my faves. To be honest, it's given me some peace. I was a mess just after I got my date as I felt I was going to lose my best friend. Now, as I have each meal, I savor it! But, when I'm done that's it. I'm not having my fave desert everyday because I'm near surgery, I just had it once. Just like my other faves. I'm not going to try to fool anyone, lol. My last dinner before clear liquids, I'm going to a place where I always eat too much. I mean there is no way I'm having hamburger helper as my last meal.

I agree that change is difficult for everyone and that most people do resist it. If the nagging, etc continues, perhaps a reminder that you are adjusting just as they are and it's not easy on you either. It can't be undone and you are facing a healthier future, what could be more important.

If your feet and legs were swelling that could explain it. Even if the swelling went down, often times, water "moves" around your body before you get rid of it. So, you may give it a few more days before getting too discouraged.

Gratz!!! I'm happy for you. I get sleeved 3 days after you. I'll look forward to your progress. Best of luck.

Surgery Monday-Scared to death
Maddie replied to JillianMarie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know it's normal to be scared but I feel bad that you are doing this alone. Just remember that you will be in good hands and that you will be back home in no time. I wish you the very best. -
Unfourtunatly, this is a bit controversial..but thoughts on consuming Marijuana PsOp?
Maddie replied to pistolpete's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't mean to sound rude here ...but it's difficult to address your post without responding to your first statement. You can't separate the issues. You are asking members of this forum, some of whom are medical professionals, how to incorporate illegal drugs into your rehabilitation.
