Preop diet...HELP
imagine.dream.inspire replied to Kenwillmore's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You might want to check with your doctor to see if he wants you to also do low-fat. My doctor did. If so, you should stay away from mayonnaise as it can add up in calories quickly. When you have salads from subway and such you might want to be careful. At times they add sugar to it and that = carbs. Stick to veggies (non starchy) and lean meats. Try to avoid processed meats as it tends to have sugar as well at times and carbs. Its easy to over eat that stuff. For a milk substitute you can try almond milk. Its fairly low in carbs and they even have a chocolate flavored one. Just get unsweetened and then add your own sweetener. -
Mexicali and Dr. Aceves Tests Tomorrow!
imagine.dream.inspire replied to imwendylou's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
So glad to hear that your surgery went well. I had my surgery with doctor aceves not long ago. Welcome to the sleeve club. Re: the spinal block I was not under when they did it. They were doing both the IV setup and the spinal block at the same time. I remember it very clearly. They inserted the needle twice and it hurt but I made myself strong. LOL. After that I do not remember anything until I woke up right after surgery. Didn't have any fog and was fully awake and alert. The spinal block is wonderful. It really helped with post-op pain. Dr. Aceves mentioned that it is offered on a case-by-case basis and not everyone gets it. Its then up to you to decide if you want them to administer the SB or opt out. -
Hoping to get off all my pills soon
imagine.dream.inspire replied to travelchick's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was told to grind the pills. I bought a pill splitter/grinder from Walmart for $5.00. The pills do not have a pleasant taste but I add a little crystal light. I take the ground up meds on a spoon. -
I am still in the early stage but I already miss water. I can only do small sips and that is not enough. I miss gulping iced cold water especially on a hot day. My alternative was to start eating ice. That refreshes me more.

Am I stupid..hmmm
imagine.dream.inspire replied to TiffanyIsMajor's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My post-op paperwork mentions sipping every 10 minutes to get in your daily Fluid requirement but it also lists (during phase 1 & 2) that one should not consume more than 2 oz during a 15 minute period. It lists this twice. This is why I was asking if drinking more than 2 oz would cause issues with my new stomach. -
last meal
imagine.dream.inspire replied to jack mario425's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had some carbs which I normally do not have. Before officially starting my liquid diet I went out for a seafood dinner. Once I arrived in Mexico Dr. Aceves said to go wild and have a good last meal. I had tacos for lunch, club sandwich with fries for dinner and a piece of fruit for a snack. I portion controlled all of it. I wish I would've had a few more items but I was afraid that my liver would not shrink enough and there would be complications or that my blood sugar would spike suddenly from the higher carb foods.
