    diet history?

I had to do the same and exercise history, as well. I ,also, have had weight problems since childhood. Just do the best you can. I went ahead and wrote a sorta summary and added to my paperwork. I talked about how from the 2nd grade I was put on diet after diet and had my food restricted by my parents and doctors in addition to the PE classes I took in college, skii lessons, you name it-I listed it. It's frustrating but just do the best you can. I know exactly how you feel! How can you list close to 30 years(for me) of diets and exercise?! I had to have 5 years of dr. documented weight problems. That was sorta hard for me because I hadn't had a reg. dr for several years -until 3yrs ago. So, I had to look up the dr. that delivered my last two children now 7 & 10. I was glad he still had my records. Good luck to you!

    Insomnia and the perils

Those of you with chronic insom-Have you had a sleep study? If not, it is definately worth a try. I have dealt with insomnia for years, as well, and "Praise the Lord and Thank Dr. Cribbons" I have been sleeping regularly ever since I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea and started using the c-pap. I had been to doctor after doctor and tried many things. Its amazing how much better you feel when you finally start sleeping good.

    HELP ~ I'm so hungry

My nutritionist said for the first 5-6 weeks eat: -3(2oz) meals of cream of wheat, Soup etc -24 ounces/per day (2oz every hour) of supplemental protein(at least 60 grams per day) without sugar??????And yes, this is for the Band. She said that I would have more energy and less chance of my hair falling out and such. Is this realistic? Did anyone get instructions like this?

    HELP ~ I'm so hungry

You know I was just noticing that I used to get up and snack at night when I was bored or couldn't sleep. Now, I get on a see what Y'all are doing. This has got to be better. My husband is getting jealous! "Who are to talking to? What are you laughing about? etc, etc." He is 6 foot tall and weighs a whopping 125 pounds! We look like Mutt and Jeff! He eats junk all the time and never gains a pound. He gets mad at ME because he can't gain weight!! Can you imagine that! ?

    Texas bandster

Alicia-My doctor is Dr. Cribbons, too! One of the nurses at my PCP's office told me about him. The last time I talked to her, she had lost 80 something pounds! I live in Little Elm. It's near Frisco-D/FW area. Where do you live? Hello to ALL of you TEXANS! I am so glad that you are here! This is my first visit to the Texas part. This site is one of my new favorite places to visit!
  15. Welcome! I am new to this site and am an elementary teacher, also. When I first started, I went to every web site that I could. I even watched one site that performed the procedure on video. I was sold!! I have not had my surgery but have been working through the process for the past few months. My doctor's office has finally send the surgery request to my insurance. They had to make sure that I had everything so that we would reduce the risk of rejection. Each insurance requires different things but Blue Cross/Blue Shield required: a. documented five years of obesity b. 12 months of doctor monitored efforts of weight loss c. 6 months of doctor monitored efforts exercise d. a nutritional analyis e. a psyc. analysis And then....Dr. Cribbons (my surgeon) requested that I have a sleep study done. The tests showed that I have sleep apnea. I am soooo thankful to him. I have suffered from insomnia, migrains, fatigue, memory problems and much more. Many of those symptoms are now going away! I have even joined CURVES to get in the habit of exercising and to get a positive start to my journey. The one thing that I have learned is that you must be proactive in the process. Jump through the hoops, make the calls, go to the appointments, ask the questions and EVENTUALLY you will get there. Good luck to you! I hope that things go smoothly for you. In the mean time, You have found a wonderful place full of terrific people that are routing for you.

Any One Up For an Exercise Challenge?

Zoe-Way to go! I know what you mean about feeling like you have a group of friends here. I feel the same way. I look forward to the day when I don't want to stay in bed and just watch TV. I must say that since I have been on this site, I get out of bed and check to see who is on and what I am missing. You are all my inspiration right now. THANK YOU ONE AND ALL!!!!! Betty-I am so proud for you! Keep up the good work. Well, Brittany (my 14 year old) just asked me if we were going to Curves. So....I guess I will work out twice today.
  17. That sounds great, Alex! Thanks for all you do!

Any One Up For an Exercise Challenge?

Thanks and Way to go all! Delarla is right! We need to be proud of our selves because we are all working hard and doing a great job! I exercised this a.m. and got measured. I didn't lose weight but lost .2 body fat. Anything lost is better than something gained, right? Well, let's keep up the good work!

Blue Cross HMO anyone hear of this?

Yes, I have thought about it and appreciate your concerns. As a teacher, when I start at a new school, pre-existing conditions are paid. Many schools actually use the same insurance. The last time I changed schools, I kept my same insurance. I truly believe that God will provide a way. He always has. My substitute checks will start coming in soon and that will help.

Any One Up For an Exercise Challenge?

:laugh Oh boy! That could be interesting!!!! I might not even need this surgery if I had more than one husband! :banana CAN ANYONE SAY EXERCISE
  22. That is sooo great! I am so proud for you! Hey, I have a question? When you go back to the doctor for check ups or fills and such -do they weigh you on that BMI thing each time? I know my Curves uses one each month at the weigh-in but I wondered if the dr is going to. That should help give an idea about if you are losing fat/gaining muscle and such-right?

Blue Cross HMO anyone hear of this?

Good luck to you, Mrs. P. I have been going through all of the insurance rig-a-ma-roe(sp) for a few months now. When I first started working on it, I was still working and my insurance wasn't as high. Now, I am without a job due to my health problems and I am paying COBRA. My doctor's office just sent the request into the insurance today. We have three children living at home and one that lives with his other parent, as well, and money is tight. I really hope that we can manage to keep up with the payments at least until after my surgery. I am praying that I will find another job soon. My health is much improved because I found out through all of the insurance and doctors requirements that I have sleep apnea! That has been a major reason for so many of the things that were making me so sick!! Too bad I didn't find it out BEFORE I lost my job. I sleep with a c-pap thingy now. Best wishes to you on your insurance!
