    3 Weeks Post-op

Sounds like you're rocing your sleeve - 24lbs down? Thats great news. With ref to your protein in take I found using milk which is high in protein in my shakes I can get a massive amount in that way, and get 60g protein in, in 2 shakes - my protein is 21g per 'shot' and the milk is 8.4g per 200ml.... so I'm still trying to get 2 a day in, as theres no way I can eat that much protein in mushies yet. Glad to hear all going well for you tho... and stick with it.. it'll be SO worth it!! Kathy

    3 days post op

Glad to hear you're feeling better day by day... and well done on the weight loss - its falling off you.
  3. I gained everything I lost in my pre op whilst in hospital, together with 2 inches around my waist!! Take something very comfortable, both for wearing in bed and whilst walking around. Good luck
  4. At the end of the day its personal choice whether you chose to let people know or not.... I can totally relate to this - its hard enough explaining I am on a diet, and the reactions I get to that (being lower BMI) so I can't begin to imagine the response I'd get if i told everyone - I really don't have the energy to defend and explain my reasons behind it all. Its your life...and i wish you luck!
  5. Duh!! :confused1: Stupid me..... I totally forgot to link it thru!! Sorry - here it is. Kathy
  6. Jillian You might want to check out this thread that Tiffykins posted. Its got lots of information on post op guidelines on what to eat - foods which will be 'winners' for you. Did you not get a nutritionist when you had your surgery with any guidelines from them? Basically if you stay within the guidelines of the good foods and stay away from 'bad' ones then you should easily be able to avoid weight gains. I can't recall when you had your surgery - but if you're sticking to your guidelines from your nutritionist then you shouldn't really be gaining, unless you are having bod foods all the time. The sleeve is a tool.... but not something to help you eat bad food choices and still lose weight.... to get to your goal you'll need to exercise and eat a healthy diet, and confront any issues you have with food. Perhaps your therapy you said you had started can help with this. Good luck

    Goooaaalllll!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats!! Can't wait to be there myself.
  8. I counted mine too......and once you can have milk then make sure you check out the protein amount in your milk.... it all helps!

    It's so harrrrrrd

It is hard, but you have to get your head around the fact that: - You'll still be able to eat all foods after the op (ok so some people might get intolerant to some foods.. .but in general they're all ok) - Your Dr gives you a pre op diet and guidelines for a specific reason which is to prepare you internally for surgery. If this is your dream then don't sacrifice it by gaining. - If this is the only condition he gave you then surely you want the op enough to get your head around this? I did exactly the same....and started having food funerals.... but somehow managed to get my head around the fact that as I was a self pay, why would I waste such a huge amount of money by sabotaging and gaining weight - if you gain weight from when you last saw your Dr then you also risk a longer/different pre op diet. I was lucky enough to only have to do mine for a week.... had I gained then it would have been 2 weeks. Its only 8 weeks til your date.... in the scheme of things thats not long... so dig deep and start looking after your body and shifting some weight... as you'll not regret it afterwards! The last thing you want is to gain, and for them to say they won't do the surgery. Good luck Kathy
  10. I'm a daily weigher too... in the morning, but stay off for the rest of tha day having had my fix! I know its wrong.. but I've spent years weighing once a week and not seeing the numbers move... so this is still a novelty losing this quick!!
  11. Zephra - I really hope this sorts itself out soon for you - it must be awful for you and your family to live thru this.... so I have everything crossed for you for good results. Kathy
  12. I'm wondering if there is any sort of 'rule of thumb' with stalling or not. How far out were you if you experienced a stall in weight loss? Are lower BMI's more likely to experience onw that higher BMIs??

    Hi, I'm New!

Hi and welcome..... You'll find loads of information on here which will be useful to you....I'd recommend getting together a list of questions to ask your surgeon so you're fully informed. Theres several posts which you can search for relating to questions to ask - IMO it helps to go in fully informed as its a huge decision to make. Good luck

    When did you stall?

What I thought might be my stall has turned into a blip... and I have started shedding again after a few days, so not considered a 2 weeker... But what is interesting is there doesn't seem to be any general rule for when stalls happen as the poll shows... I did think maybe it was mostly at a certain week out from surgery but it appears not... just depending on the individual.

    When did you stall?

You really shouldn't get depressed.... 24lbs in 25 days?? Come on... when have you ever lost that much weight in that time? Thats about 1lb a day if you average it out.... which is very good. You've put your body thru surgery and pre op diet hell and liquids etc.... its bound to react a bit and slow down to reassess what you're doing to it. Just stick with it and you'll start seeing a loss again soon. You said yourself you've lost tons of inches.... well thats another bonus to figure into it all. Chin up babe!
  17. Congratulations - you must be so excited about it all. Do keep us informed....this month will fly by quicker than you think and you'll soon be on the losers bench. Kathy
  18. Congratulations! Good to hear you're ok - you're certainly moving thru the food groups fast - my Nut had me on clears for 10 days post op before 10 days full liquids. I gained in hospital too, and inches as well, but it soon goes down and you'll be seeing weight loss before you know it. Kathy
  19. Hi and welcome I'm sure you'll find this forum useful....and hopefully get the info you're seeking. I was a self pay but here in Spain. The quickest way to get price info is to contact the Drs directly... as their price structure may have changed from other peoples surgery. I can certainly recommend the sleeve - as can most on here.... and certainly don't regret my decision. Its all my birthdays and Christmas's come together!! Good luck Kathy

    6 Weeks Post Op

What a great result Christie! You must be grinning from ear to ear. Keep up the good work and that 109lbs will be off in no time. Kathy

    Bye for now

Good luck Carole. Hope to see you back soon!
  24. I know theres loads of people on here who have reverted from the band to the sleeve. I looked at the bend but am so glad I didn't go that route as I think I'd have ended up spending even more money in the long term with a reversion. Don't get this wrong tho - the sleeve is permenant - they remove 80% of your stomach, totally.. gone forever. In the end it comes down to personal choice, and I'm sure you'll get lots of response to help you decide - but the sleeve rocks!!
  25. Congrats at the 10lbs off, and joining us on the losers bench!
