    When did everyone get nervous?

We are all different. I'm not at the panic attack phase...but when reality sets in that the 29th (my op day) I get a bit scared. I wonder if I'm doing the right thing, but quickly remember how despondent I feel after every failed diet. How miserable I am when I can't partake in any social occasions and how unhealthy I feel all the time. Not to mention how this weight exacerbates my conditions. I guess more than anything else..."death"...I don't want to leave those I love so much. Deep....lol Good luck with your journey to the "losers bench"... Xx

Personally I believe that chewing gum promotes hunger...but what were the reasons you were told that gum is out? X

    I have my date.

I am being bypassed 29th January. I'm scared, I'm anxious, I'm excited, I'm worried, I'm eager to get it over with, I'm keen, I'm optimistic, I'm looking forward to better health, I'm impatient to buy gorgeous clothes again, I'm long in to get back to living a more active and involved life. On a serious note...I do worry about recovery, the post op pain, getting the Protein in and getting the post op diet right and I don't want to lose my hair. I'm sure most people have or had the same feelings. Wish me luck. Xx

    Surgery in 2 weeks

Hi Well I guess we've all lost tons of weight only to put it all back plus some, so it's understandable that what comes with that is fear (or terror) of gaining it all back plus some. Most people are very well intentioned when they voice their concerns regarding weight loss surgery and quite often it might feel that they aren't supporting your decision now, but will support you post op. I am getting my date today, but I believe that it's going to be I two weeks also. We can watch each other's progress. All the very best X
  11. I swear by psyllium husks (ispagula) but not sure if you can take this post op... Try asking the team who did your op. Hope you find an answer soon X
  12. During your stay in hospital, what would you say was standard with regards to your treatment? Is it standard to get the blood thinning injections during your stay (and some given for your return home)? Is it standard to get the blood clot prevention boots after the operation? (They are like huge blood pressure cuffs that squeeze your legs). What were you offered by way of food and drinks? Was it bullion type broth, just Water etc? Are you given any meds to go home with, and if so what? Were you given information packs for your future eating, drinking regime? Were you allowed to wear your panties during the operation? Maybe paper ones? Does your nail varnish have to come off? Finger, toes or both? Would be great if you could share your experiences. Thank you X

  18. I read a lot on hear about how people at any stage of the their WLS, pre op, post op, new starters, veterans, that the food can get boring. So I thought it might be nice to share some WLS appropriate recipes on here. Let's get started. Xx
  19. Hi Just wondered what you "have to take to hospital with you? I'm assuming it's not going to be much apart from nightmare, dressing gown, slippers, personal hygiene stuff like soaps and toothbrush. What were you told to bring? What was the best thing you took? Xx

    2nd gastric bypass for me

Wow Stacy that was a nightmare. So you have no remaining stomach apart from the pouch? I think that 12lbs is pretty good really...you are still healing, swollen and probably retaining Water due to anesthesia. Wishing you a speedy recovery. X
  22. It's an electrical cord that plugs in the electrical socket that's has a plug at the end. It allows you to lengthen your power cords. Back2barb had said that the best things She took with her were front snap sports bras and an extension cord. I assumed that it was a bra with an extension cord...so funny...I guess I should read properly. Xx
  23. What a wonderful story!...well done to you and your team. X

    VSG to RNY anyone?

I'm hoping to be revised from the sleeve to a bypass. I've had severe reflux; I had it prior to surgery so it was a given really that it was going to get worse. But also for me was the lack of restriction with my sleeve and regain of weight. Hope you get back on the road to recovery quickly. X
  25. What is an extension cord? Or should I ask, an extension cord to what? Xx
