    Food restrictions????

I agree with Tiff, with the band I wouldn't eat any meats at all, unless it was ground up and cooked and mixed in with some cheese dip! So far (and I'm only 4 weeks with the sleeve) I have eating meatballs, deli meat and fish. The throwing up is not the same, food simpy comes back up when I've eaten a bite too much or i'm intolerate (that milk I tried to drink, UGH). So far just the one bite comes up, not all I've eaten. Hope this helps!

    Soft Solids

"the bigger they are the harder they fall" --I have more to loose, it comes off fast for me to start, but from experience I know I plateau at 278, then again around 230...I think those are weights from Jr high and High school that I stayed at for long periods of time, so my body likes those weights! Your current weight is my GOAL! lol...

    Milk

I bought some carnation and skim milk last week--haven't even tried it yet...my stomach looks at it and closes the cabinet!

    Soft Solids

I'm almost 4 weeks and solid food makes me nauseated just thinking about eating it! The scrambled egg just slid right back up my throat and out it came--no vomiting it just wasn't gonna stay down! So I'm sticking with my oatmeal, soups and on occasion I'll mush up some form of meat. Last night I tried a slice of deli turkey and it was okay. I'm extremely afraid of any milk products--not sure why--I think it is a mental block. Figure if it doesn't sound good I'm not drinking or eating it yet. I suggest progressing at your own speed, my doctor insist I should be eating flaky white fish, soft veggies and soft fruit--told him I could eat all that but it would take me 6 meals. If I eat too many times a day then I don't have enough time to get in my liquids! I'm thinking everything will calm down around weeks 6 thru 8---at least I'm hoping.

    Drain

My doc says he puts a drain in about 50% of his patients, depends on if they need it...I didn't...so I'm not sure about any pain associated with it.

    Coleslaw

What would coleslaw be considered? soft foods? and if the Doc says I can eat cooked veggies, when does lettuce get introduced?

    Abdominal Pain

I called my Dr and he had me come in immediately to rule out any infections...after we talked and he examed me he didn't feel it was sleeve related, gave me some meds for IBS just in case to take 1 before each meal and see if the cramping calms down when I try to eat. He really wants me progressing to soft foods and I'm soooo scared to eat anything!

    Abdominal Pain

Yes please do! I tried again today, after having drank over 40 oz of water this morning...pain immediately, from my lower abdomen radiating into my back. I don't think it is from teh surgery...way to low!

Getting Back on Track after Holidays!

My doc said at week 6 I'll be sitting at my favorite resturant savory a small portion of my favorite food...told him he was lying! lol. Right now (if my stomach would allow) I would totally eat a slice of fresh sunbeam bread with a thin layer of miracle whip, topped with manwich and a slice of cheese!!!!!!!!!!!! rofl--far cry for that bit of chicken I just tried to choke down and gave up on, lol. Or maybe one of those southwest eggrolls from chilis with avacodo ranch dressing... I should probably hush now.

    Abdominal Pain

Every day when I attempt to eat my insides hurt...I don't feel it is my stomach, it is much lower, like in my intestines--I fairly certain the lack of Water makes it harder for my food to go thru and results in PAIN. After my period ended I finally took some milk of mag and the PAIN was released the next morning--but then again this evening--2 small dime size bites of smashed up chicken and the pain is back--not so bad, but it is there. I quit eating and am drinking some water....I didn't have to pain before when I was drinking 60 or more oz a day, so I'm going to test my theory! Today at lunch I just had some vegetable broth and there was no pain--it is with solid foods...:bored0:

    The WRONG Isopure!!??

I found some 15 gram stuff at GNC today (Alpine Punch) that has no sugar or carbs...the one that is 40 grams is a HUGE bottle--take me all freaking day to drink that! The little 8 oz with 15 grams is much more manageable in my mind and my stomach... I'm thinking I might stick with the sugar ones, at least it is some protein!

Getting Back on Track after Holidays!

Can we eat bread with the sleeve..eventually? My mind is still wrapped up in that non adjustable band HELL that I lived in for too long...

    Coleslaw

I shall look and see if there is one without ibuprofen! I'll sleep in a hot bath tonight before I do something to mess up this sleeve! Thanks for the info,

    Coleslaw

Just wondering...anyone know about Midol? Doc told me today I could go ahead and take some, but not to make it an everyday occurance?? I suffered the holidays--major pain...said it had to be smaller than my pinky nail... Anyone have input on that?

2 weeks out, what is the pain???

I think I will try some Maalox or something...finally after 4 days of pain I can finally think of trying some mushies...I really didn't do any full liquids, nothing that sounded or tasted good to me, I've lived on Isopure and water! I'm hoping it was just eating a semi solid food and it freaked my stomach out. I can't imagine how 2 ounces of yogurt done that--but it hurt like *&^%! Now I'm just scared to eat anything, I'll be glad with my period is over and I can tell which pain is from which problem! Last night sleeping was awful, the past 4 days I've had to take 3-4 hot bathes and showers to relax my body, it is so tense from the pain. UGH! How did I manage to do so well for 11 days??! I was eating mashed potatos just fine and then BOOM--no no!
  19. My Doc gave me the okay to progress to soft foods, after a few days of pureed. There is no way! I hurt soooo bad, what does gas feel like? My stocmach gets hard no matter what I eat, I can feel it. Past 3 days I've eaten very little, less than 2 oz of malt o meal, or 2 oz of yogurt and it just HURTS. I stand in the hot shower and I can feel my stomach slowly relax. What are the stomach spasms? I burp and it seems to relieve a little but my ribs hurt and all the down, like I can feel it in my intestines?? surly not! I can drink fine, which is what I've been doing to keep hydrated-Water water water, but add any food and the pain starts. Last week I had mashed potatos and such without this much pain....my period started and I have intense pains with it too, (endo, but I can't take any meds yet I don't think so I'm dealing with that) but could it be messing with my stomach? I'm not sure what is going on!! How does gas feel and how does stomach spasms feel for everyone else?

    Chest x-ray anyone?

    I had one too...
  21. Okay, so a month from now when I get to eat real food, I KNOW my first look will be too spaghetti sauce, chili, sloppy joes, etc. My old fav was spaghetti meat sauce with cottage cheese --weird? ate it when I was cooking Lasagna, lol. Anyway, just seeing if anyone has experience with these items, maybe the sugar is too high...

    Addicted to the redstuff...

I'm on the pureed food stage...yesterday I pureed (even more) some refried beans with water and some taco sauce. Ate about 1/3 cup? no more than 1/2 for sure...that was at 11:15 (lunch) I couldn't eat anything else the rest of the day...took till this morning to digest!! My oatmeal and mashed potatos didn't take near that long! Do you think it was because beans are protein?

    Day four...pain meds question.....

The most pain for me was at the large incision spot--my band was non adjustable and had been removed for 2 years, so no pain from that, plus I did not have the drain--so I am sure your recover will take a little longer! If I laid down I had to use a pillow for support, to much fat pulling on the incisions---HURT. This morning I crawled across the bed and gave my hubby a kiss before jumping back up and going to work--he was shocked said " I guess your feeling better" lol...Hang in there, it will get better!
  24. I'm seriously contemplating melting cheeze whiz (or velveeta), thinning it out and drinking it. Okay, so I might not DO it, but man, I think my hunger level would be satisfied!
  25. I'm not sure about anyone else, but I'm starving! I am still on my liquid phase and the thought of anymore broth or Protein drinks make me want to dry heave. Tomorrow I go to full liquids and if I have no problems I can progress to pureed foods shortly after--I'm really hopeful at that point is when the 'no hungry' really kicks in. My 1st pureed will be malt o meal--I think it is the same consistency of cream of wheat, I'm REALLY excited! Conclusion: I'm hungry.
