    So I overdid it today!

lowkee -- I had some major pains from week 3 until week 10 after my surgery, I took stomach relaxers (prescribed by my surgeon) had some gastric test ran, etc, they couldn't figure it out...I finally stopped them when I felt my stomach digestion was starting to work on it's own--I could not handle the stomach pains, worse than my cycle pains and much worse than the surgery pain-- I NEVER took any pain meds at the hospital, not even my morphine button. I wanted to go back to work ASAP and knew I would have to handle the pain, but those gastric problems put me under, I would take 2-3 hot baths a day, sometimes in the middle of the night and have to take a pill 30 minutes before each meal, :001_tongue: I hope yours can work itself out! As for the stomach shrinking at night, it does...even with my band it did...normal stomachs do too---just harder to tell, the word break-fast means to break your fast...so there you go! I use the morning to eat my fruit...stopped trying to get in Protein, save the protein for lunch and supper. Plus the fruit helps keep me regular!

    Worried about so many things

I haven't used Protein shakes either...but I didn't do refried Beans in the mushy stage because they felt like they STUCK. I was constantly hungry during the mushy stage, I ate cream of potato Soup for almost a 2 months, I would try some solids and go back to my soup...and when people asked what I was doing to loose weight I told them I was starving--and it was TRUE. Not everyones sleeve is a walk in the park, sometimes you just have to deal with your stomach healing and eat what you can, even if your NOT taking in 70 protein a day. Around month 3 you'll begin to tolerate SOOOO much more and the fullness will set in, the first meat I held down well was grilled catfish--it is still my favorite. It will get better, being hungry is very common during mushy's, :party4:

Straws? Can anyone shed some light for me?

My first week I poured all my liquids into one of those medicine tops that come with cough syrup...i was only allowed to drink that much at a time, every 10 minutes I was pouring water...was RETARDED! When I went back to work I started sipping from a straw and haven't stopped...I drink down (2) 32 oz of water daily from my sonic foam cups...makes me not think about it so much. I find a handfull of nuts helps me drink more, the sea salt gets me thirsty and provides some protein...

    Pouch Stretching and Acid Reflux?

My reflux was extreme with my band, so I removed the band, then had the sleeve put on 2 years later...NO RELFUX! I can sleep without junk coming up my throat--it is sooooo nice, . I agree that the sleeve has very little stretching, and very little ability to stretch--I know serveral people (most in my family) who have done gastric and the weight gain is one reason I went with the sleeve this time...it just made more sense to keep the digestive track intact as much as possible.

Help! Running out of will power!!!

Chocolate has never been my downfall...I didn't eat any candy this easter holiday...WOW!
  6. okay, so I cheated...but the ole doc said I could eat anything and drink anything and it was my choice...so today I choose to eat a lunch size bag of puffy cheetos and one of those 8 oz dr. peppers (still working on it)...and I think it is the best day of my life since Dec 3rd! The chips weren't a problem, but that Dr. Pepper although good does feel funny...bubbly I guess... Tonight I shall go back to my Protein and Water....*weeps* lol...

Bag of Cheetos & a Can of Dr. Pepper OMGoodness!!

I always have to leave the bread off stuff...and regular chips and fries fill my tummy FAST! Fast means I'm not satisfied. I think my all time favorite so far is cajun spiced grilled fresh caught catfish with onions and bell peppers...the week I lost the most weight I ate grilled fish for all main meals the whole week...tonite I skipped food and went with my water...I have about decided to eat when my body says eat and drink when it says drink! That is what skinny people do, right?

Bag of Cheetos & a Can of Dr. Pepper OMGoodness!!

I shall only buy the snack size lunchable type bags! Is it just me or did they change the size of the actually puff? They are sooo FAT...I like the skinnier puffs better!
  9. I kept reading about people using Isopure with 40 grams of protein--the ones I bought only have 15, I was told I could buy at CVS, so I bought the only ones they had! Didn't realize there was more than one, thought they put them in smaller containers! Geez---these have carbs and sugar! Beware!

    Coke

I have tried 3 times to drink a dr. pepper...(also tried coke)...I could actually SMELL the coke and was set on taking a drink...the carbination burned my mouth and all the way down my throat...:tongue_smilie: just not the same anymore!! And the Dr. Pepper was sooo sweet-UGH.
  11. I haven't been able to drink milk since my surgery either.......I would give alot of money to down a 8 oz glass of Vitamin D!! Cheese is okay these days--but the milk brings cramping and other 'issues'.
  12. Hello all, I have 6 boxes of unopened unjury packets. 1 box of each flavor. If anyone wants them please email me. All still in the box shipped from unjury. I had some stomach issues after surgery, still do, and protein additions cause me more stomach spasms, so I'm trying to get them to someone that doesn't want to pay full price! Private message please...thks Hannah:thumbup1:

    Dawn

I agree all the creamy soups are gross...I ate only potato soup until week 4...also ate malt o meal and very creamy oatmeal, my Dr. said I could survive 40 days without food, so just to eat what I could without getting sick DRINK DRINK DRINK. Now I'm at week 8 (I think) and eat just about anything I want. So just relax and eat what you feel taste good and you can tolerate--so other people are eating?? so what, eventually you will have your friend (food) back in small adequate size, and you will have a new friend (your waist) back as well.

    Spicy foods??

I don't do spicy anymore...burb and acid reflux seems to go along with that...

    Food obsession?

I'm about 7 weeks and I cook my family 3 meals a day now...NEVER done that before. I make their lunches, plan their breakfast, and of course cook their supper. I have always enjoyed cooking and still prefer food network over any other channel, just because I love food doesn't mean I have to eat it---I just force others too--I bring more cookies and cakes to work, I've taken up freezing leftovers and giving them to my grandmother and aunt...it works for me, I still exercise, but food can be a passion-not automatically an obsession.
  16. I'm at 6-7 weeks post op and as of this morning have lost 50# I'm really hoping to keep this rate up as long as possible. I work out on a recumbent bike 3-4 times a week---but I was really heavy, so the rate of lost can be fast in the beginning...
  17. sooo, I went home to Mama's this weekend, sitting around a table of about 20 people I mentioned trying to find some deer meat to buy because of the Protein...everyone just stopped at stared then started talking all at once...needless to say I came home with a BAG full of venison meat---evidently the new man in my Aunt's life has killed 16 this year, 3 of my cousins and one uncle have reached their limits and another cousin voluteer to give me an entire frozen deer he had just put in his freezer!!! (his number 7 this year) That is what I get for being from Hickville, USA, ROFL.
  18. I would give a right arm to be able to eat 4 oz vs 1.5 right now!

    Abdominal Pain

My gallbladder has been removed since 2003, so my pain isn't that either, but everytime I eat I get intense cramps and pains from under my ribs down to my pelvic--all intestinal/ colon areas. Surgery Doc gave me some anti spasm pills but they do not always work...my THIRD attempt to see a gastronoligist is Monday...first 2 doctors cancelled, UGH! Usually takes about an hour for the pains to cease. Soft foods like canned peaches and applesauce do not cause pain, but the first bite of meats, or oatmeal and BOOM. We shall see what I can find out!

My Post-Op Diet Log (START: Mushies Stage)

I enjoy reading your post...my diet consist of the following: Breakfast 2-3 oz of Fiber oatmeal Snack 3 oz of applesauce lunch 4-5 thin slices turkey Snack snack cup of no sugar added peaches (or pears) Supper attempt to eat 2-3 bites of whatever I'm cooking...last night was a meatball...ONE meatball, small meatballs, lol. Snack FUDGE POP!! So seeing someone getting to eat what seems like a TON of food is something to look forward too! I have to go see a gastronologit (sp) next monday, when I eat any real food I start having extreme intestinal cramps....:sad0: My sleeve Dr. gave me some anti spasm medication but it doesn't always work...hope they can figure out something!

    Food for thought

I shall do the chicken dance if/when I'm ever able to eat a full cup of real FOOD! and with CRACKERS! Takes me 20 minutes to get down that 4 oz of applesauce and even then I leave some in the cup! This saturday I'm making my extended family go to a fancy resturant for my birthday, so I can watch everyone eat awesome food...I'm serious, since I can't eat I want everyone else to eat so I can see and smell, if I'm lucky I might get to cough down a spoon full or two! Band and sleeve restriction is sooooooo different.
  23. My Doc said once I could start feeling when my stomach was empty I could drink closer to meal times...so I can drink up until about 10 minutes before I eat...

    Vegetables

Okay, I'm a broken record, but tell me again when everyone started eating veggies more? Tomatos, brocolli, carrots, NOT cooked...I might have to try me a beefsteak tomato tonight with a little ranch...I was a major salad eater and I don't think I'm ready for lettuce yet...I liked the bad salads, but it was salad!!

    I am FREEZING

I agree, when I lost the 200 lb with the band I was CONSTANTLY cold...especially in resturants or the movies---I still bring my blanket to the movies. I would order hot chocolate for my drink...that is one part I'm not looking forward too again.
