    Pych evaluation

Thanks Everyone this is all very helpful. I don't have a problem with the eval at all. Just could not imagine what we would talk about for 2 hours! I just really want to get started on this journey. I read all the success stories, I know it is not going to be easy but what in life is easy. My husband got me a WI Fit for Christmas, which I requested, I am pulling my bike out of the extra bedroom that is currently collecting dust, now to just get on it. :confused1: I am so tired after working 10-11 hours a day. Everyone talks about more energy after they have the sleeve done. I sure hope so. I know over the years when I did lost weight I had more energy. I just keep telling myself I am one day closer but it sure would be easier if I had a firm date..
  2. Jenn20, I am also just starting the process. I went to a seminar in Oct and then to the monthly support groups, which is very good and informative if you can find one in your area. I was just waiting for Jan 1st to get here. That was when my new insurance started and I knew they were going to cover it just could not get anyone to tell me the requirements until then. Now I have picked a surgeon, the insurance person has called and got the requirements. So now the insurance person at the surgeons office is going to send me a letter with the requirements. Besides the regular requirements, BMI, High Blood pressure, sleep apena, I have to have 5 year weight history (no prob) 6 month doc supervised diet (I was on herblife for 6 months and my primary doctor said she made notes of my progress on it when I went in for other things) So I hope this is enough, and a psych eval. I was really hoping this would go alot faster than it seems to be. Anyway, once i see the psych and fill out all the forms and get records from my primary doctor then the will submit it to my insurance company and from there they said the insurance company has 30 days to approve or disapprove. I was really hoping to get started on my journey this month but at this rate I sure hope it is sometime in Feb at least. My husband I am always such a easy going person but says I am not being very patient with this. He is probably right. but I am so excited to get started. Guess we just have to hang in there together.

    Jackie 8 months out

Chancie, you look great! I can not wait. If it is not out of line can I ask how much you weighed to start with. I am waiting on approval for the sleeve and started reading all this online. From what I can tell I have so much more to lose than alot of people. Shylady318
  4. I am so excited. My husbands insurance is going to start paying for the sleeve Jan. 1st. Now i am trying to decide on a doctor. I have been to Dr Nick's semiar and support groups for a couple of months now. Now a friend of the family told be about Dr Barker also. How did anyone decided on which doctor to go to? Both seem to be on the our insurance plan(UHC). I have been reading all these forums for weeks now, i really want to do this right away. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :001_unsure:

Longhorn, how did yours go? Didn't you just have it the other day? Twobluecats, Great thanks for the information. That is what i was trying to figure out : The "requirements" noted on the paperwork indicate less than 5 grams of sugar per serving and at least 15 grams of Protein. I remember someone at the support group i went to mentioned the Premier Protein Drink from costco also. Isn't this a ready to drink one? I think i would probably do better with ready made, especially at work. What is the limit of the carbs a day? All of this is so helpful, thanks everyone. Does anyone go to the support group at Plano baylor? I have been the last 2 months.

Thanks 1Linda! Great I know I can do that. I survived on Herbalife for weeks. Now from what everyone says I need to find a portein drink I can stand. I am sure the nurtionist will tell me all that stuff, but is there a certain requirement for the portein drink? there are so many out there.

I have finally decided, I am going with Dr Nick. He was my first choice, went and met Dr Hamn yesterday. He was nice enough. Also met with my primary doctor yesterday, she said of course the decision was mine, but she has heard great things about Dr Nick's support system and that is what I am really going to need. She knows me all too well. I was just afraid I was just jumping with the first one, but I feel better now. So Dr Nick's office will run it through with my insurance next week. I can not wait. Now that that is decided more questions.. The 2 week liquid diet pre op, i have heard and read several things, is it totally liquid or is there one meal a day? I can not wait till I finally start my journey.

This is all great information. Thanks. How long did it take you to get approved and scheduled? I guess now that my mind is made up I just want to get started. I know only a week left till Jan but it seems like months. I have it down to 3 doctors I think.. Dr Nick, Dr Barker, or Dr Hamn. I heard that Dr Barker you have to wait hours at his office for your appointment, was wondering if all of them are like this? And if their pre opt diets are the same? if anyone knows.

Oh my great. was there any of this pre qualifications I seen everyone talking about? Can if possiblity be that easy. I have been researching and reading all about this every since I found out in October that my husbands insurance was going to start covering it starting Jan 1st. I have been counting the days till Jan 1st. UHC would not tell me anything until Jan 1 about anything about whether or not there was any pre stuff like 6 month diet,m 5 year weight history, etc. so I am going this week to my primary and getting the 5 year history just in case. I sure hope there is no 6 month diet thing. So what does Dr Hamn require? I am open to any and all the information you would share. Does he require the 2 week liquid diet i have been reading about, etc. I have so many questions. Thank you

Longhorn, How long did it take you to get approval for UHC using Dr Hamn? It seems my primary doctor mentioned him also. I see my primary doctor on the 30th and was going to ask her also about doctors.
