    Burping

I'm 6 weeks out now and it's not constant for me anymore. There is still some burping after eating or drinking, but no big man belches for me anymore! :blushing: And they're the kind of little burps where I can keep my mouth closed so I don't draw everyone's attention. I think I burp less & less every day. But from what stacie said, maybe it's different for everyone?

    Portion Size

Refried beans were what I was most looking forward to after I got out of surgery. (That and peanut butter!) I think my first day of mushies I wasn't even able to finish my 1/4c. and was disappointed because I waited so long for them! :blushing: LOL. I'm 6 weeks out and my dietitian has told me I should be eating 1/4c. at each meal & no snacking. I don't know if she will tell me differently at my 3 month post-op appt. or not. But it was definitely a change going from 1/2c. soup at each meal to 1/4c. of mushies and now solids! It's a big change, and tough to getting used to stopping, but you'll get used to it. I too have had a couple of times where I ate too much...and paid for it in pain! Keep doing what you're doing, lady! :lol0:

    Calcium Citrate

My order of Bariatric Advantage chewy chocolate calcitrate + vitamin D thingers will be shipped tomorrow. Woot! They are so yummy. I think they have 15 cals apiece, and I think it's 3 or 4 per day (I had it figured out once but forgot, LOL). So I figure that's not too bad. And when I asked my dietitian about the calorie count she told me not to worry about it. They are a little on the pricey side but I'm just sick of pills. I've never been good at taking them (I get that from my grandma!), so for me it is worth every penny! Excited to get something besides the 4 horsepills a day I'm currently taking since they get stuck in my throat. Hope y'all find something that works!

    Monday Morning Weigh In

6 weeks out today. I stepped on the scale and........238.6!!!!!!! I'm out of the 240s! :blushing: Not that big a deal, but I was ready to move on, LOL! That means I've lost 25.8 lbs in 6 weeks. I'm cool with that! :lol0:
  8. Thank you so much for posting this!!! Pizza was one of my favorites pre-op and I'm so glad to know that I will eventually be able to have my slice. :blushing: I was so excited I told the fiance we're going to Papa Murphy's next time he comes to visit me! Woot! You made my week! :lol0:
  9. Ok, so I started my Vitamins this week, now that I'm 4 weeks out. I had been taking 4 of those chewable Bariatric Advantage vitamins a day - yuck! Here is what my pharmacist at the bariatric office gave me: B12 500 MCG - 1x daily Calcitrate (Calcium citrate + Vitamin D) - 2x daily, 2 pills each time Ferrex 150 (iron) - 1x daily And I bought the Flintstones Complete for my multivit, which I take 2x daily. I have been taking all of these since Monday, following the rules about (preferably) taking them with meals, not taking Iron & calcium together, not taking iron w/ dairy. I haven't yet started taking the iron with Vitamin C (which the dietitian said makes it absorb better), but I can't yet have most of the vit C rich foods. Anyway, so I'm taking it 1/2 hr after Breakfast with Water. And it's making me nauseous. :crying: I've read the threads for what some of you are taking for iron. I don't think there are any chewable iron supplements on the recommended list from my pharmacist, but I go back for my 4 week appointments next Monday & plan to ask then whether I can switch to a chewable. I was just wondering if anyone else got the nausea feeling? I can't take it any closer to my meals because of the 30 minutes rule, but I don't know what else to do! My horsepill calcium & the B-12 tablets are fine. It's just the iron that's messing me up. Any insight/advice is greatly appreciated! :blushing:

    Favorite protein?

I didn't think they were too bad, but personally I wasn't a big fan of any of the chocolate flavors. I got the sample pack & ended up deciding on caramel toffee fudge, with rocky road as my #2 flavor. :lol0:

    Buffet??

This made me laugh. A lot. :scared0: And by the way, Thin, I know you said you're trying to steer clear of carbs, but toast is actually on my "allowed" list, starting with soft solids.

    Buffet??

I would love to go someday. I had planned to teach ESL in China after I graduate from college (this May), but used my sleeve as a way to talk myself out of going....... I love to travel, but I am also a big homebody and I love being around my family (and fiance). I studied abroad in Wales Fall 2008, so that was my big travel experience so far, and while there I realized how much emphasis there is in other countries to speak another language fluently (besides English). That's the main reason I'm taking Chinese now. I have taken Spanish, French, German, and Welsh, and yet I am only fluent in English. So while I'm graduating soon I hope I can keep taking Chinese classes somewhere. Did you do the Tai Chi?! That would be fun! I hope to see the Great Wall someday too and I also want to visit Guilin, it's the city with the cone-shaped limestone rock formations. Google image it because I can't really explain! I'm curious, did you take Japanese classes or use Rosette Stone or something like that? I initially would have preferred Japanese but my college doesn't offer it. But now am glad I'm taking Chinese - you kinda get attached! :cursing:

    Buffet??

LOL! Thanks for making me laugh, Kokonut. And I will definitely update you guys post-buffet experience! I guess I just need to approach the situation with bossy/nosey lady differently. If she brings it up it's probably because she realizes she is eating enough for three people. :lol0: And I can feel good knowing that I'm no longer killing myself by putting large amounts of artery clogging food in my body! You guys always make me feel better! Thanks!
  14. I'm just over a month out and my physical therapist has me doing strength training exercises to try to help a little with the excess skin. I have 3 to target arms, 3 to target legs, and 3 to target midsection. Each exercise is supposed to target a different specific muscle. I don't know if that helps, but I'm doing it! :lol0:

    Chronic Constipation

If you think your iron supplement is contributing to the constipation, my dietitian told me the Bariatric Advantage chewable iron tablets seem to cause less issue with that. Something about how many iron supplements are made up of an iron compound which is what causes the constipation, but the chewables are straight iron (with some vitamin C) so they don't have that same effect. I figure it's worth a shot! I think Thinoneday is taking the chewables & said she doesn't have this problem. Mine are in the mail! :lol0:

Trying out web cam, down 32lbs.

Wow, you can really see the difference in your face! Keep up the amazing work!

    Buffet??

Wow, thanks for all the great advice! I think I will try to call them ahead of time if I can get ahold of the number. Then I could ask about child pricing and/or a la carte ordering. I think what frustrates me the most is this lady...and I appreciate the advice on that too! Now I can at least look forward to going & maybe some yummy soup! :lol0: Thanks again sleeve sisters!

    Iron Supplements & Nausea

When I told my dietitian that I was waiting 1/2 hr after meals to take my Iron, she said "Who told you to wait?!" and I said well.....you always say we have to wait to have a drink. And she felt really bad and said that I could take it with a sip of Water during the meal if that helped. After trying the sample she gave me however, I just went ahead & ordered the chewables. They are probably more expensive than regular iron capsules because at least the ones I ordered are the Bariatric Advantage, but I think it's worth it! :lol0:

    Vacation after surgery???

Hi Jenn, I think I pretty much agree with everything that's been said. I had my surgery 1 1/2 months ago, and I turned 21 last June. Actually, my birthday was right before I started researching WLS. As someone your age, I would say the birthday party is not worth it. I woke up the day after, as a person who never gets hangovers, with a huge headache, a stain on my new shirt and looking and feeling like crap. Now I look back at the pictures from that night and find myself sad that I was SO big then! Not to mention my amazing friends took pictures of all those drinks coming back up....I would say if I were in your shoes, I would have the surgery in June and celebrate your new life on your birthday! I feel like it's an especially huge decision to have surgery for those of us who are so young, simply because most people our age aren't worrying about their health at this point. If you really want the cruise then go, but how much is one night (that you won't even remember if you do it pre-op, trust me!) worth to you, both in cost and in waiting another 7 months? Only you can decide, and I think it's great you're seeking advice. Personally, I did most of my partying before I was legal...oops! So I'm okay with not drinking now. I like the occasional glass of wine, and knowing that in a few months I'll be okay to do that is fine with me. It's really up to you and good luck with figuring it all out! Also, congrats on beginning your classes! :lol0:

    Nutrition Data?

Hi, hope I'm not reposting this. I searched the forum but didn't find anything. So, here is my dilemma: I LOVE LOVE LOVE the World According to Eggface. (I know others here have mentioned her as well, but if you haven't checked her out, you definitely should! recipes that are WLS friendly and I can't wait to try some! I haven't made any yet as I want to make sure I'm far enough along before I try anything with a lot of ingredients. :crying: However, she does not include nutrition data for her recipes since, depending on how you make the recipe (substitutions, etc.), the data would obviously differ. So, does anyone know of a website where you can input an entire RECIPE (rather than looking up all the individual ingredients) to get the nutritional data? Again, sorry if I reposted this, but this would be immensely helpful! Also, on a sidenote. Thinking of making this: theworldaccordingtoeggface: Got Crabs? for Superbowl Sunday. I will be 5 weeks along by then, so on more normal foods, but wanted to see what others thought! Thanks in advance, fellow sleevies!

    Nutrition Data?

I love recipe surfing. And I totally agree about loving eggface's attitude. She kind of inspires me to keep enjoying cooking even though I can only eat a little bit. :001_tongue:

    Nutrition Data?

They were so good! And I froze them and had two today for dinner & they were just as yummy as they were on Sunday. If I make those again I think I will add a little bit of salt, but other than that....AMAZING! And it feels like a "treat" but is so healthy! Here's the nutrition info I got for the crab bites the way I made them: serving size 2 bites calories: 86 fat: 5g carbs: 2g Protein: 9g That was the nutrition info for using 1 TBS of benecol light spread, but I actually only used 1 tsp., so the information is a little higher than the actual bites. :001_tongue:

    Iron Supplements & Nausea

Ordered the Bariatric Advantage chewable Iron in lemon-lime the other day! The dietitian gave me a sample and they taste pretty good! They're super lemony. I made this face. :001_tongue: haha. Oregon, if you're looking to switch I would second Thin on the BA chewables! Also ordered the Bariatric Advantage calitrate chewables in chocolate. Yum!!! Anyone else know anything about getting Vitamin C with iron to absorb the iron better?

    Very Scared Something is Wrong

I agree with LAN2K. I had a kind of similar situation w/ my EKG. It was found that I have an irregular heartbeat (premature ventricular contractions), and my PCM freaked out and told me there was no way I was having surgery. She even got me into the cardiologist the NEXT DAY she was so worried. Turns out after multiple testing that my "condition" doesn't interfere with my daily life so I don't really need to worry about it. So the cardiologist wanted to put me on a beta blocker to get me through surgery. He said if I weren't having surgery he wouldn't have prescribed anything at all. Come to find out, beta blockers are pretty common for pre-surgery anyway. I know it's difficult but I wouldn't worry, otherwise you risk worrying yourself sick and that's no good! Hope everything's okay & let us know what happens!
