    Hey Tiffy, how far out did you start eating jerky? My brother made me some venison jerky and says it's not tough like store-bought stuff, but I wasn't sure when I could start eating it.

    I know it's been awhile but thanks for posting this! I made this last night. Correction...my fiance made it. :lol0: But it was soooooo yummy! And nice to have a recipe for once rather than eating a single food as I've been doing. And the fiance loved it too! Luckily I got one of those guys who doesn't complain about meatless meals. :blushing:

    I definitely agree with Tracy & Angel. I don't miss the actual food itself, I miss the social part of eating. And I'm sick of eating around family & friends and having them say "that's ALL you can eat?!" and look at me with pity. :lol0: It's aggravating that people don't take the time to understand. But other than that, I'm happy with how much & what I'm eating now! :blushing:

    Thanks for mentioning this! The Nectar Chocolate Truffle protein powder I got pre-op is sickly sweet for me now, but I tried adding the PB2 last night and it's sooooooo good. :lol0:

    Oooh, now I want THAT recipe! Today: Breakfast: 1/4c. oatmeal made w/ water Lunch: 1/4c. prepared tuna salad + 3 fatfree saltines Dinner: 2 slices of chicken lunchmeat (1 oz.) + 1 string cheese stick (1 oz.) Snack: 8 oz. shake w/ milk Gotta make another shake!

    Laura, that Arby's sandwich sounds yummy! Hehe. I haven't tried baked potato yet though I'm now allowed to. I should do that.. Thin, I know what you mean w/ the amounts people eat! People watch me eat and can't believe that I'm not dead from lack of nutrition :thumbup:. Then I watch them eat and wow...I just cannot comprehend that much food anymore! I haven't been out to eat yet so that will be interesting...hoping to go to Red Lobster this weekend where I will have some steamed crab legs (I don't like it with the butter anyway) and some nice steamed broccoli. And I will get to eat it for a couple days!! It's the same thing I got pre-op actually, but I'm so excited! :thumbup: So here's what I had today: Breakfast: 2 fatfree saltine crackers, 2 slices of roast chicken lunchmeat (about 1 oz), 3 little mandarin orange slices Lunch: 1 1/2 oz of the prepared tuna salad on 3 fatfree saltines Snack: a shake w/ 8 oz. milk Dinner: 2 slices roast chicken lunchmeat & a 3/4 oz. Laughing Cow cheese Snack: need to make my second shake!

    Here's an update from Tiffykins: "Everything went well, I'm actually on my way home. Dr R did an endoscopy as well & said my sleeve looks fabulous." :thumbup1:

    I am SURE I am overthinking this...

    I had the same problem! I'm officially 1 month out today (Thursday!) and I'm trying to start drinking more plain water. I've had to add crystal light to everything because I have ALWAYS been a water-only drinker and so I have always gulped it. While the new tummy is healing, anything more than a sip will be painful. You will know if you're taking too big of sips! :drool5: It's good that you're trying it out now, I personally never thought about it before surgery, but I think it will get easier when you're post-op because if you gulp, it will hurt. Very good deterrent! LOL. There have been times where I forgot and took too big a drink, and I literally spit it out because I knew that if it got to my tummy, there would be pain! This probably sounds gross, so sorry about that! But now I'm to the point of taking a gulp, but keeping it in my mouth and taking tiny swallows if that makes sense. That way I don't have to bring the cup up to my mouth every two seconds. I sit in classes all day, so it looks weird. :thumbup1: And it does get better with the sipping. I can definitely take bigger drinks than I was three or four weeks ago. And I don't know about others but I think I saw Tiffykins post somewhere that she can take gulps now with no problems.:crying:

    That sounds good! I think I have some tomato soup around here somewhere. I'll have to find it! I had: Breakfast: 3 fat-free saltines w/ 1 TBL smart balance peanut butter Lunch: 2 slices thinly sliced chicken lunchmeat w/ 1 tsp. benecol spread and 1/8c. mandarin oranges Dinner: 1 1/4 oz. ground chicken burger & a 3/4 oz. Laughing Cow cheese. MMM. :drool5: Evening: 2 shakes (still gotta make one....) :thumbup1:

    You're not full after or you're still hungry after? If you're waiting to feel full, I would say that doesn't really happen on full liquids. The soup basically slides right through your new tummy. Once you get to mushies you will know when to stop. I was told 4 oz. for each meal while I was on full liquids, and I was fine with that. If you're actually hungry I'm not sure because, well, I didn't have that issue. :blushing: Hope this helps!

    Iron Supplements & Nausea

    Hey Thin! Thanks for the advice. I just called my dietitian because after googling the Bariatric Advantage iron supplements, I saw that they come in three different flavors, each is a different amount/dosage, so I wasn't sure which one they suggest. But they said they sell the lemon lime flavor which is apparently 60mg in each chewable. I am going to get some on Monday & am so excited! She said that people who do the chewables usually have less constipation too, sorry TMI. :blushing: Wow, I'm really excited about the whole not-having-nausea thing. And I like that the supplements include Vitamin C so I don't have to worry so much about eating them with the vitamin C foods. Thank you again! :crying:

    Hi Thin! I understand you not wanting to jeopardize your weightloss, but from what I've read around here, sometimes not eating *enough* calories can also stall loss. My dietitian recommends 600-800 a day. I think it's pretty crucial that you've figured out your trigger food, those evil carbs! I read Eggface's blog & she hasn't had bread, pasta, etc. since her RNY surgery in 2006. I myself *WAS* an emotional eater so I've struggled to correct that issue. I don't think what you're doing is necessarily wrong, but I personally would feel deprived if I limited myself so much. I chose the sleeve because at some point, I will be able to eat normally again, just in tinier portions. I did not have surgery to limit myself to another diet. I think that if what you're doing is working for you than that is awesome & keep it up!!! And I also know we're all trying to figure out this new way of life together so keep asking questions. :blushing: Have you talked to your surgeon/dietitian/nutritionist about this? If not, they may have some advice too.

    LOVING soft solids! :lol0: Today Breakfast: 1 fatfree saltine cracker, about 1/8 c. oatmeal (w/ water) Lunch: 2 slices of thinly sliced chicken lunchmeat (about 1 oz.) and 1/8 c. no sugar added mandarin oranges Afternoon: 8 oz. shake Dinner: 1 oz. of grilled ground chicken patty in tiny pieces, and a 3/4oz. piece of Laughing Cow garlic & herb cheese Nighttime: I'll have another 8 oz. shake. I think this will be one of the first times I'm going to go OVER the 64 oz. minimum, so I'm pretty psyched about that! Thanks Haley! And to be totally honest, I feel so satisfied with my mini-sized portions. It's still a strange concept to me, but I like it! :blushing:

    First day on soft solids! Woot! I know no one's posted here lately but I think I'm more likely to post on here than write it down (I always tell myself I'll remember...and then I don't) and I can come back and transfer it to my food journal later! Breakfast: 1/4 c. oatmeal w/ water Lunch: 2 slices of thinly sliced chicken breast lunchmeat (about 1 oz) Afternoon snack: 8 oz. Optimum whey shake w/ milk Dinner: About 1 1/4 oz. of ground chicken made into a burger, and about 1/2 oz. of Laughing Cow cheese Night snack: a 1/4 oz. of Laughing Cow (started vitamins today & forgot to take them with dinner :scared0:) & later...another 8 oz. shake

    Thanks for the advice, all! I did call my dietitian & she said not to worry about counting carbs at all. :blushing: She said so long as I do protein first, the carbs shouldn't be that high. I'm thinking I'll keep track but not worry myself over it unless I hit a big stall, then I might start trying to do less carbs. Thanks again! :confused1:

    So, today I had my "two week" check-up (a few days early since I go back to college on Sunday), and the surgeon & dietitian said I'm doing great! I realized once I got home and started using my "Personal Food & Fitness Journal" (which is nice because I can keep track of my diet & exercise in one place! :biggrin0:)...I kept track of what I've been eating. With 2 protein shakes a day and BEFORE dinner, I'm eating 390 cals, 4g fat, and 42.4 carbs. Also, strangely, 42.4g of protein so far today. I'm slowly but surely getting to 64 oz of fluid a day, but my main concern is the carbs. I know we're supposed to stay as low carb as possible while losing, but I was wondering when you guys really started worrying about the calorie & carb counts?? I'm still on full liquids so I've been doing 2 protein shakes (210 calories per drink when made with skim milk) and about 2 - 4oz. servings of soup (also with skim) and then about 5 or 6 oz. cream of wheat (also skim) per day. All the soup (which is what they told me to eat) is a LOT of carbs. So someone help me please! :drool5: Should I be worried at this stage about my carb count? Or is it just once I'm on "real" food? Any advice would be muchly appreciated.

    That sounds really good! Have you ever frozen any leftovers of it before? I'm just wondering because while I'm at college I'm just cooking for myself so if I made it I would definitely need to freeze some. Thanks for sharing! I'm bookmarking this. :frown1:

    Mmm, finding so many things on there that I want to try! The eggplant lasagna sounds yummy. & I like how the recipes already have the nutritional data. I start soft solids on Monday, so excited! :thumbup: Thinking about having http://www.lap-band-surgery-site.com/healthy-meatloaf.html next weekend. Definitely ready to move on to some more foods.

    Sugar-free pudding (made from the box), sugar-free jello, skim milk, thinned cream-based soups with the chunks/bits of food strained out, thinned cream of wheat. Those were all on my allowed-foods list for full liquids. I pretty much survived on the soup! I did cream of mushroom, cream of broccoli, tomato soup, broccoli cheese, clam chowder (just the liquid), and cream of celery. :smile:
