  1. Thanks ladies for all the possitive words it really made me feel so much better to hear from you all, I really think that having the support here does more for me than anything my medical team does they don't seam that interested now that the surgery is done!

I will pick myself up and go and do something nice tomorrow !

    thanks again

  2. Hi Everyone,

I have been feeling really down for the last couple of days nothing physically wrong but just feel miserable, I am 5 weeks post op and haven't really had any problems since my op, perhaps that is partly what is wrong now I am worried that eating is too easy, yesterday I had a very bad day and I ate 3 small bars or chocolate during the course of the day and it didn't make me feel ill at all, this just made me more down.I had hoped that being sleeved would make eating things like chocolate more difficult, but it doesn't have that affect on me.

Does anyone else feel like this ? :lol0:

  3. Hi I live in the uk and we don't use Protein Drinks at all, I an 4 weeks out and up untill now I have been eating liquidised food now I can have food that can be mashed with a fork, like fish, ground beef, chicken or pork. I always add plenty of gravey to make it easier to eat I usually have about 2oz of Protein with a tablespoon of mashed potato & the same of veg.. I try to have fruit between meals or fat free yoghurt, sugar free Jello is good also, I'm really not good at drinking my Water, but my dietitian says coffee tea & squash are ok to get my fluids up.

If you are losing weight well with what you are doing, and you are staying healthy, then it must be good for you.

    Keep up the good work.....

  4. Angela, I had my surgery done in the UK and here we are only on clear liquid for 1 day after surgery then we go on to liquidised food like mashed potato fish and some sort of sauce whizzed in the blender, really soft egg mushed up and yes smooth yoghurt, thin oatmeal, custard, and things like that , we don't do the Protein Shakes at all. I am now 3 weeks out and I am moving on to mashed food gradually that is any kind of food that can be mashed down with a fork, fish, omelette, minced meat and again add some sauce or gravey to make it go down easily if you have any problems.

    Hope this helps,

I find it really helpfull reading other peoples posts on here it has answered all my questions and worries, so glad I found it !

  5. Hi I had my sleeve done in the uk 12 days ago my typical days food intake at this time is:-

100 -150 mls runny oatmeal made with skimmed milk

    coffee

    petite filous

    Lentil & ham & veg Soup liquidised 100 - 150ml

    sugar free juice

    pureed fruit 75ml

chicken casserole lots of stock liquidised 100 - 150 ml

    coffee

sugar free jelly/jello or fat free yoghurt 100ml

    skimmed milk warmed 100mls

I feel this is quite a lot, but my dietician is really happy with it, I have been told to move on to mashed food at around 4 weeks post op if I can cope with it.

  6. Everyone is so nice, I am really glad I found this site, my surgeon does mainly gastric band & bypass surgery so I don't have anyone to talk to that has had the same op, now I have all of you I feel less panic stricken because you are all going through exactly the same as me and hopefully someone can answer any of the stupid little questions that pop into my head from time to time.

Thank you all for being there.

  7. Hi Piglet,

I'm 1 week out of surgery and eating does not appear to give me any problems other than burping lots, I have 100ml really runny porridge for Breakfast, 150ml skimmed milk latte mid morning, lunch today was 100ml lentil & ham & veg Soup well liquidised, I will have another 150ml skimmed milk latte mid afternoon then probably mashed potato with liquidised beef & veg with lots of gravy probably 100mls then supper will be yoghurt or fromage frais fat free of course. I am a bit worried that I am finding it all too easy as I don't really have any discomfort at all. the hospital tried to feed me mashed potato & gravy on day 3 !!!! but another patient told me not to eat it as It was too soon.

I had my surgery done in Newcastle where were you done ?

  8. Hi, I have never used a forum before so I hope this is ok.

I live in the North of England, and I had my VSG op last wednesday, everything seems to be going well, wounds are healing well, and I am managing to eat & drink ok, and that it what is worring me, I seem to be able to manage everything too easily, already today for breakfast I had 150ml of runny oatmeal, mid morning I had about the same amount of fat free yoghurt, and for lunch I had 2tbls of liquidised fish with parsley sauce with 1tbls mashed potato. None of these foods gave me any problems, does this sound ok for 1 week out of surgery ?:001_tongue:
