    Tomorrow is my day!

Loosing, you have lots of support and this week, there are a bunch of us getting sleeve and I'm sure we're all feeling the same way. Hang in there, you'll be back home in no time......
  4. For the chest xray you have to take off your bra, but you wear a gown. It's a stand up test....

    Tell me the truth.

Well, I'm going to be the voice of reason here....I have been doing liquids for one full week and have another full week to go...I have not cheated one bit...I've actually been a little more restrictive...I'm allowed broth and sugar free Jello, etc...but have had none of it..... coffee, 3 shakes a day and a ton of Water.....down 15 pounds in 6 days and just keep thinking it's a drop in the bucket, but eventually the drops add up! For me if I eat the cheese, I may eat another piece tomorrow and then reason with myself how I could propably have a small piece of chicken or some other non-liquid Protein...One piece of cheese could end up setting off a whole world of bigger issues....So, I vote to stick with the doctors orders, put down the cheese and drink water, lots of water....You'll be happy in the long run that you followed the plan and lost some additional weight pre-op.
  6. Congratulations on all of your success!!! Best of luck in April, we're all wishing you well....

    I am sleeved!!!!

    Congratulations!!!!!!WooHoo!
  8. Today I started my liquid pre-op.....So far so good, but I'm finding it a little difficult to get organized. I keep reading and re-reading the pre-op diet and the after surgery diet and I feel like there's a ton of things to keep track of and remember to do, 4 different Vitamins, Fiber, specific requirements for Protein shakes, Water, caffeine, carbs, sugar, protein, etc....Not to mention I need to make sure I have an endless supply of skim milk in the house or else I will have to make my 3 shake meals with water.....I just realized today I won't have enough shakes or vitamins to get me through, time to order more... Is anyone else finding it a little overwhelming to keep track of all this, not to mention keeping your day job, going to all the various docs, support group mtgs, running your house, oh and pay attention to family every so often and not just talk about the surgery with them?
  9. My pre-op menu is: 9-11 coffee /skim milk (probably 1/2 Cup milk in total) - 45 calories, 4 Protein 11 - shake w/skim milk - 190 calories, 28 protein 3:30 shke w/skim milk - 190 calories, 28 protein 7:30 shake w/skim milk - 190 calories, 28 protein 615 calories and 88 protein a day Constantly drink Water all day long. I work from home so the water part is fairly easy. In 6 days I've lost 15.1 lbs.
  10. How's everyone's pre-op going that is getting sleeved the week of 1/25...I am pleasantly surprised that drinking shakes and water isn't so bad...Plus in 5 days I'm down 13 lbs...it will all add up and get me closer to goal!
  11. hey there - things getting better?

  12. Hey everyone!!! I just got my date and I'm psyched!!! I"ve been reading all the posts for awhile now and adding a couple of my own here and there, but now I plan to be a full fledged active participating part of the VSG community..... My 2 week liquid pre-op diet starts in 6 days and all I keep focusing on is how many good bottles of wine can I drink between now and then...My hubby and I love wine...I more then him....He's supportive of me and the surgery, but a little bummed that I will be taking a break from the wine and the winery trips we take....So, I'm loading up now....LOL I'm ok giving up wine and large portions of food now for a healthier lifestyle long term (and I know I will incorporate smaller portions and wine back in later). Here's to a thinner 2010 and to saving lots of $$$$ on buying cases of wine and tons of food...All the extra cash is going to my new wardrobe and shoe fund!!!!
  13. I use the Unjury. I really do like it....even my hubby who is very particular says it tastes like a malted...I find that it is best when I do it in the blender with a lot of ice....just mixing it with milk and powder, I don't like nearly as much.

Pre Op Day 4: Small Cheats...

I'm on day 3 and I'm allowed 3-4 shakes a day and Water....So, what I've decided to do is dress these shakes up as best I can...Last night while my husband was drinking a martini I put my shake in a tall daquiri glass with an umbrella. It made me feel like I was joining him with a fun cocktail. Also, what've I've been doing with the vanilla is add a teaspoon of sugar free orange metamucil and blend with lots of ice. I've convinved myself I'm enjoying a fabulous dreamsicle milk shake. Honestly, the teaspoon of Fiber and all the ice make it very thick and heavy. It really fills me up...There's no way I will be able to do this after surgery....but for now, bottoms up! cheers!
  15. I just made a yummy creamsicle shake with vanilla powder, 1 cup of milk, tons of ice and 1 tsp of sugar free orange flavored metamucil.....We need to get some fiber in our diets, so this is a tasty way....

    Day 4 of pre-op diet

My surgeon said he will not do the surgery if you're still smoking...they will test your blood for tobacco usage.

    Sleeve scheduled for 1/27...

Hi Laura - I'm the 27th also, just finishing up day 2 of the pre-op....You'll find this so very very helpful...It's wonderful having support of folks going through all the stages at the same time...I look forward to hearing about your progress...
  18. I find if I make my shakes in the blender with lots of ice, it's way more fun to drink!!!

    At the hospital

Glad to hear you're doing well...I've been watching for your update from the hospital, as I'm sure many have.....

    Why?

I went to my pre-op meeting today and they explained that the carbonation can expand your stomach over time...That's why not carbonation....She said, just because things may go down easily it doesn't mean we should be eating or drinking it.....no soda, no beer, no champagne ever....<Those were her words>

Congrats Early, Best of luck for a speedy recovery!
  22. Hi guys - I started my pre-op all liquids today too....So far I've had 2cups of coffee, one shake and water...That's pretty much my menu for the next 2 weeks....I like the Unjury shakes as well...I haven't really tried many others since I liked this one right off the bat.....
  23. Well my final day of gluttony consisted of buttered roll for breakfast, ice cream for lunch and an eggroll and General Tso's Chinese food for dinner...oh and a diet coke....I'm not a big soda drinker, but I figured why not...I'm stuffed from dinner and looking forward to liquids and actually feeling hunger again......Thanks everyone for suggestions!!!!
  24. Tomorrow is the last day before I begin my liquid only pre-op diet. Any suggestions on what I should eat? I know this may appear silly, but I have tried the past couple of weeks to not go crazy...and now I wonder if maybe I should have splurged a little more on some unfriendly sleeve foods.....

    Caffeine???

It's kind of interesting, I just re-looked over all the documents the surgeon gave me and the nut gave me. Doc says 1-2 cups of coffee a day is ok. Nut says 1 cup of coffee is ok, but then later on in her documentation it says decaf coffee only....I think what I'm going to do is drink 1-2 cups of lite coffee (half caff. half decaf) on the pre-op diet and then see how I feel after surgery. I may only want hot decaf tea, more soothing on the stomach.
