    Flabby

Ok.. I'm almost 4 weeks out.. amazing that I'm saying that.. tomorrow I do my week 4 weigh in.. I have lost 27.. hopefully more and I'm not complaining by any means but did any of you remember feeling mushy or flabby?? I'm going to add weight lifting in this coming week but am surprised at how "soft" I feel suddenly.... fat was firm.. if that makes sense... feedback? Thanks, ~Chandra/shutterbug

Thanks ladies! I will be fighting the flab for sure but was just so surprised at how much my muscle tone or "tight, firm.. fat" has changed. I am enjoying my appearance more so it's a trade off! I will be healthier so THAT makes this a no-brainer for being a good trade off! Have a nice night! ~Chandra/ shutterbug

  10. I have seen alot of stuff on hair loss and suddenly am very worried about it. I can not take a fish oil capsule or haven't found one I can take yet that doesn't make me burp up fish taste and that makes me want to throw up... HELP any good ones out there that you have tried after having burp up tastes from others?? I have chewables for later that are supposed to be wonderful but am still on mushy food stage so not sure I can take them in yet. ALSO.... does the hair grow back? I seem to be getting mixed messages on that Thank you, ~Chandra/shutterbug
  11. Hi Paula,

Just checking in to see how you are doing? Did your surgeon give you any recommendations to avoid hair loss? I am getting worried about that after reading so many posts of it. How is your eating going? Are you enjoying anything in particular. Yesterday I had fat free refried beans with a piece of cheese melted on top..it was good. I scooped out half a cup and was only able to eat about 1/2 of it. Other foods I can eat more.... it's an interesting learning process for sure. I hope you are well.

p.s. Also wanted to share that my surgeon told me that leaking from movement at this point (2 weeks out) was unlikely.. he'd never seen it and has done over 200 surgeries.. that I was more likely to leak from overeating that from exercise..so i was given the go to lift weights and do my elliptical etc.. he said NO restrictions.. just if it didn't feel good.. don't do it...

I had some "fears" in me from reading the posts about leaks....

    Listen to your body

Thank you for the reminder... I have noticed I can eat like a 5oz yogurt in 10 min.. I do feel full/ satisfied but I wondered if I was eating too fast.. it's so much slower than before but maybe not slow enough... I don't like that my warm "egg" is cold by the time I eat 1/4 of it and if I reheat.. things dry out... it is HARD to eat that slow for food enjoyment reasons as well....
  13. I am weighing in once a week but have wanted to find out during the week if it's "working" still.... for me it's too obsessive to weigh in daily.. it will turn into a now I feel good or now I feel bad depending on the scale so I don't even weigh at home, don't have a scale.. I go to my friends so that I won't jump on it all the time. I can see, however, how others use it as a daily tool to keep them on track.. I guess it will be what works for you. I have a feeling after your first weigh in when you see a big loss you will want to get on it at least every week. ... as far as the leak worries. I too read about that on here and got very scared. I saw my surgeon at 2 weeks post op and he told me that at 2 weeks you are already well healed and the likelihood of a leak from movement or anything like that was rare, he has never seen a leak after 2 weeks.. he told me I was more likely to cause one by overeating than exercise... and we can't overeat easily.. so I was greatly relieved at how secure he was in the fact I won't leak. Hope that helps.... it is good to be aware but hard not to worry about the scary stuff.. reassure yourself by calling your own surgeon or whatever it takes to stay in a good place. ~Chandra/shutterbug

    Sleeve on Jan 12,2010

Hi Deb, I didn't take my hubby.. missed him on the 2nd day but he needed to stay home to get kids to school and events. My surgery was 2 hours away and my best friend and my mom took me down..stayed until I was ok and in my room. The second day I was alone the whole day and while it may have been nice to have some company... the nurses and staff should be attentive enough to help you with anything you need. I had another friend come get me and drive me home. I guess I would ask where are you going for surgery.. is it far away? Will that make you feel a little more scared if you are alone? Try to figure out what will be best for you... maybe hubby can come and go if he goes with you so he is "there" but not having to be in room the whole time... even going to hotel to watch tv or do whatever... or have him available by phone if you can... Hope this helps. ~Chandra/ Shutterbug

    Hair Loss post-op

Hi Rose, I'm almost 3 weeks out and am very worried about too much hair loss. Can you tell me what dosage of Coenzyme Q-10 your surgeon recommended. I looked it up on the internet and it's mostly used for heart conditions, Parkinson's.. etc.... would like to add this in if it will work but wondering on the dosage. Thanks, ~Chandra ... shutterbug
  17. Good Luck Tracy.. I can't believe how much you have gone through... if you get the sleeve I think you will be pleasantly surprised! Keep us posted!
  18. Hi guys, I just weighed in for week 2 and only lost 2lbs. I lost so much the first week, 17.5 that I expected more like 5 the second week, at least 3 or so.... Is this normal? I had no pre-surgical diet except to do Clear liquids the day before .... HELP..can I be doing something wrong already? I am still on full liquids, eating 3 shakes a day for Protein.. Muscle Milk light, made with Water.. about 140 cal per shake and eating Soup and yogurt in between.. yogurt is 100 cal and light. I'm not getting more than 4 cups water in tho.. and will try for upping it to 6 today... any input?

Can't wait to hear about all your successes to come!!
  21. Update... am now 2 and 1/2 weeks out and was cleared for the mushies and exercise... went out to eat last night.. Olive Garden and had a bowl of soup with chicken pieces and dumplings in it... I ate the small pieces of chicken... chewed really well and half the bowl of soup.. left the dumplings and it was not only very yummy but it all sat in my tummy very well. I can get about 6 oz down easily and was concerned with that but realized I'm eating that over about a half hour period... THRILLED that I have had no major tummy upset and yesterday I ate a half of a scrambled egg....

Hi Bambi, This is NOT a selfish choice by any means. You reaching for a better life and better health may feel selfish, expense wise I felt that way too, but the gift it gives to anyone that is in your life by YOU living longer, feeling better, smiling more etc.. is sooo very worth it. My name is Chandra and I'm 2 weeks post op and I have noticed on at least 3 occasions that I am smiling. SMILING and sitting and taking things in life "in" in such a positive way. The sleeve for me and I'm "young" at this is already proving to be such a beautiful tool to help me get out from the control of food..and opening my eyes to possibilities of a better life.. I'm already living a better life... feeling good that I'm eating healthier and going to be able to "do this" for the first time successfully. Good Luck to you.. I do think the sleeve is a top-notch choice! :lol0: ~Chandra
