  1. Thank you for all your replies. My last family function was yesterday and I grazed a little here and there and had a few things like "funyons".. and a couple of chips.. and I am feeling it for sure this am as this is the first time since surgery that I woke up feeling "fat and bloated".. my rings tighter on my hands and today will start an interesting challenge for me of detoxing off those habits again. I knew my sleeve was working because I couldn't eat a lot at one time..but every half hour or so I could get a few bites in and I know those calories and salt are going to show up on the scale ... It is good to know that I'm not alone in being able to resist the temptation or feel the pull towards old habits. I really appreciate the honesty that comes with this forum and there are days that I feel so alone with my new life .. that is right until I come here and read some things and I fall right back into place!! Thanks Tiffy and Judy and all the rest of you who always seem to reply to everyone's threads!
  2. Hi everyone.. just wondering how everyone did for the Holiday with their eating. I found myself nibbling on sweets for the first time on Christmas day and I didn't eat much but am now feeling worried that I may have messed up my whole system and will crave sugar again. I had a handful of pecans that were glazed and one cinn. roll (mini about one inch wide).. and felt like I ate a ton of cheese and it all went in easy and well. Is it normal to feel on occasion that your tummy isn't tiny anymore?? Did anyone experience a bad day this early on.. 5 week post op.. of eating off the healthy wagon and if so were you able to get back in control fast?

    3 Months out

Wow it is amazing how different each surgeon and nutritionalist is. I have had a cup of coffee every day since week 3, half caff or caff free and with just a tiny bit of cream and splenda or truvia it takes me about an hour to sip on and I look forward to it but I had never heard it was a diuretic... I will make sure I'm watching for dehydration. In the beginning I was told that caffeine slows healing down.... I know one thing I still haven't had ONE day of getting in 8 glasses of water since surgery... more like 4-6... and I'm going on week 6... is this normal??

    Oh yes!!!!

Ok I guess last week, week 2 being a period week and only losing 2lbs was Water weight or something because this week I lost 7.5 lbs!!! SERIOUSLY... WOW WOW WOW... I had to check the scale 3x. That puts me at down 27 lbs in 3 weeks (no pre-surgical diet) I have been eating this week as well and was worried that I would gain for some reason.. this is AMAZING.. I'm starting to really notice a difference and am so excited! THANK YOU TO EVERYONE for all your support and encouragement so far!! ~Chandra/shutterbug

    Hello from the UK

Welcome Craig, Enjoy your time here on VST a great place to be and post your progress and thoughts it's a wonderful way to keep others inspired and information seekers informed. :biggrin0:
  6. Thank for the feedback Tiffykins and Tracy... I felt so out of control after finally having so much control for 5 weeks.. and am having an easier time today getting back on track but find myself being drawn to my old habits really bad this Holiday weekend.... and my tummy is able to take in much more food than I thought it would ... I think I can drink a 12-16 oz Protein shake in an hour... I can eat about 2-3oz of food at at time and some times it seems like this is too much ... I need to remember to SLOW down that is hard to remember some days.. but I agree with you Tracy.. in comparison.. there is NONE.. I just don't want to sabotage my losing ability. My surgeon told us that the first 6mths was a "gift" of how fast your body would want to lose weight and after that it's harder.. so I was feeling guilty for for giving into tempation... We will see on my weigh in day on Tuesday what the scale says and hopefully I can at least maintain this week..
  7. Do you guys remember how much you ate approximately when you had this attack about 4mths out.. "Tiffykins and Caro"?? Would be a good heads up for us to have an idea of how far you pushed that this happened...

New to VSG, Old to WLS

Wow so glad to meet you and welcome you to this board. I have only been here for a couple of months but the people here are so warm and friendly and I believe truly care for one another. I hope you get approved and find this the end to your long journey with WLS... so far for me the sleeve is GREAT! Good luck to you! ~Chandra/shutterbug
  10. Hi November Sleevers.. I was sleeved on November 17th and am doing pretty great! I am down 38.5 (no pre-op surgical diet)... and happy to be shrinking. Just this past weekend was the first time someone really looked at me and said.. wow your face looks different.. really good... that was a great feeling! I am still not getting in all my Water.. most days 3 or 4 cups but am hydrated with Protein shakes. If anyone can't stand protein.. try the MUSCLE MILK "milk chocolate" flavor .. it's really yummy... I didn't care for their vanilla or Cookies and cream but the chocolate is great and you can add mint flavoring for "mint choc. chip" and Peanut Butter for peanut butter chocolate.. or decaf coffee for a mocha... it really is good. OH get the "light" .. it's low on carbs!! Excited for Christmas.. hope you all have a fabulous holiday!
  11. Hi Beaglemamma!! WOW how wonderful you are doing! I am not working out as much as I thought I'd be but I plan on hitting it much harder after Christmas. I'm 5 weeks out and have lost 38.5 #'s as of today. My goal was 40# by Christmas.. so I just may make it. What an amazing goad and accomplishment that would be! I have only lost one size..but am a much bigger gal than you and am dreaming of the day I can say I'm in a size 16 pants.. "can't imagine the feeling" ...... Keep us posted and thank you for sharing your story! ~Chandra/shutterbug
  12. GREAT avatar pic.. you are so gorgeous! I will try to have some body shots taken over Christmas and post some new pics!! :) Have a great Holiday!

  13. Hi LabradorLuv,

  14. Deedee .. YOU LOOK FABULOUS!!!!! So amazing!! What an inspiration.... and GREAT arm by the way!! Thanks for sharing the pics.. the snow is beautiful as well!
  15. I have had a tummy problem for almost 2 days now.. am over 4 weeks post op and have had had no problems like this... I am not sure if I caught a "bug" or if this is the sour stomach I hear about occasionally. Any food recommendations when your tummy just feels icky and like you have the beginning of the flu but it doesn't get worse.. just stays the same? Yesterday I got in one protein shake and some crackers but that was it.. previous to this I have been eating really well so am concerned... ~Chandra/shutterbug
  16. Losingmama,

    Scared of being Skinny

I hear ya on your concerns.... I too do not remember what it's like to be thin and worry that if my face gets too skinny will it look older... somehow... I guess the counter balance on it all is that I bet we will be smiling so much more and our eyes will be sparkling and full of life... :drool5:

    Hey...another newbie here!

Hi Jeff, You have found a wonderful place to come for support. I'm so excited for you. At 24 you will have a completely different long and lovely life. I am one month post op and my life is changing daily.. the ability to reach for things you never realized you shut down in your brain long ago starts to come back out... things start to seem possible and I am so excited for you!! WECOME WELCOME.. can't wait to hear more of your story as it progresses. ~Chandra/shutterbug

    Did you tell?

I thought I would not want to share it with anyone who didn't "need" to know but I'm finding that I am telling more people than "not" telling and that I'm not embarrassed that I needed the help I think we know how much work still goes into it and how happy we are and that comes out in our appearance and confidence and it's funny how when you are strong like that about something you get less negativity. My mom who was one of my biggest battlers, worried about me later down the road as an old person..trying to get in all my nutrition... is now saying positive things and treats me with more respect than before surgery.. like she "sees" a change in me not just physically but my happiness and she "gets" it. Tell when you feel something inside that wants to tell.... don't tell if you don't feel like it, it's your body, your life and your business! :lol0: ~Chandra/shutterbug

    sickly

Hey Paula, I have not experienced nausea to the point of throwing up but have had it a bit here and there and have read that others get it. For many it may be the acid in your tummy.. can you try some over the counter Prilosec or call our doctor and ask what they can presribe? I'd for sure call you surgeon and see what they say. I'm eating well and the few times I get nausea I hate it.. I feel so bad for you.... hang in there... !!
