  1. I try to weigh in on Tuesdays. I had my one month follow up and was weighed in to see that I had not really lost anything in a week :001_smile: I was in the bathroom last night and the scale was calling me! I jumped on and still no movement. One thing that my doctor said was that my body may be going into a "starvation mode" because I am only doing 500 calories a day and not getting all of the Protein that I should. I have done well over the last 2 days in keeping a food journal, and I have made myself get at least 800 calories and 70+ grams of protein. Monday I start working out at the local gym with the help of a personal trainer, so I am hoping to see movement!

  2. Folks I am in week 5, and I have done well at about a 45 pound loss. The problem is that I have not lost anything in the last 10 days. I had my one month visit with the Dr. and he was happy overall, but I told him about my stall and we discussed calorie and Protein intake. It turns out that I am only putting in between 500-600 calories a day. He said that I should increase my calories with lean Proteins and get up to at least 800 a day.

Has anyone else been down this road this early on? I am a bit depressed because I thought that the first couple of months was going to be a bit more predictable.

  3. I will be 2 weeks out Monday. I feel great!!! I probably could go back to work Monday, for that matter I could have gone back last Monday, but I don't want to rush it. I planned on 3 weeks, so I am going to stick with the plan.

I have had little to no pain since surgery day. There was some occasional pulling feeling, but other than that no pain at all! My Dr. is great!

I jumped on the scale this morning for a quick weight check. I promised myself I would only weigh every Tuesday, but what can I say. I had to get my wife into the bathroom to weigh herself to make sure the scale was not broken. As of this morning, 12 days out from surgery I have lost 38 pounds! I was real big to start with, so I am sure that is why I am dropping so quick from the start, but I will take it!

  4. I am getting in the program here shortly and I am very excited to move forward. I am really nervous about one thing and I was wondering what all your surgeons told you about the chances of blood clots.

I had a grandparent who passed away after a surgery years ago and they believe a blood clot was to blame. Granted she was in her 70's It is the #1 thing I am afraid of about this surgery.

Any info you have about this issue would be wonderful. Thank you for your responses in advance, I love reading about all your successes and will continue to follow.

    Charger,

My doctor had me get an IVC (Inter Vena Cava) filter put in a couple of weeks before surgery. It is a really cool looking cage type thing that goes in an easy procedure through the leg. The filter sits in the vena cava branch above the legs and is put in place to catch DVT clots that may be thrown during and after the procedure. You may want to look into this.
