    Stretching your sleeve

I am 32 days out. I have never had any problems with vomiting, and glad of it. That means I'm doing things right. I have however had some pain just a couple of times with meats not going down well. You learn as you go as to how much of what to eat. Meats are though for me. But I can eat tuna salad, chicken salad, spaghetti sauce with meat in it (no pasta) & chili with beans. Things with meat that have more liquid in them go down much better. I can eat more of soft foods, like yogurt, pudding, etc. It's like pouring water in an odd shaped container, Liquid can go in every crevice, but you can't push solids in like that. Plus solids stay with you tummy longer because they are harder to digest. I can tolerate protein bars much better than protein shakes so I opt for those. I have 2-3 a day with 20 grams of protein each and then eat sensibly the rest of the day. I drink 60 oz of water a day, and walk 1 1/2 miles to 2 miles a day. This is not hard...it's common sense. Like the other sleever said. RELAX... if your not hurting or vomiting your doing it right !!!!!!! My Doctor also said (after my direct question) the part of your stomach that is taken away is the part that stretches, the thicker harder muscle part is what is left. And it is very hard to stretch it. He said it will only stretch about 2 extra oz's. and that's it. But as Dee Dee said, if you constantly over eat, it will make that small stretch, an it will not help you at all. So don't do it!!!! It's that simple. But from what I've read your all doing great....just keep up the good work, and do the BIG THREE ( PROTEIN, WATER, WALK) and you'll be fine. I'm not a veterian yet, but I'm getting there slowly.

    December Sleevers

Hey Marci, I know I've said this before, but....Please be careful about what you eat now. I ate what ever I wanted for about a week, and too much of it. It sabotaged my surgery BIG TIME. My surgery was canceled due to my extremely high blood pressure from all the food I was eating. I had to get on BP meds, and monitor it for a month before I was able to reschedule my surgery. It was SOOO frustrating knowing I did it to myself. Please be careful!!!!
  3. Girl...you are just TOO sweet. I can't wait for Wonderland ! I'd love to celebrate with you !!! :w00t:
  4. Hey guys, I just went back for my first post op visit to my Dr. and to my suprize I'd lost 19 lbs, and now that number is 23 lbs. I'm finally moving along and doing well. I'm back at work, things are good there, although I do have a cold. I feel good, and I'm getting plenty of protein and liquids. Exercise have been difficult because of the cold rainy weather. But I'll soon be back on the walking path. I'm having protein bars, and found some orgainic yogurt with 15 gms of portein also. I've not bought any clothes yet. I"m waiting for more weight to come off before I do. Only 12 more lbs and I'll be in WONDERLAND.....OMG...that's unbelievable to me... I've not been under 200 lbs in 20 years. The sleeve is the BOMB!!!:scared0:
  5. Thanks everybody....I feel so good....So glad to be back at work...and getting even more exercise. YAHOOOOOOOOO!!!! I had a great new years too !!

    December Sleevers

PLEASE be careful with your last suppers. I did that very thing and ended up causing my surgery to be canceled because my Blood Pressure shot up sky high due to all the fatty foods. I had to weight an additional month before I could have my surgery. I had to get on meds, and monitor my BP for a month before they would reschedule. PLEASE be careful.
  9. Hey there...well the scale has finally started moving. I couldn't seem to get passed 221. I was back and fourth between 221 and 225 for nearly two weeks. I've finally gotten below that, at 220...thank GOD ! My eating habits have gotten much better. In fact lately I'm not eating enough. I've finally adjusted to small amounts and not experimenting so much. I struggle to get enough protein in because I'm watching carbs, and calories. However I've found some things that have a good bit of protein. Hormel turkey chili w/beans is 210 calories and 16 protein. I eat a can about every other day. I eating baby food meat sticks too. They are only 110 calories and 10 grams protein. Things are getting better all the time. I can't seem to get enough fish in my diet, but I do like shrimp. I'm still having pudding, and protein drinks, and drinking plenty water & crystal light. I'm walking a mile and a half a day also. I'm not as frustrated as I was, just trying to be patient and let things happen on there own. I'm still hoping for another 5 lbs gone before the month is over. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and happy new year!!!

    the scale is finally moving

The 2nd week was the worst for me, I hated all the things I HAD to eat, I was so not satified with any of it. So that is what cause my experimentation. Plus I am a compulsive eater, addicted to food as most of us are. After a LIFETIME of eating anything and everything, changing that all in one week was extreamly difficult for me. So I would try tiny amounts of things that satisfied me. For me it worked, but it did cause an early stall which for me lasted two weeks. That really SUCKED!!! I am now used to what I have to do, and it's not so hard anymore. The good thing about the sleeve is you can't over eat. I can only get a 1/2 cup down at a time and it has to be moist and loose. That is why Chili works perfectly for me, it's mild, has Beans and meat which are great Protein sources plus you can ad a bit of shredded cheddar to add even more protein. If you keep your portions to 1/2 cup a a time, you should never over stuff yourself. That is what I do. The baby food meat sticks are good too, and refried beans. And any baby food in which you can tolorate the taste is good. I like the apple, pear, and peach sauces. I have tried those little cans of chicken like one of the ladies suggested, they work good. Some things just don't work even if I puree them. Like pulled pork, it hurt even just 2 bits, so that's out. Same with pot roast. I stick to what goes down the easiest. At the first sign of fullness or even a tiny bit of pain STOP. Wait 30 minutes to an hour, and then finish as you can. Don't push yourself at all. My favorite thing is SF chocolate pudding with a teaspoon of light cool whip in it, all mixed up. Very satifiying desert. I still crave salty crunchy, but I've been able to pass on the urges. Patience is something I've HAD to learn. Your doing great ! Keep up the good work, since we are so close together on surgery dates, we should run exactly the same if not close. I was Dec. 1st and you were Dec. 2nd. Merry Christmas !

    the scale is finally moving

Thank you Dee Dee, you are very sweet, always have been. I appreciate YOU and all those who have encouraged me and given me the support I needed to get my through these last 2 1/2 weeks. I have been addicted to food my entire life. I have no control over it. That is why I had to move to drastic measures like surgery. I realize I didn't do things exactly as I should have, but not every one here has. Some of you have wonderful control and dedication and I applaud you all. I however am very weak, but learning more every day. Things are turning around for me. BTW you look wonderful!!! GOD bless you.
  15. something else I meant to say, I have always been a compulsive over eater my entire life. Old habits die hard. That is why I had surgery.

I am addicted to food. This has been very hard for me, but I'm making it. thanks again

  16. Hi Chanie, thank you for your sweet message. I probably won't be posting for a while after tonight. I posted the last one before I read the reply from Tracy. She really hurt my feelings. I've never done this before, meaning WLS, I'm not the only cheater on this forum. And there are many hypocondriacs as well. Every one learns from they're mistakes. But that was pretty harsh. I will definatly keep my comments and post to myself from now on. I really don't want to be here anymore. But thank you for your support. I really appreciate it.

  17. Ok, I'm already stalled. I'm 12 days out, and the scale won't move. What do I do? I've only lost 11 lbs on 12 days. And all of that was the first week. 2nd week nothing. I will admit I haven't stuck completely to the post op diet, but I've not wandered that far. Yestrday I ate 1 egg for breakfast, 7 shrimp (sauted) for lunch, and tuna salad for dinner, along with my juices and shake and pudding across the day. I never eat more than 3 onces of anything. What am I doing wrong? I do water down apple juice (simply apple) half & half. And drink that all day, is that too many calories? Oh yeah and I did, eat a tiny bit of party food Friday night. Cheese, egg nog, grapes, cheese dip and 2 tiny squares of cheese cake, about an hour apart. I'm at a loss of what to do. And advice?

    Total frustration

I am 18 days out now, NOT 12, that was my first posted of my stall. It's lasted from the 6th until the now at 18 days out. that's 12 days stalled. And I don't eat this food all at once, like you I eat a couple bites at a time until it's gone, NOT all at once. Some things go down really good, somethings don't. I've stoped the doritos & pork rhines. I just had a little bit of crushed ones because I MISS flavor. Banana's & Peanut Butter go down well but a few bites at a time. Same with everything else. Hormel Chili w/beans is one of my favorites, and refried Beans. pudding goes down well, and eggs, meats gives me problems, so I've cut back on that also. Today I had, 1 scrambled egg w/catchup on it, yummy. I had chili for lunch 1/2 cup. I tried some pulled pork for dinner, bad idea, it sat like a rock, won't do that again ! I had a protein drink a while ago. I've not had much else other than that, but have drank lots of crystal light. I appreciate you being "stir" you guys are the veterians, I am flying by the seat of my pants. I value all opinions ! And don't take them personal. We all need help at times, we all need a good chewing out occationally. I love and respect all of you, your guys keep me going..THANK YOU!!!!

    Total frustration

Hey Tiff Well, lets see....I try to have Protein first thing in the morning. Either with a couple slices of ham with cheese rolled in it, egg beaters, or a Protein Drink like, boost or atkins or ensure. I have had 1/2 cup of refried Beans for lunch, sometimes low sodium chili with beans, or tuna salad. I drink crystal light all day 40 to 60 ozs. I have a SF pudding with light cool whip for a snack, or Dannon light Yogurt. For dinner I have sauteed about 7 shrimp , or venison or chicken then puree them. I have a about 5 doritos occationally, or pork rhines, crushed of course. I've had a banana mashed up with a tbsp of Jiff in it, very good. I have had some chocolates (just one) at a time. I have had a few bites of mashed potatoes a few times, and a couple bites of pumpkin pie once. And I did try some won ton Soup the other night. That's about it.

    Total frustration

Thank you so much for the encouragement and suggestions, I've been really down, but this helps a lot. I'll just keep on doing what I'm doing, and wait for the weight start coming off. It can't stay forever, right? I also did some praying.

    Total frustration

I'm 17 days out now...still no change. I'm still stalled. I've lowered my calorie intake, upped my water intake, walk every single say. I'm watching my carbs. I've gained 3 lbs. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE? I'm so depressed.... Am I dumed to be fat the rest of my life? I don't understand this...What is left to do? :crying:
  25. WOW, that is a Big bougie (booz shae). Mine in 34.... That is probably why you can eat more. BUT if your loosing, sounds like it's perfect for you !!! Congrats !!!!
