    3 Month Surgiversary!

So many congratulations on your weight loss. I, for one, will never have a problem with someone else's food choices. The way I see it, we're doing so much better than we did before, and we can learn to enjoy things we like in moderation. I love this tool! Goals are always changing! Hit your first one and see how you feel. I can't believe you have gotten so far without exercising. Does your knee feel better with the weight you have lost, or is it something that needs surgical fixing?

    Convert

    Thank you, great information!!
  4. Same thing happened to me right at two weeks (is this a thing??) and I just increased my calorie intake a little. Then the weight started to fall off again. Be aware of your measurements, too! Sometimes it's showing up there and not the scale due to water weight and things like that.

    I Can See A Change!

    Wow, so beautiful!
  6. My husband solved the problem of his fears by going with me. He was almost embarrassed at how nice everything was...and that was Tijuana. I'm still glad he went with me for moral support. Is there any way your husband can go with you, or could you travel with a friend or family member. It's just nice to know someone's watching out for you when you aren't feeling your best.

    Any September People

It will get better, believe me. I am 2 weeks post-op today and I just got back from walking to the homecoming parade...1.7 miles round trip. I think within a week, you will be feeling a lot better!! Congratulations.
  8. Don't worry about it, but I was just sleeved at Florence/Oasis of Hope on 9/14 of this year...two weeks ago tomorrow. Are you saying that they told you he doesn't do surgery there? I'm really confused.
  9. I felt the same way! So excited that you had such a great surgery outcome.
  10. I guess I'd have to ask where you got your information? If it's from a coordinator, you need to think about their reasons for telling you this. They only make money if you choose from the doctors they're working with, and they make darn good money. I'm not shooting any messengers, but I also don't believe in dealing with rumors. Unless you've confirmed these rumors with the hospitals where he's supposedly not allowed to practice? I do know that many doctors have preferred hospitals due to price points. There was one hospital where the same surgery would have cost me $10,000. It was amazing, but I was willing to settle for clean and modern facilities. No, I did not have a drain with Dr. Kelly.
  11. I was just sleeved by Kelly on 9/14, and my friend across the hall was done on 9/13 (there were some other sleevers there, too, but I didn't know them). From what they said, September is sort of a slow month for VSG down there. I haven't been talking a lot because my entire surgery and recovery were so textbook and uneventful that it doesn't even seem right to mention! My care was exceptional and my husband was really impressed with the entire process. I have lost 22 lbs. from pre-op diet to today, 12 lbs. from post leak test weigh in to today. I was up and walking around within hours of surgery, had minimal pain. Dr. Kelly visited us at the hotel to check up and Omar took us sightseeing and for several nice dinners (mine were broth, of course). Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

    Scale Success

It is so crazy how ounces can effect our determination to keep working that sleeve. What a great day, congratulations!

    Pedometers

I'm getting the new Fitbit when it comes out in October...preordered from Amazon! I looked at the other ones in that range and they all charge monthly subscription fees to access your data.
  14. I was sleeved 9/14 and have some soreness that I think wouldn't make it fun. I feel bad for my hubby, though. Hopefully next week!!
  15. Feeling great after being sleeved on 9/14 by Dr. Ramos-Kelly in Tijuana!

  16. I can't believe I'm saying this, but that surgery trip has to be one of the most fun things I've ever done. I was so glad to meet you and your mom as well as everyone else. The weather was beautiful, the hotel was beautiful, and it was just trippy to sit around eating our broth afterwards and really enjoying the whole thing. My husband has said that usually if I haven't eaten I get really cranky, but he said I was unbelievably pleasant the whole trip. It still feels like a dream, and I am all for a reunion if I can get the $$ together!!
  17. You are my hero...hoping to get off my blood pressure meds ASAP. Great job!

How Long Did You Wait To.......

Are you kidding? My surgeon made me wait 6 weeks (after hysterectomy)!! I didn't 'quite' make it that far, but that was excruciating. I'm hoping just as soon as I feel better we'll figure something out.

    Confused

I was really (really really) concerned with malabsorption with RNY, so I had to go with the sleeve. I have insurance that will cover the RNY and Lap-band, but I'm paying for the sleeve out of pocket because that's how much I believe in it. I think (correct me if I'm wrong) that there is always the option to get RNY after the sleeve if the sleeve does not complete your weight-loss goals, but there's no going back from RNY to anything. The reason you don't see many sleeves is that up until recently in the US, many insurances wouldn't cover it because they deemed it "experimental". Now that they have been testing for quite a few years, IMO it's going to be the new "gold standard" for WLS. With Medicare now approving it, I believe other insurances will follow suit (including my beloved TriCare). I'm not willing to wait any longer to start my life. I know quite a few people with RNY who have stretched their pouches and gained some or all of their weight back...from what I can tell, the sleeve can't stretch. Sorry to go on and on! Good luck with your choices. I think any procedure to get healthy is worth it!

When your ahem...chest sticks out further than your belly, that's always an awesome day. You look fantastic...I can't wait! Congratulations!

    Any September People

I am being sleeved by Dr. Kelly in TJ. It was supposed to be on 9/15, but now they're thinking they might be able to get me in on the day I fly in, 9/14...fine with me! Good luck to everyone who's heading in and healing thoughts to those who are just coming out of the surgery!
  23. The plain chocolate is my favorite, the chocolate peanut butter isn't as good, but it's not as bad as many other ones I've tried. I do them with a couple of ice cubes and a little milk in the magic bullet. One scoop is definitely enough!
  24. Look at all of that belt! You could have had someone sit on your lap.
