  1. Thanks for the feedback, Vegas. I've only bought the small can of vanilla, and a big can of natural flavor, so that shouldn't be a sweets problem. I can't imagine ever not liking sweets. I think that would be a good problem to have, since sweets are a big part of my problem. :blushing:

    VGS date August 18

Nana, one of my requirements before getting a date was to attend a support group. My surgeon has them once a week. The hair thing came up, and the leader said we probably couldn't avoid it altogether, but reassured people that if they really were vigilant about getting their protein in, they would lose less, and that it WILL grow back. I have to say, though, the sheer trauma of any surgery can cause hair loss. I have had major hair loss now three times in my life. Twice after my two c-sections, and once when I quit BCPs. The doctor said that one was probably due to the removal of the artificial progesterone. It grew back the first two times, and it's finally growing back again, about 5 months after quitting the BCPs.
  3. Every doc is different, but mine only requires 2 days of liquid diet pre-op. My BIL had to do a week (his surgery is this Monday). He has a different surgeon.
  4. That is such an important attitude to have Penny. I finally stopped stressing over how long the insurance approval was taking and gave it up to God's timing, and the very next day the approval came through. (I've been getting lots of those little messages lately.) :thumbup1: Good luck on your surgery!
  5. I don't like the looks of those pleats around the stoma. Looks like a good place for seeds and such to get caught up. I'm thinking along the lines that disease/disorder where people don't tolerate seeds and such because they get caught and fester? Is it diverticulitis? One of my main reasons for choosing the sleeve is that the path the food follows is more or less intact. The openings don't change. Just the size of the storage space.

    My story

Oh. A yooper, eh? I'm down here in the Detroit area. How's the weather up there? Reports have been showing some pretty cool temps.

    My story

Hi Steve. I'm in Michigan, too. Who's your surgeon? I'm having my sleeve on August 11 with Dr. Wood. I just found this site today, after skulking around the lapband sister site for a couple months. Looking forward to getting to know more people here.
  9. That is very exciting! I just got my date on Monday, but it's not as soon as yours. It seems like forever since I first thought about getting surgery back in April, through all the research, appointments, tests, various other hoops to jump through... I finally have a date: August 11. I can totally relate to how excited you are. Congrats!
