Not to be indelicate...but how long after surgery before it's safe to be intimate again? My DH asked the same question!
I jokingly told him 6 weeks (just like after my c-sections)! He was in shock! LOL! I am so mean.

Yay! More 20 somethings! I have noticed that most of the "younger" WLS patients have either bands or gastric bypass. Oh well...
Tiffykins, I'll have to let my DH know what you said as he will be relieved to hear it!

I tried it last night in 16 oz of Water & it was too weak for me. So I tried it again this morning in just 8oz of Water & it was better. Definitely doable for me. It won't be something I crave, but I think I can atleast get it down.
Does anyone know if the nectar caribbean cooler is allowed on clears?

Thanks, MacMadame! Very informative post.

I'll be there from the 6th through the 10th, surgery is on the 7th.

DH and I went to our local Vitamin Shoppe today & they carry nectar. The manager said he would take it back if I didn't like it, so we bought the caribbean cooler flavor. I am keeping my figners crossed!
WasA, thanks for the link. I like saving $$$!

I feel so alone!
How many here do we have in their 30's? I'm close enough, I guess (even though I don't even want to think about it right now!)

Welcome! Congratulations on your date. My initial WLS choice was LapBand...until I continued my research. In 8 days I will be getting my VSG and a new start at life!
-
It makes me feel better to know I'm not the only one! :confused1: I'll definitely have to give the nectar caribbean cooler a try. I also love my Propel strawberry Kiwi waters, so I thought I'd try the Nectar in that flavor as well. I'm so hoping to find something I can live with & not gag every time I think about having to drink it!

my DH will be going with me and he is wanting to know about the cafeteria in the hospital. I'm assuming that is where he will need to go to get his meals & he'd like to know what to expect...what's served, what's the cost? Also, how about the Lucerna hotel? What is available there & what are the prices like?
DH is big on budgeting, so he's putting our "Mexico" budget together right now. :confused1: One more thing, if we use our Visa debit card should we expect extra charges? We don't want to carry any more cash that is necessary.

I'm not crazy about the thick shakes either. That's one reason I was going to try these. :confused1:

I'm hoping I'm not the only one that belongs to this forum! :confused1: I am 28, will be 29 next month...so I guess I just barely made it in the 20's forum. Anyone else ?

What is a good way to set a goal weight? I don't want to set an unrealistic goal, but I don't want to set my goal weight too high either. Anyone have a good way to set a goal?

I guess I'll be the first to post in the 50+ lbs forum. :confused1: I have about 65-70 lbs to lose (I've put on about 5 lbs since getting my VSG date! :sad0:) I know that number would only increase without the VSG, so I am happy to know my surgery date is only a week away!

I spoke with my PCP about having the VSG in Mexico a few months ago. While she wasn't thrilled with the idea, she was supportive. She is going to be the one I see for any follow up care I may need. I told her I would probably see her about 3 months post op for some blood work (to make sure I am getting enough nutrients). She told me to bring in the list of tests needed and how it should be coded for insurance to pay.
I believe most VSG'ers who go to Mexico see their PCP for follow ups. It's not like having the lapband where you would need fills. Good luck!

Thanks for the informative reply. I am prepared for my tastes to change post op, but I know I need to find something to have on hand when I come home. I will not buy bulk qunatities, but just enough for a few weeks.

I am still tyring to find a Protein I like. Does anyone know how much shipping is for samples from Vitalady.com & about how long it takes to receive them? We are leaving in one week for surgery & I'd love to be able to order some full sizes before leaving.
Also, any suggestions on which nectar flavors to try?

This time next week my DH and I will be in Mexicali for pre-op tests. I am a nervous wreck but I am beyond thrilled at the same time. I don't think I've ever felt emotions like this before. I am going to miss my babies so much as I've never been away from them for more than a few hours. I know I'm doing this so I can be a better mommy for them, but I cry every time I think about my babies being so far away from me for 5 days.
To help me get through this week, will you please share a before and after photo? I love looking at them & I really need something positive right now. Also, if you pray please remember me next week.

My surgery is the 6th, I guess I'm a day ahead of you.Cool! Maybe we will get to meet. I'll be arriving on the 6th for the pre-op tests, then surgery on the 7th. I'll be there with my hubby. Are you going to be with anyone?

I don't know. I don't have a sense of smell. My daughter has a nose like a blood hound though, and I told her to stick her nose in the container and give it a wiff. She said it had no smell.
Thanks, I'll have to give it a try then. :lol0:

They ( the passport cards) take longer to get however so apply for it a couple of months ahead. I had a regular passport expedited. It takes about 4 to 6 weeks for a regular passport without expediting. Expediting is expensive but its good if you want to get the surgery done in less than 6 weeks. Right now there seems to be a rush since the new rule went into effect the 1st of June. Alot of Mexicans cant go home to visit the family without one for the whole family.I guess we got ours before the rush...it only took about 3 weeks. I was expecting it to not arrive until right before I had to leave. I was very relieved to not have to wait until the last minute.

Did it have a smell to it? I am very sensitive to smell and while the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury unflavored protein didn't change the taste of the Propel, I couldn't get past the smell.

What are those? I haven't heard of those ... we got ours about 18 months ago for a cruise so we just used them. They are relatively new. They are simply cards (looks like your driver's license) that has a chip in it that has all of your information. They can only be used for land travel. I like it because it's very easy to travel with. Plus, we don't plan on flying out of the country anytime soon, so it saved us some money.
Here's a link to it.
ETA: the chip on the card doesn't hold your personal info, it links to a secure govt database.

I emailed Nina about it when I first heard about it. She said I was eligible for the promo price! I hope to see you in Mexicali next week! Good luck with your surgery & recovery!
