Chronic Headaches? Maybe vitamin related?
Chronic headaches main culprit is not getting in enough fluids. Other than that it could be an unsafe drop in blood pressure, too much salt, not enough salt, Low levels of B-12 or some other nutrients. Or it could even just be the stress your body endures simply having surgery. If it is severe the best thing you can do is run it by your surgeon first. But get that Fluid in! Sip all day if you have to.

the wait is going to kill me...
You don't even look large... but I understand. There's many more reasons WLS should be considered. Hang in there and if you need support, I'm always available. Most of the time simply venting is enough. Goodness knows I've done my fair share over the years!! Irene

Pain in left side
My pain lasted at least a month with my RnY. I don't know how or why being an amputee would have any bearing on how long you're in pain in the abdomen. The reason is just that this is a very major surgery and some of us take longer to heal and feel better than some others. I imagine it won't be much longer for your. That said, if the pain is too excruciating and your surgeon is not doing much to help you, maybe you can refer this problem to your regular Dr. or go into Emergency. Get a 2nd Opinion. Best of luck.

Liquid diet
The one thing that worked the best for me was to come here or on Fb and look through everyone's journey's. Before and After photos especially. It's tough! But you can do it. Hang in there.

First time eating chicken! Whoopsie!
Sometimes we learn the hard way. 6 weeks out is good though. I was eating pureed chicken at 4 weeks out. Chicken was okay, but pork and beef were a no-go. Take care!

Hard lump on left side
I have a tiny hard knot on one of my recent incisions. It's scar tissue, however I would suggest you get that looked at by your Dr. Can never be too cautious.

2 months postop- nagging nausea
That Doesn't sound pleasant at all, have you spoken to your actual surgeon? And not just his nurse?

Does anyone else feel like this is going slower than you thought?
Sometimes we expect way more than what is reality. Take it in stride. You're in this for life.

Did Anyone Have?
Left shoulder pain is very common. It's from the gas they use to inflate your stomach. It goes away after a week or two. Try Gas-X and walk walk walk!

Alcohol question
WLS people should avoid carbonation. Drinking isn't bad per se, but it can slow down your weight loss. Not only that we have to be careful about transfer addictions. Once in awhile wouldn't hurt, but if I were to choose from the two you listed I'd take the margarita. Good luck!

Best Protein powders for a limited budget
One of the unfortunate truths about WLS is that we will spend a lot of money post op on Protein as well as our supplements. I just don't think buying forms of protein that really isn't suited for us to save a few dollars is worth it. MM is a good brand, but better ones, especially for newly op'd folks are specifically made for bariatric patients. Bariatric Advantage, Bariatric fusion, unjury are a few I use without question. Good luck!

“The Biggest Loser:” Irresponsible Weight Loss Surgery Comments?
Well said @Alex Brecher !! Good thing there's those of us who aren't afraid to put ourselves out there and show the world what a good bariatric surgery is. Great article.

I need someone to moderate this group!
If you're interested in taking over this group and moderating it, please let me know... thanks!

Is surgical clearance appointment approval?
Typically a surgeon doesn't schedule a surgery clearance (pre-Op) appointment unless one has been approved. Signs are pointing in that direction. But! Best to get it from the horse's mouth. Give um a call. Good luck!

Need advice
Hi Petey, if I knew then what I know now, I would have waited. Be patient and only make gigantic decisions like that unless you are absolutely 100% positive of all the situations.

Energy Levels 12 Days Post Op
You are lacking a lot of nutrients right now. It's impossible to get everything you need in 450 calories for the day. Be sure you're getting all of your supplements in as required along with doing good with your protein and fluids. Believe it or not, getting up and walking around often helps too. Probably not at the moment it's time for you to get up but after you will have some energy. Sublingual B-12 is super helpful as mentioned above. But not only that, get your multi-vitamins in with minerals, get some electrolytes with your fluids and maybe bump up your protein a bit.

Lactose intolerance
My lactose intolerance lasted at least a year post op. However, after a few months I was able to drink small amounts of Lactaid milk. It's real milk, they just remove the lactose out of it. Good luck!

Pre-Surgery worries
Well now isn't that just awful of him?!? Here's what I think, I think he's using a scare tactic on you to prevent you from going hog wild and doing damage to how far you have come. Ever heard of a "food funeral"? Well that seems to be a thing to do pre-operative. Most think that they will never be able to eat this again, or that. It's a lie! Don't believe that. You will be able to eat everything eventually after you're healed. I'm not saying that he's bluffing though. I believe he absolutely will cancel your surgery if you don't at least come to your surgery day without a loss of some kind. So, take it for what it is. Sounds like he's a good surgeon and he knows pre-op behaviors. Work hard to lose more weight. Keep in mind that you have everything mapped out and you cannot fail.

Protein?'s
Yes it is a good option. I never used it though, I didn't like the taste. But lots do, so don't let my one opinion stop you.
