  1. oOOHHhhh excellent thread idea. I've been obsessed with Netflix for a month now. I'd had a subscription for it for a years and never used it, so I thought I'd try it out for a month and see if it's worth keeping. Oh it is!

I just finished up American Horror Story (thru Season 4 which is on FX On Demand but caught up with Nflix) and with Orange is the New Black. We are watching Breaking Bad right now and on Season 2.

    I need some suggestions y'all!

  2. So far I have had a breast augmentation and I have had some Lipo in several areas of my body. I haven't had any skin removal yet and plan to consult with Dr. Katzen later this summer to do my batwing removals. His work is too amazing... anywayyyy to answer this question...

liposuction is VERY embarrassing. Most don't know what it entails and the recovery is bizarre, and very painful! The first thing they do (besides put you in twilight sleep) is fill your fat pockets with some kind of solution that liquefies your fat. Then they suction it all out... even though I was in twilight sleep I still faintly remember this.

Well that's not the embarrassing part. The worst of it is when you are at home recovering you literally have to wear adult diapers on your wounds because the wounds continue to seep for hours! A lot too... it super gross and like I said bizarre. Would I do it all over again? I don't know. Maybe not. But I don't need to either.

  3. Absolutely that makes a lot of sense. Def don't want any infections. I've had them and they really suck to put it bluntly.. Best wishes to you and your recovery.

Scamp-- as I understand it, the muscles are weakened as a result of the hernias. Dr yesterday reiterated the ban on lifting and on straining (constipation) because it can undo his good work.
Lilmis- apparently replacing the belly button is very difficult as there can be insufficient blood flow which can lead to infection. The way I figure it, I can get a tattoo if I want!

  4. If you feel you're eating too much the best recourse is measuring your food. Space out your eating to 20 minutes. Chew well and make sure you're following your drinking rules which most surgeons will say no fluids until one hour after eating solid food. Protein first, then veggies and a few bites of high Fiber carbohydrates.

It is natural for the sleeve to stretch some. But that doesn't mean we should try to fill it up. Stay within your measured amounts of food per meal.

  5. Greetings. This is not enough calories to survive on in any healthy way or manner. Your body will be forced to feed off of itself, not just your fat but also your muscles (your heart is a muscle) and even your organs and brain. Please seek the advice of (ETA ANOTHER) surgeon as well as A Nutritionist regarding this matter right away.

    Thank you.

Hi all , happy new year 2015 , I'm new to this forum , I would like to know have anyone eaten below 300 calories for a year after gastric sleeve, what was ur starting weight and previously current weight at the end of the first year, , how much u lost , did u felt hungry. How much of ur stomach was removed and what was ur bougie size. How much of ur excess weight do u lost. By the way I will be under the supervision of medical doctors, so please no negative comments. Comment should only be based on the topic, thanks in advance.

  6. Wow that is a lot of weight pre-op. I wish I had some miracle response but I don't. This is called "white knuckling" it. Yours is lasting a lot longer than others are. Mine were only a week at a time.

You might need to find a hobby to occupy your mind for the next few months. What do you like to do? Is there something you have been thinking about starting up?

As far as if you could do this on your own why do you need surgery, well losing weight and keeping it off post op is easier than if you never had surgery. It's never EASY but it is easiER ... The first few months you will see weight literally melt off with minimal effort, however you will still need to stay on track because this will change over time and you won't want to have to get back on track just to keep losing weight.

    Best of luck to you.

  7. I've had the Sleeve and had to revise to the Bypass. Over the years I ended up with extreme GERD from the VSG and had to revise. Of the two I'd say they both work great. If I HAD to pick which one I like the best I pick the Bypass. I don't have as much esophageal pain now and I'm feeling good/normal. I recognize when I am full and I stop eating immediately. Haven't had any post op problems at all except the incision pain was annoying, but it went away.

    Good luck to you!

  8. Your chances of dying of morbid obesity related illnesses is far higher than dying in surgery. All of us are going to die someday. I'd rather die while I'm happy and living the most of my life, not just wishing for it.

That said, this really is your decision. Make sure you are 100% on board and ready for all the changes that accompany this surgery. Best!

  9. Enjoy it all! You DO deserve every bit of happiness in any shape or form.

I post about all kinds of things on this forum knowing that if I'm feeling them, or experiencing them, so are others. So..I don't feel that I can leave out the fact that I've begun dating again. Scary stuff...and especially as I'm right in the middle of body image issues, and this brings up rejection issues, and control issues for me. I feel like I'm walking in a field of landmines. Talk about being vulnerable...sheesh.

So last night, the fella I've been dating for a couple of months is coming to my apartment. My train is late and I get home and text him to find out if he's on his way. Turns out he's already waiting for me and comes up a couple of minutes later. I'm still in my work clothes..which happens to be a very handsome dress in a rust/coral color and he stares at me and says that I look fantastic in that dress and the only thing that would look better is if I was out of that dress..lol.

It's been such a long time since anyone has shown that kind of attention to me. I'm not a kid so no worries about being swept off my feet by a few choice words but it none the less, warmed my heart to know that someone wanted me again. Desired me again. I must be somewhat attractive for an older and somewhat wrinkly old broad.

I feel like I'm on a high today in the office. This was not on my radar. My WLS was to allow me to walk without pain and to get my mobility back. That was the plan. This romance stuff has been a really nice addition to the mix. Yes, I know putting myself out there is risky but right now I'm enjoying it and I hope to keep on enjoying it. If it's vanity, well so be it. I think I deserve a little vanity after all I've been through. I'm so happy to know that I don't have any surgeries coming up in 2015. That sentence alone tells you some of what I've been through.

So friends...back to my conference call. Break's over. Have a great rest of the day everyone!
