    I've been feeling so alone.

Su, no worries! I'm 13 months post op, and I have to tell you - it wasn't until my last fill that I believe I finally got to that sweet spot. That's right! It took me over a year!! I'm thinking I'm at 6cc/10cc. I don't for absolute sure, because my doctor won't tell me. He says that's not what is important. What IS important is that your personal spot is reached in due time. I've heard so many bad stories of people being TOO tight. Just take your time with it. The band surely wasn't intended to be a quick fix. BTW: It took me 8 fills to get to where I am. I only lost 40 Lbs since surgery all year. This year will be different for me, I know it. Smile, it will happen. ...and

Do I have restriction or not?

I think some people who have been eating so much their whole lives have a really skewed sense of being full vs. being satisfied. The band rules have a chart. Mine is from one to ten. One being VERY hungry, and ten being VERY full. My dietician suggested that when I get to about a 6 is when I should stop eating. What I'm saying is, one should stop eating just before you start getting the "I'm full!" feeling. Me personally don't get that physical "I'm full!" feeling anymore. It more hurts than having a bloated feeling. (Not to be confused with the "I'm Stuck" feeling even). If the portions you are eating are satisfying you until your next meal, then I say that is how much you should be eating. As a bandster we shouldn't eat until we are "full" anymore. We eat until we are "satisfied". HTH

  14. I love Cereal! Some are good some are evil. I guess when it comes to eternal life it's stuck somewhere in the middle. I'm not talking about hot cereals or oatmeal. I'm talking about Corn Flakes, Cheerios, etc. These things can be hit or miss I'm finding. But if you pick out the good ones, you can get satiety for hours and get some good wholesome grains, Fiber and Protein from the milk. Calories really aren't that bad either for the hours and protein you get in exchange. But... there are some cereals out there that taste great and tout low calories and health and whatnot. The problem is these same cereals will have me ravenous only barely an hour later! Not good so... I have a little list going in my head here. First for the goods: I have Shredded Wheat. Yum! I love the flavors, and yes I do eat the frosted. So what? It tastes good. I guess I could just buy plain and put splenda, but I like the crunch of the frost. It cures that sweet tooth of mine too. Whatever, but it does last in my belly a good while. Sticks to the ribs if you will. Next I noticed that Cheerios does a good job with lasting too. However not as long as SW, but good enough for an honorable mention. I prefer their flavored varieties rather than the plain, but plain rocks too. Raisin Bran or Raisin Bran Crunch. Of course the plain is much better for you than the RBC. The Crunch is loaded with Sugar and more calories than probably what we should be eating for a small bowl of Cereal. I do avoid this cereal but sometimes its a good burst of flavor when looking for something sweet. Sure beats ice-cream! Anyway for my good list that's all I have for now. I need to venture out! Bad list: Any Special K. Low in Calories? Yes. Lots of Vitamins and things our body needs? Yes. Healty option? Yes. Satiety? Yeah, well that gets a big fat resounding NO!! I'm hungry and hour after eating a bowl. The bad thing is they make some great flavors! Even the plain to me has a good flavor. I especially love the Fruit & Yogurt. This one does last a bit longer than an hour but not much more. Kellogg's Corn Flakes. Again, my body burns this like a flame sweeping through the Sierras! I cannot eat because the flavor makes me sick: Anything Kashi. Period. Tried it, hated it. I thought I was eating the cardboard leftover from my last move. Some like it, I don't. End of story. So any ideas on what I can try? I'd love any suggestions! I've found that adding a bowl at least five days out of the week has helped my regularity, and I'd enjoy trying some new flavors.

    I need help!

StLG, OMG! I'm so sorry to hear that. I wonder how that could have happened? Did your doctor happen to mention how that may have come about? And is that an actual slip? It did sound like one, because I've read on here many people's symptoms of one and it sounded really similar. Well, hang tough and let us know how it goes. :w00t:

    Accountability

LOL, okay the nut thing. It must be in the air... is it a year out thing? ...and if food didn't taste good, by golly I think this band thing would have to come out. I almost feel like I can't live without mine. I almost freak with the thought of losing mine. I know I'd gain my weight back, and then some! :w00t: I'm like that with those danged Doritos. I try to go without them for as long as I can, then next thing I know I'm polishing off a bag... *sigh* Yes I've tried the portion control thing with them. Doesn't work. They are by far my trigger food. In a major way. For me one thing I remember to this day is when I was young my Mom made some chicken & dumplings. The smell was making me so ill! Then I was forced to eat them or eat nothing at all. Well I tossed them all night long. So, never again! The smell still gets to me to this day. Needless to say my Mom never forced me to eat them anymore! She had to clean up the mess! ROFL!! In fact, I don't think she's made them since. :tt1: Everything I bolded I just love. My Grandfather used to fork me mouthfuls of cold can spinach when I was super small. I still remember that, and now when I open a can I always have to take that "cold bite". I LOVE IT!! :w00t: Oysters and Mussels. No thanks. Never tried it, never will.

I'm going to make myself accountable here.

TYSM, gonna check it out next time i'm at the store. :w00t: Thanks tap, I have to admit - this was probably the best thing I've done besides being banded for my WL Struggles. Public humiliation and those ever watchful eyes so far are keeping me in check. Oh yeah, I love nuts! Can't have em at home because that is when I tend to want to snack the most. When I'm at work I don't think about snacking unless I feel hunger. So I bring them here and they are a great hunger reliever.

March 12, 2009 Howdy do folks! Well it’s day 2 complete and starting on day 3. I think the tough part starts now. Eating: 5am: Morning Shake w/added fiber, vitamins and daily pills. 7:30am: Breakfast Bowl of Blueberry Special K. New flavor and very good! 10am: Small Banana, then added a ½ bottle of IsoPure. Still hungry. 11:30am: Lunch, Safeway brand called Eating Right. Five-Grain Beef & Veggies. 1:30pm: Snack, FF yogurt w/Special K crunches added in. (Got hungry early…) 5pm: El Pollo Loco chicken, with few bites of beans, tortilla and some veggies. 6:45pm: Smart Ones single serving, Key lime Pie. It rocks! Moods/Thoughts: I got hungry quick after lunch. I’m thinking it might be a good idea to add a little something extra to that to fill me up more. Now that I’ve bumped up my exercise my body is burning of that fuel faster. I’m not really concerned; I just have to make sure I’m giving my body what it wants. When I’m hungry my body wants more food. I just need to make sure its good quality and what my body needs to survive. Nothing wrong with that! I know for a fact I’m more than sufficiently tight. I have to eat very slowly and make sure I’m chewing my food really well. I think I also need to fill up on more solid proteins. After dinner I was much satisfied with my meal. Anyway, I never want to get *too* tight. Even after 13 months of being banded I still struggle with the eating in a bandster way. I’m getting good at it though. So, today for a midmorning snack I brought along Almonds. A handful is usually enough to get me through a few hours until lunch, and its full of good fats, fiber and protein. As long as I don’t over-do these little gifts of nature they are a very good alternative to liquids which the band has no control over and for the same amount of calories. I also have to remember little tricks I’ve picked up over the years on curbing hunger. I can drink a SF cocoa, or black coffee. That usually will kill my hunger for a good 1.5 hours. Chewing gum also helps me to curb my hunger for awhile. *Please* keep in mind that if you’re reading this and your doctor advised you against chewing gum – DON’T! My doctor never advised against it, and I’m not in the business of swallowing it so I’m okay. LOL!! I was only able to do 1.25 mile walk. I was sidetracked for a few minutes and my time ran too short to do two laps around the mile track. I’ll plan to do that for today. Starting last night and all the way up until this morning I had a headache. Drinking my coffee this morning helped to alleviate it, which I may need more coffee later in the day too. I think I’m coming down off my sugar and it’s starting to affect me. I was expecting this and I’ll just have to deal. It’s working though because I’m obviously losing that water retention. I don’t expect big numbers as far as my weight. Numbers like that won’t last too long – although it would be nice! LOL!! Exercise: 12N: 1.25 mile walk. 6pm: 30 minutes Calisthenics (Arms & Legs) Daily Weigh In: 251.6. -1.4 from yesterday and -3.7 running.
