    The Slow Losers Thread

Hi SA, do you mind me asking what your starting weight was? I'm 7 weeks out too and have lost 14 lb (weigh again on Monday) and I started at 230lb.

New Forum Is (Not) So Sad!

Having read through this thread, it seems the changes were made from the premise of making the sites easier to manage and update for the site owners and not from the premise of making a better experience for the user. It's such a shame that the glitches and changes have obviously put some people off. There are so many less new threads these days - Alex, I'm sorry but it's a shadow of what you/we had before! Brings to mind the old saying "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

    OMG October 2013 Post-ops

Sounds delicious. Do you have room for one more at the table?

    OMG October 2013 Post-ops

Won't you be able to eat the things you cook with them Molly?
  6. Ok, so I'm 6 weeks out and one or two things have made me feel a bit queasy such as milk, Cereal (even with almond & lactose-free milk). Eating too much is a learning curve too as that makes me feel horrible. But I hadn't felt dumping until tonight and yuk it was horrible. I went out for a Chinese with my family, I obviously ate heaps less than I would have done before the RNY but I did have those couple of extra mouthfuls after I knew I was full. Well, well, well ... queasy, shaky, heart racing, clammy and just plain blah! I guess I do 'dump' after all. No diarrhoea thank goodness but to be honest, my bowels don't move much anyway so I can't imagine anything less than a tummy bug would cause that with me (TMI, sorry) :-)

    First Dumping

Does anyone else have a nasty taste in their mouth when this is happening?

    Junk Food

I came to the conclusion last year that food is how my mum shows care. It's not love, because she can show that in many ways but she doesn't know how to care for me or my sister in any other way than to feed us (or encourage us to feed ourselves). I found this out when I was on a VLCD last year. She was thrown on how to show that she cared. Then I had the RNY 6 weeks ago and again, she's a little lost. I don't think you need a head-on discussion if you feel that you might hurt her feelings. You're an adult now and you can say no to the food that she brings into the house. Just becuase you see it and it's there, doesn't mean you have to eat it. 'None for me thanks' is all you need to say. It might hurt her feelings a little that you're rejecting the food she's bought you but at least it's a way of letting her know without a full on confrontation. Good luck, however you handle it :-)

    First Dumping

Thank you! It was horrible. This morning I tried cereal again and my poor pouch gurgled and grumbled all day - so I threw what was left in the bin. I think it's safe to say I'll be keeping my distance from chinese food in future too :-) It really was a horrible feeling and lasted about an hour. Once it wore off, all I wanted was a nice cup of tea, lol.

    The Slow Losers Thread

My next weigh in will be on Monday 2nd December and I'm hoping for a 2lb loss as that'll be two weeks since I last weighed. I feel that I'll know a bit more what I'm dealing with after that. If it's not 2lb, I'm going to worry that it isn't going to work :-/

That's great Rach. Some days I believe the weight loss will come. At other moments, like now, I lose faith a little :-(
  12. Hi all. I've stated a new thread for us in the 'post-op' forum called 'The slow losers thread' :-)

    The Slow Losers Thread

What do your team say? I'm only six weeks out but so far the only thing my pouch doesn't like is milk and I seem to have very little restriction. I told them this on Monday and they said it was normal and not to worry :-/
  14. Ok, I've started it. It's in the Post-Op Forum and called The Slow Losers Thread :-) Please add what you can. Lx
  15. Maybe we slow losers should start our own thread so we can keep encouraging each other and other people who are worried they're not losing as fast as others can see it easily and be reassured they're not alone :-)

    Pissed Off Husband

I hope the surgery goes well. Maybe once you're all recovered, it's time for a new husband Lol, just kidding.
  17. I keep hearing about what a wonder drug Aspirin is in avoiding heart attack, stroke, some cancers if taken in small doses every day. I also know that Aspirin can damage the stomach lining. Does anyone know if us post-bypassers are ok with Aspirin?
  18. I'm so glad this has happened to someone else. What do they know that we don't, lol. My team are so unconcerned about the fact I'm losing weight so slowly, it feels reassuring but weird. How do they know I won't be the only person in the world who doesn't lose weight after bypass lol
  19. I started at 230lb. Surgery on 10/10 and losing a pound a week :-) We'll get there, maybe just a bit slower than others :-)
  20. I read so often about people getting ulcers after surgery. Is there anything, apart from avoiding anti inflammatory drugs, that we can do to keep ulcers away?

    October 2013 Bypass

Hey Mommashari. I'm still here. My surgery was on 10/10. I mostly post in the 'post-op' forum now. Are you doing ok?

    How To Avoid Ulcers?

I take 20mg of Omeprazole every day anyway so I'm hoping that has a positive effect where avoiding ulcers is concerned.

    OMG October 2013 Post-ops

Lol Chelle. I'm not going to tell you that you need an attitude adjustment. I think over time your head and your pouch will make friends or at least learn to live with each other. And you'll be slim and have a new lease of life and blah blah blah. You know all this already. So in the meantime, it's ok to come on here and just vent! It's part of what we're here for :-)
  24. Hi Molly. Pleased to hear you're doing well. I was pretty wiped out early after surgery too. Up until about a week ago, I was still napping in the afternoon for a couple of hours. Look after yourself :-)
  25. I had my op on 10/10 and had lost 9lb by Monday 21st October. It's been almost 4 weeks since then and I'm getting weighed tomorrow. I don't feel I've lost much, if anything. But I guess I'll find out :-) Even if I'm losing just a pound a week, I'll be happy. I'm eating well and although I'm tracking my calories to around 1200 a day, I'm not feeling deprived or that I'm on a diet. So, I can live this way forever rather than feeling its a diet with an end-date. If that means the weight loss is slow, I'll go with that (as long as I'm losing something).
