    Out On The Table

It shouldn't as long as everyone can be civil and realize that this is meant to be helpful and not hurtful. So many people are gun shy now about posting stuff though. We shall see.

    Dear Man's Room

You may not be single anymore but there's always room for a Brother Husband!!! I'm still curious though what "details" you were referring to. I may need some elaboration!

    Any other September 2013 bandsters?

Georgia feeling overly full with the band is not necessarily a feeling you should feel. How you used to feel full is not how you will feel full post banding. How much volume are you eating? Too much maybe? I'm still struggling with finding just the right volume and what sucks is it will change with every fill or even with climate changes. Just got to get to that sweet spot

Shame shame Debbie! Why in such a hurry? Enjoy your food instead of just trying to shovel groceries down your neck. However, we all fall victim to that at times. It's a learning curve for sure.

Georgia was the bread toasted? That's the only eat most can eat bread. If it wasnt, are you sure you're miserable full and not miserable from being semi stuck? Have you been drinking ok?? When I eat certain foods die to trying to test them out, I often feel miserable just because that food os slow to pass. I understand what you're saying about the day to day changes though. It's rough sometimes to be fighting this fight. I try and look at the rough days in a more positive way thinking that it can't be rough all the time. Things will always get better.

Do These Pants Make My Ass Look Big?

Ladies, losing weight is just not fair on your side of things. I mean, as you lose, your ass gets flat, things tend to sag more and the girls get smaller. Men on the other hand tend to tighten up and start showing off a "bigger stature" then they did before. It's just not right ladies, its just not right:) Oh and if my wife ask me if her ass looks big, I just kiss her passionately, say yes, then run!

    Curious

I guess I'll be the first banded to join in. This is from one of my previous postings but still stands true. My WLS journey started in a manner that was not to lose weight. For 20 years I have had terrible acid reflux. So much so that for the last few years I've been on 2 Prilosec a day just to keep it in control. The aftermath of reflux was terrible. I would get headaches, stomach pains, few trips to the emergency room when my stomach would try and dump the acid and frequent diarrhea from too much acid in my system. I would try and diet but the less I ate, my stomach would turn that over very quickly and leave me with uncontrollable reflux which would make me eat more to try and keep my stomach busy. After working with my doc for several years to try and find food allergies, diets and pills, I went in one day wanting his blessing for Nissen Fundoplication surgery. For those who don't know it's a procedure where they wrap the stomach around the esophagus in an effort to tighten the esophagus opening and reinforce its closing function. It was at this point that he advised me to research the band because it was essentially the same type of concept but would also help me drop the 100+ I needed to lose. I trust my doc with my life and was interested in the process. He also informed me that I would end up having surgery one way or the other. Either to try and repair my eroding insides or repair stomach/esophagus cancer. I honestly only did moderate research in the beginning because I was mainly trusting in him that he knew what was best for my situation. I scheduled my pre op required appointments and started my band journey. As I grew closer to surgery I began to dig deeper into the other surgeries. I kept coming back to the thought that the band would help me the most with my reflux and weight loss was just going to be a bonus. I am happy to report that since my surgery I have been reflux free and dieting for the first time in my life has become easy and enjoyable. I am not sure of cases where the other surgeries do or don't help with reflux but from my point of view the band just made the most sense to help me, help me. Plenty of people tried to sell me on the sleeve. It's a very successful procedure and has changed many people lives for the better. I just felt like with the sleeve I would be lazy and train myself to eat around it. I didnt want to go backwards while trying to move forward. I know it can be done with the band as well, but with the band, if I ever feel myself slipping, I can get a fill to help bring things back into place for me. I just felt like having a tool was better for me than having a procedure. I honestly sometimes wish that I had the sleeve because I don't like my band reminding me when I screw up and make a bad choice. Then again, that's exactly what I got it for. The band is work but I enjoy knowing that I'm working it to better me, my health, my family and to make better memories with my kids so that they don't look back one day and are able to say that I never did anything with them because I was fat and lazy.

    For you AJ

Bandista, Guy got upset when he felt some privacy issues were breached and tried to get Alex to delete his profile. Alex did not do it obviously so Guy changed his name to "cannot delete profile" as to try and prove a point I think. In other words, Guy is gone. Sure wish he wasnt.

Oh come on now, is this really a problem?!?!? My wife told me the other day she feels like she's cheating on me cause when the lights are out (yaaaa me) I feel like a different man. I guess that's a compliment??? Just trying to figure out which man she was referring to!!! Your husband is not a weirdo, he's just scoping out his new playground :-)

    Health of the Band

Jim I think you have a valid question. With as much as you've lost, I would want to make sure everything was ok. My doc actually will sign off on getting a yearly Upper GI if I request one just to make sure things look good and are working right. You may want to request one for some peace of mind. I know I will be doing mine because worry brings insecurity which can lead to failures. I don't want any failures! I want to be confident in my health and the health of my band. I am very familiar with the if it ain't broke don't fix it mentality. Just because it ain't broke doesn't mean I don't take care of it with regular maintenance though. If you want to talk about wise old sayings here's one, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure"

    Pissed Off Husband

Did you even have his support when you had the first surgery? If so, there is obviously a deeply rooted problem and he just doesn't know how to express his feelings or concerns. Men are pretty good at hiding that stuff and when it does come out it often comes out as anger first. If you didn't have his support in the beginning, well then, its time to focus on you, lose the weight, strut your sexy ass in front of him and show him what he'll be missing for not being supportive!!!

No more lap bands in my area?

Sharpie, bariatricpal may be no pal to you but what about your other pals that love and appreciate reading your post? I think we all need to continue to give this place our patience, agree to coexist and have faith that the segregation that Alex promises will happen. I for one like having the openness of the forums but I know most don't. I do not like however the bullying and will not tolerate it. That's where we should just report the bullying and move on. We have a choice to only get involved in the threads we want to. I think if you join a thread and don't like it, change your postings to read something like "edited to remove my content", unsubscribe yourself and then move on. I hope everyone will choose to stay and find ways to work with our new tool that has been provided for us. I know that without it, I would not be as strong in my efforts as I am.

No more lap bands in my area?

This makes sense. I appreciate the response. I had always wondered if it was fact or myth because I had always heard regardless of healthy you did it, it was still unsafe to lose rapidly. Basically always heard something to the extent of "you didn't gain it overnight, don't lose it overnight." The only other part to my question is this, if you lose so much so quickly, does your skin have time to catch up? Is such rapid weight loss what contributes to having loose skin or is that attributed to just losing in general? If slow and steady wins the weight loss race, can you prevent having the need or desire for future cosmetic surgery or does it even matter?
