    Psych eval done..woohoo

Well, i would call.and tell their office how far you are and see if ins will have anything closer. I had to travel about 45 min (no traffic) one way to my psych eval. If i had to travel 2 hours i would have. Its worth it.

My surgeon coordinated with my ins to set a psych eval up.

    Paranoid

Havent had surgery yet, but that was a concern of mine too.. The surgeon said not to stress it... Even if it stretches some, it wont ever be where it was before. And the majority that do stretch, its minimal anyway.
  5. Haha that would be my luck.

    Just getting started...

Thats why ive told very few people of my plans.. Too many judgemental jerks.. Obviously if i could just eat right and exercise and the weight came off...I WOULD DO THAT! They usually dont understand because theyve never been in our shoes. Just stay positive and keep your eye on the prize. A new, healthier you. Youre doing this for your health and nobody elses.

    Psych appointment help

Oh!! He also wanted to see you arent an emotional eater, that you have a positive outlook on life, etc.. He wanted to be sure surgery was for health reasons not just vanity reasons.

    Psych appointment help

I just did my psych eval this past saturday. Super easy! My questionnaire was maybe less than 100 questions.. Then we did a verbal meeting. For me the questionnaire was done quickly and then the meeting was about 30 min. Im sure if your psych wants to go more in debth with everything it could take longer. The majority of my answers were "no" so we just breased right through.. The questions were depression, anxiety, ocd, eating disorder, etc related. Be honest, dont over think or stress.. If you start over thinking your responses they may pick up on that and think youre trying to hide something.

    To Skinny?

Thats what I asked my dr... How does your body regulate and say this is a normal weight?? He said he only saw 1 person who lost a little too much (he thinks she intentionally made herself vomit thinking she was too fat)..
  11. Hi everyone!! So, my biggest delima right now is what proceedure to choose...The sleeve or the bypass? Sorry, this may be long..but here is where the issues come from. My PCP is a former sleeve patient & swears by it. My surgeon will do either proceedure. However, he has concerns about the long term effects from the sleeve. He says it hasnt been out that long (vs the bypass), thus doesnt know the long term effects & results (10+ years, lifetime, etc). He used the example that the lapband had great success rates in the early stages (such as where the sleeve is at), but after about 7-8 years there were a lot of failures & revisions needed. I need to lose at least 90-100lbs. I am worried that the bypass may make me lose too much weight. How does your body regulate and say "okay, this is enough weight off.."? My PCP is totally against the bypass and says I need the sleeve... The surgeon says the bypass will give best results, has the best documented succecss rate over time, etc. ::facepalm:: now what? Who do I listen to? Otherwise, I am on month 3 of the 6 month supervised weight loss / diet.. Psych eval scheduled & sleep study scheduled in the next couple of weeks. Nut visit completed... Everything is ready for an approx surgery in Jan - Feb 2015. Help me decide!
  12. Looking to see some results or progress pics from anyone near 5 ft 7. Thanks!
  13. So, I am going to get tested for sleep apnea here in a few weeks. My surgeon asked if I snore, etc.. I have no clue! So I decided to record myself (via a recorder on my phone) during a nap today. I skimmed through it and noticed my breathing pattern was almost spot on from being awake as it was asleep (breathe loudly in sleep). Then the interesting part was there were many breaks in hearing my breathing on the recording. I tried holding my breath (while awake obviously lol) for the same time period that I didnt hear anything.....i couldnt do it. I felt light headed. This happened multiple times during the 90 min period. You could hear me take a breath roughly every 3 seconds at the start.. Then it went to 15 second gaps...then 45 seconds and so on. So needless to say it shall be interesting to see what the sleep study shows. Am i nuts for trying this out??
  14. I want to see how many of you are near the 5 ft 7 height.... Lets see some result or progress pics. Thanks <3

Pre-Op Anxiety and Stress with Aetna

Ive seen other posters that say they gained a few lbs and still approved by aetna.. Maybe if you lose more than you gain you will be okay??? But remember too.... Many have been denied for losing too much weight,, ins sees it as you can do it on your own. My pcp even told me shes seen this happen a lot.
  16. My ins requires pre-auth for the sleep study.. Right now its set for oct 24th. If ins approves it soon we can resechedule for an earlier date.
  17. My last weigh in is dec 23rd.. Ideally my surgery will be in Jan or Feb. Cross your fingers!

    Anyone have United Health Care?

Usually its 6 months supervised by your PCP
  19. Has anyone gained weight from depo while on supervised diet?? I follow a strict nutrition plan, ecercise etc but keep gaining a lb or two a month. The nutritionist and dr both agree its from the depo. Im no longer going to get the depo shot. Im just scared ive gone through everything to get denied because of this.

    AHCCCS (Medicaid) in Arizona?

From what I was told by my surgeons office, AHCCCS will cover the surgeries still. However, there are requirements like any other insurance company. Basically if you do everything they require there is no reason to deny. If they do deny you they have to tell you why. This surgeons office (and im sure others do too) will help you fix whatever got you denied if possible. Here is a list of INS requirements (for at least the accepted insurance plans by this particular surgeons office). http://www.phxbariatric.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Insurance-Authorization-Requirements1.pdf I am on AHCCS and would like to know if there is any update on this subject
  21. So, a quick run down of my story. Any advice would be appreciated! Prior to children I weighed about 140lbs. Seven years, and four kids, later I am now 80lbs over weight. I have gone to the DR for medicine and weight loss plans, tried over the counter medicines, gone to the gym, the HCG diets, and most recently the It Works products. I have spent tons of money and time over the last 4+ years to lose this weight and nothing works! I have cut sodas & sugary drinks out, ate fresh fruits / veggies, no fried / greasy foods, no fast foods, etc. I may lose a lb here or there but nothing substantial or that lasted. A friend suggested looking into the lap band surgery and I decided its whats best for me. My BMI is currently 34.5. Many sites (such as my DRs site and something from FDA) says that the BMI only has to be 35 with being over weight by 50 lbs. I have APIPA insurance (an AHCCCS plan) through Arizona. Does anyone else have this insurance and what kind of hurdles did you have to jump through / around / over to get them to approve it? Thanks!
