How long have you been banded - Poll
I am just over 3 years out and it's the best thing that I have ever done in my life (besides divorcing my cheating husband). I have had no problems until a couple of months ago...had a slight overfill and had problems with reflux. I'm doing great and loving life.

Does the cellulite disapear with weightloss?
It totally depends on your skin type. Unfortunately, I still have my cottage cheese thighs

Betrayal is a BITCH
Well, well, well...tomorrow is the big day in court...9:30 am is my final divorce hearing and I'm soooooooooooo excited. I have planned a divorce party at my house this Saturday...fun times ahead. So....my attorney faxed me the property settlement agreement this morning and it looks great. I get just about everything. He gets some of my retirement but I get his prized possession 1996 Chevy Camaro Z28, 6 speed with t-tops that has sat in the garage and only has 25,000 miles on it, I get use and possession of the house for a year and I get everything in the house...life is good. Wish me luck tomorrow. Oh...BTW...I'm gonna get personalized tags on my "new" car that say...THX2MYX

Today is my 3 year bandiversary...woo hoo
Thanks again everyone. I really appreciate all of your comments. I have been told that I have "fat head" by my plastic surgeon. He asks me how I like my new "sexy" body and I just laugh at him and tell him he's crazy. I still can't believe that I no longer wear a size 22/24...life is crazy but I love it. Bert99...I sent you a pm.

Is this Normal?
Hi there...I guess I would consider myself an experienced lapbander and I gotta tell you...everyone loses at a different rate and if you compare what you lose to someone else, you will drive yourself insane and get discouraged...if you are following the rules and working with the band, you will succeed. I always look at it this way...would you have lost 14 pounds without the band cuz I gotta tell you, before the band the scales were only going up for me...never down. So...don't get discouraged...you will do great! Good luck!

Going on a Cruise.. help!
Hi Ninibaby...I just went on a cruise last month and I'm 3 years post op. Believe it or not I did not gain one ounce (I still can't explain that one). I understand your worry but I gotta tell you...I really didn't have any problem with the foods on the cruise...there are soooo many things to chose from that you can make healthy choices. Also, if you are at a good fill level, you will feel satisfied after just a little bit of food and you will be fine. Since you are going in the winter, you still have a couple of months to go beforehand and you can prepare yourself for it. The cruise that I just went on was my very first one and I was warned before about all of the food. Well, the warning really didn't do much for me but when I got on there and saw all the food, all of the time, I understood what they were talking about. Anyway...just enjoy yourself on your cruise and don't be too hard on yourself. If you do gain a little weight, it's alright...you can take it back off. Try to focus on just having a good time and you'll be fine. Where are you going for your cruise? Have a great time and don't worry about the food...you will handle everything just fine. :w00t:

7.5cc out of 10cc - Bad Reflux at Night - Anyone else experience this??
Yup...you're too tight...same thing happened to me...had to have some removed and they also put me on a prescription for acid reflux...take care of it now before they have to remove all of your Fluid. Good luck.

Acid Reflux
I am three years out from my surgery and this problem just started for me. I haven't had a fill since November 2008 and I went in April and had a small fill. Well, that small fill had me up ALL night long choking on acid reflux. I went back the next day and they removed some of my fill and also put me on a prescription for acid reflux. I still occassionally have the issue and I will probably go back and get a little bit more taken out. It can be very dangerous and lead to removal of the band so please take it seriously and have fluid removed from your band before it's too late and they have to take the entire thing out. My cousin, who has the band, just had all of her fluid removed because of it. So...be careful and good luck to you.

Betrayal is a BITCH
Hey Suzanne...how did the job interview go? I'm in NW on Pennsylvania Avenue...I googled where I am compared to the address you gave and it looks like it's about a mile...are you close to the capital? I'm sure that we could meet somewhere...I LOVE walking so that's not a problem. I see you live in Spotsylvania...my bf lives in King George so I'm over that way quite a bit. We will definitely have to get together at some point. How did I not gain weight on the cruise???? I have NO idea but I'm not arguing. It was a 7 night cruise. We left out of Baltimore. I think that my next trip will be to Vegas...I'm having withdrawls...I haven't been there since March 2008...right before I found out about the cheater. So...my hearing for my divorce is in two weeks from today. I meet with my attorney on Friday to get prepared...I'm getting nervous and excited all at the same time. I just want everything over with but I want everything to be fair and him getting half of my tsp just blows my mind...he's getting on my nerves so bad. In 14 days I will find out who gets what...wish me luck!

Anybody getting or have new BOOBS
Last year (in April) I got a breast lift with augmentation (silicone) and a lower body lift. I borrowed money from my thrift savings plan and I wouldn't trade it for the world. Getting rid of that skin and lifting up my saggy boobs was the end of my weight loss journey. I had lapband 3 years ago and I couldn't be happier. I posted pics about a year ago. I will try to find them and post them here if anyone is interested. Good luck to you...you will love it! BTW...I was ALWAYS against fake boobs but guess what...you can't even tell that mine are "fake"...woo hoo...gotta love a good surgeon.

Betrayal is a BITCH
Thanks browneyedgirl...I appreciate your post. Unfortunately there are hundreds of posts on here that has lots of information on it that I think you may have missed. I was completely unaware of my husbands betrayal when I had my lapband surgery. I did, indeed, have the surgery for me and for my health...it had NOTHING to do with him. He was having the affair during the time that I was having the surgery but I was compltely unaware of it. Also...we did do the counseling thing in an attempt to save the marriage but in the long run, it didn't work. I had no trust or love left for the man who did those horrible things to me. I have lost all respect and feelings for him and at this point he is merely the father of my children. Luckily, he does take care of his children and does spent time with them, as he is suppose to. I found out about the affair in April 2008, went to counseling for approximately one year and eventually asked him to leave, which he did in March 2009. So...this has been a long process and journey. I'm sorry that you had to go through the same things as myself...it is a horrible experience and I feel for you. I have learned through all of this that life does go on and it can actually be better. You see...I was completely miserable in my marriage but didn't want it to end because I was determined to make it...I wasn't going to be a statistic. However, I also wasn't going to be a doormat and wasn't going to be someone who allowed and accepted such inappropriate behavior from a man who vowed to love me, honor me and be faithful to me, none of which he did.

Betrayal is a BITCH
Hello to my LBT peeps. So...I'm an Aunt for the first time. My little nephew was born on May 4, 2010 at 8:17 pm. He weighed 7 lbs. 12.7 oz. and 21 1/2 inches long...he's just perfect. I was sooo blessed to witness his birth. It was the most amazing thing ever. I had 2 c-sections so this was incredibly special for me. Things with the BF are getting a little weird...he's very jealous (not scarey jealous) and I'm not used to it. He fears that someone will take me from him and that after my divorce is final I'm not going to want to be "tied down" and I'll want to go wild. It causes a little undo stress but I'm dealing with it because he truly is an incredible guy. I try to reassure him that I'm not going anywhere and I have no interest in someone else...who would ever have thought that someone would be jealous because of little old me???? Hey Gone 4 Ever...yes, I do FB...send me a PM and give me your name so I can friend you...that would be great...in fact, if anyone on here wants to friend me on FB, send me a PM. Well guys...I would love to hear how you all are doing...the thread had died down...let's get this party started back up...lol

Today is my 3 year bandiversary...woo hoo
Thank you so much everyone. Whenever I am having an "off" day I will look at these posts from you guys. It's been quite a roller coaster ride the past 3 years but I gotta tell you...it was all worth it and I'm a firm believer that "Things happen for a reason"...I never knew that such a happiness was possible and without my band and my weightloss I don't know how I would have gotten through it all but the life that I live now is the best one that I could possibly ask for. I wish everyone the best of luck in their journey with their band. Remember...it's not easy...you will fall off the "band"-wagon more than once...just pick yourself up...dust yourself off and get back on. Life is what you make it and if you work with your band, it will work for you. Thin feels better than food tastes!!! :bored:

Today is my 3 year bandiversary...woo hoo
So...3 years ago today I was under the knife. Today I am sitting at work in my size 8 sundress sipping on some Starbucks and absolutely LOVING life. My life has changed sooooo much in the last 3 years, I could probably write a book about it. In a nutshell...April 30, 2007 had lapband surgery...April 14, 2008 found out my husband was a cheater and having an affair...March 7, 2009 kicked my husband out after a very unsuccessful attempt to save a horrible marraige (at least I tried...lol)...April 14, 2009 (exactly one year after finding out about the cheater) had a lower body lift and breast lift with augmentation...May 26, 2010 divorce hearing. Life is GREAT and I can't imagine where I would be if I didn't have my band...I love life and myself.

Betrayal is a BITCH
Well hello, hello, hello to my LB buddies. I am back from my cruise and back at work  The cruise was absolutely AWESOME...I loved every single minute of it...ate like a cow and drank like a fish...surprisingly I didn't gain 1 single ounce. I'm not sure how that happened but I'm not going to argue about it. So...here's the latest on me...my divorce hearing is May 26 at 9:30 am...but who's counting . The ex is a complete loser and I can't wait to get this divorce finalized. On a personal note, life is great...my bf's daugher celebrates her 16th birthday tomorrow and I'm very excited for her. My kids are doing wonderful in school (both made the honor roll again) and my bf's son is struggling with anger issues because of his wonderful mother but we're all helping him deal with things. On a lapband note...I got a fill about 6 weeks ago...it was super tight and had to go back the next day to get some taken out...since that time I have been dealing with a bit of reflux...I have a prescription for it but sometimes it gets pretty bad. The last night of the cruise I was up all night throwing up because of reflux...I was eating too late and I knew better so I suffered the consequences. However, since I have been back I have not had one problem so I'm feeling pretty good about it. I would like to get off about 15-20 pounds but I'm not going to kill myself doing so. I don't think I'll have too much of a problem since the temperature outside will be getting better, I can jump right back into my exercising. I hope that all of my buddies are doing well...we don't chat like we used to and I miss that . Well...take care everyone...just thought I would give you a little update (if anyone was interested...lol)

urinary incontinence
I see that this thread is a little older but thought that I could share my experience with this. I had a vaginal sling inserted in February 2006 to lift my bladder for this same reason. My bladder fell following the pregnancy of my first son and the second one didn't help much either. My babys were big (9 1/2 lbs. and 10 lbs. 4 oz). So...got the sling and it didn't change a thing...got lap band in 2007 and it didn't help me either. I too had the silicone injection and pills and everything else. I hope that your find something to work for you because I gotta tell you...I know how you feel. I have been wearing pads every single day for the last 10 years and I hate it!!! Good luck to you!

A VERY strange (possibly offensive) question. ***read at your own risk...***
So...I know this is an old thread but I just came up on it and I'm sitting at work laughing out loud. I will keep my comments to myself until my divorce hearing (May 26)...

Can the new pouch created be stretched and allow for over eating?
Hey Gordita, I am almost 3 years out myself and was going through the same thing. I was getting a little depressed because I picked up quite a few pounds during our very "snowy" winter. So...I headed back to the doctor for a fill (my last one was in November 2008). Well...during my doctors visit, they advised me that as time goes on, they are seeing that patients that have had the band 2-3 years have less saline in their bands. They advised that it's not from a leak but probably just little amounts escaping through the port because of it being sticked so many times over the years. Anyway...they said that they are seeing that patients are approximately 1-2 ccs less than what their chart states they should have. So...in saying this, they wanted to compare mine. At my visit in November 2008, my chart stated that I had 12.5ccs in my band...so...they drained it all to see just how much was in there now. Are you ready for this...6ccs. So...I got a fill of 2ccs but it was waaaaaaay too much...I was up all night vomiting from my own spit. So...I went back the following day and had 1cc removed. I have lost 12 pounds in 5 weeks and have great restriction. So...I think it's time for you to go in for a fill...don't get discouraged...that's why we have the band...it's a tool and if we continue to use it correctly we will continue down our road to healthy living. Good luck!
