    6 day post op

Just got cleared for mushies 10 days out. Down 20lbs. Yay!! Good luck, I had salmon tonight
  2. Love the ignorance. Just because I'm an RN does not make me proficient in lap bands, nor do I claim to be. I have taken care of maybe 3 patients with the band. Honestly didn't know anything about it until I met with my surgeon. Just because one is in the medical field does not mean they know everything about everything. I personally don't care about the OR procedure, as I'm not an OR nurse or surgeon. I leave that stuff to those in that field. I prefers more reputable forms of information, than a .com can provide one. Anyone and their brother can come up with .com sites. Hence I don't really listen to any of you're knowledge - you're not proficient, nor a professional. I'm gonna leave that stuff to my surgeon. Hence the suggestions "talk to your surgeon". To be completely honest, I would HOPE the manufacturer of the lap band or any other gastric bands would test their product with saline before packaging them up and shipping them out. I'd actually put money on the fact that they do. I am proud to say I am an ER RN at a very busy and reputable level 1 trauma center in the Chicagoland area, you've prob heard of it. So I am extremely intelligent and educated. I also and open to knowledgeable info and research that my surgeon and the professionals will provide me on this lap band... Thanks
  3. How do people know the bands do not come "pre filled" or "primed". Are you the md handling them? Or the manufacturer? My advice talk to the educated person, you're surgeon. They should be able to help you some more :-) Good luck!
  4. I had the same prob with anesthesia. They gave me Reglan (anti nausea med) and scopolamine patch (behind the ear bandaid) before surgery. They also had some Benadryl ordered for after surgery (helps with nausea, crazy huh). It worked a charm NO vomiting from me. Those scopolamine patches also are good for 3 days, so I left mine on. I also got zofran (pills that dissolve on tongue) for home. Just tell the anesthesiologist, they'll get you situated and comfy. Good luck

How do I kick the soda

Honestly I was addicted to diet coke before surgery, in my 11 days banded, I have not wanted pop/soda at all. Not to mention I can't have it for a while. However my surgeon did say I could have it eventually, it just might add to bloating and burping. Hope this helps .
  6. I wouldn't say inappropriate. I just am not sure they'll give it to you when you're going under anesthesia for surgery. Talk to your md.
  7. Ok being a nurse I must respond. Acid reflux and heartburn are two in the same. Mis you are not ignorant. Heartburn is just the description. The acid reflux causes the "feeling" of heartburn. Anyways, Mis you are not wrong they are the same. Since we are so caught up on "facts" http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/heartburn-gerd/DS00095/DSECTION=causes
  8. I feel it too, however I've had bowel movements sooo I'm thinking its just the swelling to be honest... :-/ ice and heat if that's the case

Too tight? Or is this typical?

Exactly, being medical we are ALL too aware of the stats... We see the negative and that's enough for me. Love the positive success stories...

Too tight? Or is this typical?

I agree. Sorry I get quite heated when one pulls the "race card" As in my original post, the stats are scary. Furthermore outdated. Thank you Mis for posting some newer ones.
  11. What flavors did you get from Isopure?

Too tight? Or is this typical?

Hahahaha facts my butt! Facts need research. You're experience is not research. Funny because all I simply posted on this forum was about the stats posted being terrifying. You're rude and thinks your experience is "bible". Get off your pedestal.

Too tight? Or is this typical?

Ooo sweet sweet nana... I didn't say anyone was unintelligent or stupid. I was just pointing out those statistics are relatively high. When the group was what like 300 people out of how many banded! But yet again you spew your ignorance. You do not know how much research I did or didn't do. You assume because I point out how terrifying a statistic is that I am uneducated. Yet you speak from a very uneducated place majority of the time. As for calling you a wench, well I the shoe fits. The TRUTH hurts, isn't that what you say? Anyways, I am well rounded and informed in what the complications are and are not. I unlike you choose the positive road though. I am not naive about these negative things but when people post on here they are looking for encouragement not people throwing in their faces the high complication rate nor constant negativity. I do realize that at some point I will have to part with my lap band and in fact have come to terms with that. Again I ask for you to refrain from responding to anything I say because I don't need your negativity or ignorance. In addition to that, I don't care what you have to say. I believe we'e all be a lot better if you just keep your mouth shut. I think you just like to "hear yourself talk" so to speak. in this case "read your own words." Start a journal!

Too tight? Or is this typical?

Wow nana you are a wench, thank god I never came to you for advise. I see what many people on here are saying about you. However I am a nurse, an er nurse actually. AND I'm in my masters for my nurse practitioner so sweetheart I don't live in a bubble. I realize there are possible complications to everything related to medicine and surgery. I get this. As most benefits seem to out weigh the risks when we decide to do this. I simply was pointing out that the stats posted are high in complications and to someone who isn't in the medical field or doesn't know anything about stats, they are extremely high stats to complications rates. It's scary for the lay person. I realize you've had your band forever and a day but really get off of your pedestal, no one wants to hear your rude comments. I know people who don't so any of what you preach and have their band safely in them without problems. You all too often jump to "you'll definitely lose your band" to anyone who does something that your opinion disagrees with. Do me a favor and please refrain from commenting on any of my questions or posts because you're ignorant and I don't have time for it. Thanks! Glad I don't know you in life. Have a nice day!
