I was sleeved on Feb 20, 2013 it went really well no problems what so ever. I weighed 294 when I started and on my surgery date weighed 270. I have since lost close to 40 lbs with pre weight 65lbs. I am happy with my sleeve and determined to get to my goal of 175, Right now I am 227 so I have roughly 52 lbs to lose. Wish me luck!

I go glued together, staples on the inside and then the entry wounds were glued shut. no problems so far. I am in love with my sleeve.

I like Body Fortress whey isolate chocolate, its the best I have tried so far. EAS was okay but has a bland chocolate taste that leaves a weird after taste. I also get Protein from Cottage cheese and Yogurt. Next week I can add pureed meats and vegetables, So I can change it up some. This is the easiest thing I have ever did diet wise. The sleeve is absolutely amazing!

I was sleeved on 2/20 and lost 10lbs my first 6 days, since then the last few days I find my self gaining and I was told it may be Water weight or poop problem (which is what I think) so I am just sticking with it. It took years to put it on and it will take eating right and smart to get it off a little at a time. Time is all I have so I will go for it!

I dropped 10lbs in my first 6 days after surgery and the last 3 days I am gaining again up 3 lbs, I've been told it could be Water weight or if you haven't had a bowel movement. I have the bm problem and I hope it gets better!Yeah so do I, I've been seeing the scale drop a couple lbs each time, then this morning it said I gained 1 lb

I had my sleeve surgery on Feb 20th and got out of the hospital the very next day. I haven't had any pain or problems drinking fluids or walking. I am in love with my surgery and my sleeve. My Doctor told me I might not get any help for my diabetes but since the surgery I have only had 2 units of insulin and now its 2 days straight without any meds for diabetes. Post Op I shot 100 units a day with 2 1000mg of Metphormin. Makes my head whirl knowing I am not having to shoot up or take a pill. Amazing grace!

That is wonderful about the insulin! I'm not diabetic, but I am a medical writer/editor, and I have written articles on studies that have found this very phenomenon. It's theorized that some of this effect is based on changed beta cell activity after surgery. It will only get better as you continue to lose weight. What a great thing you are doing for your long-term health, given the increased health risks that come with type 2 diabetes. Congratulations!
I can hardly believe this is happening to me after being a diabetic for 13 years and now it may be gone the thought is mind boggeling!

Well I had my surgery on February 20, 2013. Surgery was a great success, woke up in minimal pain. Used my handy little pump whenever I felt discomfort. Couldn't sleep in the hospital due to being checked on and woken every hour. I was discharged the following day and have tolerated Water and broth quite well. This morning I woke up and made my Protein Shake first thing to get down and started drinking water. Little bit of soreness but hardly worth taking pain medicine for. Took my Multivitamin and B-12, B-1 and antacid the Doctor prescribed. Now I am doing a bit of walking around the house. I love my sleeve and am so thankful I have no complaints! oh and btw, I have not had any insulin since yesterday morning 2 units and that's all. I was taking 100 units of insulin per day 50 in the am and 50 in the pm previous to my surgery. I am praying that this is an end to my diabetes, any one else out there like this?

Don' t mean to sound negative to you all, just pointing out the pro's and con's of having WLS. We will all succeed and be a better person! This is a life style change people! You have to give and take a little to get a lot, all the cost for Vitamins and food costs are worth it if your going to lose weight and become a healthier individual. I for one feel giving up on potato chips, fast food and sweets, while trading them for vitamins, Protein mixes and healthier foods is a much better deal. Remember, you have to break a few eggs to get a little mayonaise!

Well congratulations to all our February Surgeries! I wish you all a wonderful journey to a new you. I am going to try my best to become a healthier individual and a happy Grandmother/Mom. To all of us who are taking the plunge, best of luck all!

I am having the sleeve done on February 20, 2013. The doctor who will be doing it is Dr Khayat who is very nice. I am 2 weeks away from my surgery and can not wait for the day to come. I want so much to lose weight once and for all. Been heavy most of my life, lots of diets and losses but this last gain brought me to 294 and I said thats it. I will not see 300 if I have to cut my stomach off myself, lol. I am down to 275 with 5 lbs away from the 270 Dr. Khayat wanted me to be. But he said with all my progress he will do the surgery anyway. I love South San Francisco Kaiser they have the best people working for them.

I am excited because I go on a cruise in Apr. 2014, to the Caribbean. It would be nice to be a regular size instead of plus size. No bathing suit but cute shorts and tank tops, lol....

All your stories are so inspiring and I am so glad there is this venue to turn to. My surgery has been set for February 20, 2013. My Pre-op Class is 2/12 and I meet with my surgeon on 2/13. I am so excited and sure wish it was sooner. Seeing all the posts on here give me a general idea what to expect. I am worried about (constipation), yeah that problem. I have it so bad now because of all the Vitamins and dieting. Sure hope I get something to counteract this problem. Well I am closing for now, thank all!

Its been a long 6 month wait for this and I thought it would never get here. I am so ready to change my life. I am able to walk 7 miles a day in 1 hour and I couldn't walk for 5 minutes without getting tired. This is the best thing I have ever decided!

I am hoping to have my surgery scheduled by the end of the month. Looking at a February date just hope I get it scheduled sooner than later. Everyone on here is so nice and no condemnation for having the surgery. Haven't told a lot of people just my family so no negative feed back so far. If any friends give me any grief, well they weren't very good friends to begin with, see ya! Any way wish me luck on losing my last 9 lbs! I really need all the luck I can get!

Congratulations you are on the road to success! Blessings for a speedy recovery.

I had hoped to have my surgery scheduled on Jan 8th but through the holidays I gained instead of losing now I am struggling to lose 16lbs. I feel so discouraged and mad at myself. I was 7lbs away from the Doctors goal and I totally blew it. Well back to basics and hit the treadmill for an hour a day. I am really going to try hard to hit this nail on the head once and for all!
-
I was told that surgery would be cancelled if I didn't meet my weight loss point. I am trying the best way I can to get to 270lbs by January 8th. That's the day my surgery will be scheduled. Wish me luck! lol

I am having my gastric sleeve done by a doctor, FAWZI shaker KHAYAT located at the South San Francisco facility. I hope to be scheduled on January 8th!

I pray that I lose the lbs needed to get scheduled for surgery. I am on a mission right now, I have to be ready for the new year and get my life back. Its nice to meet you Gail and keep up your successful road!

Mommydearest74, your right about its going to take a lot of changing and going back to basics. I found out the hardway this week, had some cocktails and ended up gaining 3lbs. I haven't had my surgery yet and have to get to 270lbs by January 8th. That's when they will give me my surgery date. Wish me luck! Everyone here is awesome in their own way, thank you all!
