  1. I didn't eat until about 11:30 this morning and I went with some family to a restaurant in town. I ordered a sirloin tip steak with some potatoes and veggies. Anyway, I'm suffering a bit from allergies and my nose was stuffed, so when I took a bit of a big bite of my steak it was hot and instead of chewing and swallowing bits until it was gone I swallowed most of it in one go. Wasn't really thinking about it till I got terribly stuck. Very painful. So I went to the bathroom and after a minute or two I vomited a bit of steak and some mucus with blood in it. Should I be particularly concerned? I'm not in any pain and I was able to eat afterwards with no problems. Thanks in advance for your response and I apologize for the long post!

  2. Had 4, count em 4 ccs put in my band today! I was so surprised lol. On all liquids for 24hrs of course. Did a barium swallow with the needle sticking out of my belly and things went through fine. Is this a normal amount for a first fill?

  3. I was just banded a week ago and already down 16 from the start of this journey. My problem is that I feel as though I can start eating and drinking like I did before. I know I can't have a fill for weeks. Has this happened to others?

Don't do it. I am on mushies and was stupid enough to eat a SPOONFUL of rice last night. I am three weeks out. I got stuck and it was so painful! I had to spit stuff that popped back up and it made me get a bit lightheaded. Definitely gross and awful.

  4. I'm three days post op, the first day was hell and the doctors were a bit nervous of my reaction after I came to from the anesthesia but I'm feeling okay now. Back to work and everything. Not checking my weight loss until I see the docs next but I'm pretty sure I'm losing weight.

  5. Good luck! I had my surgery on Friday the 13th (lol) and gas pains for me lasted just the one day. I kept walking circles around my kitchen table. However for me the gas pains were INTENSE and VERY painful and I was in a hurry to see them go. Also I had my oh so kind brother rub the area that hurt the most, which was my back, and that may have dispersed it. I was told by my doc not to bother with GasX as the gas is AROUND your organs not inside your stomach, therefore don't bother. But that's just what he said. Good luck and remember that the first initial jolt after being banded will pass and your body will heal!!

  6. So how are you doing today?

Really REALLY sore lol. Apparently I was yelling (loudly) after they woke me up and they had to calm me down. The gas pains are already mostly gone, but I'm sure they'll pop up again tomorrow. I could really use a massage right now! Lol thanks for asking, I'm glad it's been done but right now I feel like crap.

  7. I'm really hoping to lose 60 lbs by May (my trip to England!) and I want to get as low weight as possible as my last trip there was miserable with 11 hour flights and 3 planes each way. What would my 100+ loss weight goal buddies recommend for calories burned? I'm at (not banded till next week) like 290 right now. Thoughts?

  8. Do you know what are "Wrong Foods"??? Some people can eat anything, and have no problems....some foods that are risky for one person, is just fine for the next person... Sometimes it is not the food at all, but the way we eat...too much too fast all at once.... I have had Water, without any food at eaten at all before, come right back up because I didn't think and gulped it down like the old days.....water is not a wrong food....but I was wrong in how I swallowed it... It is a learning experience for everybody....hit and miss with a lot of foods....the trick is, if I get stuck once on a certain food, then next time I eat that food I am very careful...if I get stuck that second time, then it gets on my "Do Not Eat List" it's not impossible, just too risky....

    That makes sense. Thanks!
