Passed my goal of 3 hours exercise per week with 5.15. Entered on spreadsheet.

Really well. I am so glad I went ahead! Thanks to those who shared that they had felt the same. ????

I made my goal of three hours but have flaked the last two days....gotta get out there! Having trouble establishing a routine, but working on it.

Looks great, thank you!

I'm in...goal is 3 hours exercise per week, not sure what to expect on weight since just 5 days post surgery. What's realistic? Current weight 212. Thanks!
If anyone has a Fitbit, consider signing up for their charity contest...most steps logged in support of three charities will award $1 mil total to the charities. Another reason to exercise - yay!

Thank you.

Maybe panic is a better word than jitters. Surgery is Monday, Mexico self pay. I am wondering if I am crazy to proceed. Earlier today I felt completely resolute...now I am waffling all over the place. I'll have to live with this new stomach and all it involves for the next 25 years...this is so scary. I've researched this, am confident with the doc I've selected...so why am I losing my motivation on the brink? Did any of you go through this, and if so, did you regret the surgery later? Thanks for any advice...if having doubts should I cancel?

Maybe the Nectarz Protein Drinks? They are thinner, lighter, and a bit less sweet to me. A lot of people like the peach flavor and the Twisted cherry is pretty good. I add ice cubes after mixing.

Would also like to join Nov sleevers group on FB, but don't understand how!

I am starting to understand that the surgery won't work long term until we figure out why food controls us instead of us controlling our food. What are we feeding or numbing? Such a long process to work through this lifelong behavior - all we can do is get back on the wagon each time we fall off. And be a little bit kinder to ourselves, since the self shaming makes matters so much worse and sometimes fuels more uncontrolled eating. Hang in there!

I'm going on Nov 2
-
My date is the same as yours...since I'm cooking for people who won't know about it, I'll just plead "stomach issues" and push some food around on my plate.
-
I understand that Dr Ortiz will check for and repair any hiatal hernia.

My VSG is scheduled for Nov 2 in Tijuana. As the date approaches I am feeling anxious and my GERD, which has not bothered me for several years, is beginning to act up. I resumed my Protonix and that helps, but some days I'm having to take Zantac, too. I know that VSG can aggravate GERD - am I doing the right thing here? Not going through insurance since I am just above required weight and would be walking a tightrope during the required supervised diet, so don't have anyone to turn to locally with this question. I'm trying not to eat at night, sleeping with extra pillows, etc. Was told years ago that I have a small hiatal hernia but not worth repairing at the time.
Getting really nervous...have to reschedule this week or lose my deposit. Have been on modified Atkins for two weeks, start liquids on the 19th. I am a real wimp about chronic GERD and when it's acting up it changes my outlook - not in a good way.
Would appreciate any advice, thank you!

Munc0911 - while visiting the clinc I met two women who had travelled there alone for surgery the next day. I guess this is not unusual, and the driver brings patients from the San Diego Airport and transports between clinic and Marriott. Hotel offers appropriate foods for surgical patients and is accustomed to their stays.

Mine recommends standard multivitamin pre-op, also Biotin and Probiotics, usual Calcium. Post surgery must take a bariatric Vitamin for first year, along with 1500 mg calcium citrate plus D. Have bought chewable versions from Amazon for the first few months. Also bought a pill crusher for some other meds.

I am 62 yrs, height 5 feet 6, weight 230, BMI just over 35. Have been in low carb diet for ten days, start pre op diet 10/19, surgery 11/2 with Ariel Ortiz in Tijuana. Went for a visit and consult several weeks ago and was satisfied by what I saw and heard. Dr. Ortiz spent 30 minutes with us and also met with nutritionist and internal med physician. Nervous anyway!

Dr. Ariel Ortiz, fly into San Diego, they transport from there. 3 nights hotel and one night clinic are included in package at 6500. Ned's about 200, and cost of getting to San Diego are only add one.

Two years ago when I leave Oakes into this I wouldn't have guessed I'd choose Mexico...researched well...even made the site visit to meet the doctor. He is not the cheapest guy down there.
Make that "when I first looked into this"

I actually went to see the facility and I think it's okay. Might be a little more comfortable if it were more like a U.S. Hospital rather than an outpatient facility with overnight beds. I am less nervous about going than about sharing my choice with other people...my family would go nuts!

Dr Ortiz in TJ on Nov 2! Would appreciate hearing what follow up you Nexico sleepers have set up post surgery!

Nov 2 for me. I am doing a lot of reading, watching Blossom Bariatric's Mind Prep videos (even if you aren't having surgery done there you can get access.) there are a number of videos on You Tube sharing "what I wish I'd known" tips. On a low carb diet, walking more, and start liquids on 10/19. I guess I did my last supper the day I visited Dr Ortiz office about ten days ago. Self pay in Mexico, BMI just over 35, insurance required 90 day supervised diet but would disqualify me if I lost more than a couple of pounds. If I gained, the 90 days would start over. Too much of a tightrope for me.

Ugh, no energy this week. Seems to be improving now that I've progressed to puréed foods. Only got an hour in. PS This 3 months of free HBO, etc, is not helpful! Too much TV time. Onward and upward.
