  1. Wow what a tough situation to be in. the whole reason you want surgery is to lose weight but to be told to lose weight to have the surgery that has got to feel just darn right sinful. However. and you haven't mentioned which one you want and honestly it really doesn't matter as each one of them has rules that you have to follow - you can look at the next ~6mts as a trial run. can you live with a life changing event - do you want this bad enough to do what ever it takes? a lot of people look at surgery as the easy way out very few of them realize how much hard work is required. from the self discipline to behave. from lapband to bypass each of them require you to behave in an entirly new way. all i can suggest is start living life like you have already had the surgery - when your hungry fill up on Water. go for a walk, take up a new hobby but keep those hands busy. this site has been amazing for me thorugh the last year with the support from every one on here. when your feeling down and like you can't do it just come post here. no one will judge they will give you sometimes the cold hard truth i wish you the best of look and hope you find a way to feel positive about yourself and get to where you want to be.

    I've gained 46 pounds in 12 days!

I agree don't wait for the dr to call you back i would be in their waiting room right now. they will be able to fit you in. most likely it is Water retention but wow that is a lot. do your hands and feet feel different? i have a horrible time with water retention if i have too much salt my wight can jump by as much as 5lbs in less than 24hrs but it's never permanent and never more than that. hope you find the answers you need.
  3. pick a topic any topic and you will find horror stories... you can just read through this site and find so many success stories out there. Me i have been banded 10mts. and i wouldn't change a thing. I'm down 64lbs lost slowly - so far i don't have excess skin to worry about. doesn't mean i won't. Do i wish i had lost more by now sure who wouldn't.. am i happy right now HECK yes. Life has changed in more ways than i can count/imagine or even remember. as an earlier poster said find a surgeon do your research and go with your gut. Is this surgery for every one.. simple fact is No. it's not. You still require discipline you still have to pick the right food choice.. if you cheat the band will fail it's that simple. I've had my issues and concerns. but it always comes back to me not following the rules. Just be sure this is what you want and that you want it bad enough to follow the rules most of the time....we're all human
  4. we are awesome... 1657 + 64 = 1721

Hey all how is every one? Just back from vacation what a relief to get out of AZ for a week.. any way.. so the kids went horse back riding while we where gone and i didn't go.. they had a 225 weight limit for the horse and i was well thinking i'm over that so i won't even try... i got home sunday and stood on the scale and what would you know it read 218...lol guess i could have ridden after all. it was such a surprise to see that on the scale as with driving long distances 9plus hrs each way i had been picking at junk.. but in reality i guess i didn't really eat that much as i came home after a week with the same junk food that i put in my car at the start of a 9hr drive :-).. hope every one else is in a happy place today too

    Post plastic surgery weight gain

your body is recovering from major surgery. i imagine there is all kinds of swelling trauma that it is trying to recover from. i had a brest augmentation done a few yrs back while i don't recall what my weight did i do recall the long recovery period. Don't focus too much on what the scale says right now. give it at least 3 weeks min as that is how long i was told before i would even being to fell normal again. just deep breaths eat well and take care of your self

    Still not really losing

the first thing to remember is your not alone in your weight loss journey - while i am down 60lbs now from my pre op weight the last few mts losing more than 2lbs a month has been a challenge. i go down 2 up 3 down 1 up.. you see the pattern. there are days where i could cry from frustration wondering what am i doing wrong why aren't i losing.. etc etc.. however when i take a step back i'm down 60 freaking lbs .. for the most part the scale doesn't go up which it was doing at an alarming rate. if nothing else i'm healthier for this journey. and at this point I've decided that no more messing around i'm going back to the basics.. working out more increasing my Protein intake and just getting back on track. will that make the scale change? i don't know but at least i'll know I've done every thing i can go get this party started. So hang on in there. the journey has only just started and there is no real end. just many twists and turns and bumps.. just focus on the positive you got this.

    Any other September 2013 bandsters?

darn those sweets and how easy it is to still eat them . my sister came to visit and brought yummy chocolate from back home i ate it like a crazy person.. that lead me back to the chips and salsa which is my weakness i don't eat a lot but the salt from the chips really plays havoc with me and Water retention is out of control again. moderation is the key - just need to leave out the salt. ahhh.. i want to see the teens on my scale tired of seeing 22+.. come on 21+..... each time i drop into a new decade i set my self a new goal. 10 more lbs.. this seems to help with motivation in the back of my head i know what the big picture looks like and that ultimately i need the scale to say 18+.. will get there

I can walk to my car with out dying... I can make it through the day with out worrying will i sweat through my clothes.. not looking forward to the rest of the summer but am feeling much more confident i might actually partake in it this year hope every one is doing well and keeping warm/cool

    Any other September 2013 bandsters?

I totally know how you feel this last fill i felt like at first had put me over the top - getting stuck at least once a day it was not fun. Then all of a sudden it has calmed down.. then wham i get a 3lb gain.. i think it's mostly from salt but i've made some bad food choices lately working to get back on track. i've tried the shakes during the day and for some reason just can't do it.. need to find the right mind set and just get at it. happy wed to all

    Any other September 2013 bandsters?

I honestly can't believe it's June again. it was this time last year that i started this journey with my mandatory pre-op weight loss visits..... I never imagined at that time i'd see 224 on the scale again.. finally there... weight loss has really slowed down which i was told it would.. what get's me mad is the unexplained sudden jumps in weight.. this morning after making it to 223.8 on the scale it showed 227.. not a huge gain but still the impact is worse than when i was 270/280 hoping it's just water retention as that really does mess me up as my salt intake over the weekend was insane.. glad to see we are all still doing good. knowing others have the same issues also help.. but still that feeling this is only happening to me... drives me nuts. i need to find my motivation i want to see 199 on the scale by September...

been gone a while sure am glad to see the same great folks are still hanging out doing what they do best.. Weight loss has slowed down for me but it's still going just SOOOOO slowly.. mostly i think it's my own fault still making interesting choices.. Managed 6 days in Israel with a 1lb loss so i'm very happy there.. just got to find my pace again get back on top of things. sister was here visiting.. i'm down 60lbs more or less she didn't see much of a diff.. i guess there's my motivation if i'm going to visit her in the fall i want another 30 gone by then

    Barium swallow

So lately i've been feeling really down the weight is dropping soooooo darn slowly.. that i had to started to worry with all the what if's did i stretch the pouch. is all the Fluid still in there i was driving my self crazy... so today they had me do a barium swallow.. and everything is perfect.. we talk and agreed that we just need to continue to tweak the band until i get the help from it that i need but that they reminded me also that i shouldn't rely on the band 100% otherwise i'd fall in to bad habits waiting for it to make the right food choices.. it's not going to stop me putting rubbish in my mouth.. just the qty. so here's to a reset on my optimism.. i've got this. slow and steady will get me where i want to go

    Any other September 2013 bandsters?

Nope we are not alone in this.. and no it's not a race though gosh darn it it takes so darn long at times i'm at 9.5 in my 14cc band down 50 in total including the pre op diet i am VERY happy with what i lost. but am i happy with who and the way am i am.. nope.. i had thought perhaps at this point iwould have made my goal of a size 16.. nope not even close.. I seem only only lose 3 or if i'm lucky 4 lbs a month. i know i should be happy that i'm losing but at this point i can still eat anything.. i just have to chew and take my time. i've had a few moments where i've been really stuck and am trying to stay away from that feeling. it is so not fun. i'm glad i found this site and knowing i'm not alone does help when those demons come calling. keep up the good work every one... it didn't take 5mts to get where i am so i just got to remember that.. at 4lbs a month even if it takes another year i'll get to where i want eventually.

    First fill, no fill...

Wow i'm sorry that you had to go through that. the office i go to doesn't use fluoroscopy either but they have never had an issue finding the port. even through all the layers of fat you can still feel the port though i'll be honest even though they show me each time i go where it is i still have a hard time. fingers crossed the next visit will be better
  23. intelirish

    first goal reached,

Congrats to you.. i reached my first milestone this morning also I'm exactly 50lbs lighter than i was when i started this journey i'm starting to think i can actually do this. i can't imagine the joy you must feel at being off the meds though.. again Congrats and keep it up ..

    Please don't judge me...

No judging here..i recently had an adjustment that had me visiting the bathroom way too much.. i had to pull my big girl pants and ask the doc about it.. they where able to help me figure it out it was me that i eat too fast and too big a bite that i needed to slow WAY down.. that being said he still checked me out to make sure it wasn't the band. I STRONGLY suggest you visit your doc. i only last 2wks i have no idea how you could manage till now. don't be embarrsed that's what the doc is there for to help you thorugh things like this. Please don't wait until something bad does happen. and let me know your ok?

    Cauliflower recipe question

i think this is like biggirlpanties.. Cauliflower Breadsticks! Hardly any calories for the whole pan! Ingredients: large head of cauliflower 2 cloves garlic, grated or minced 2 large eggs, lightly beaten 4 oz low fat mozzarella cheese 1/2 teaspoon onion powder salt pepper Directions: Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Chop the cauliflower into chunks and place into microwave for about 5 minutes or until soft Place the cauliflower into a food processor and blend until it's a mashed potato texture In a medium bowl, stir together cauliflower, eggs, cheese, and seasonings Lightly spray a baking pan with spray oil and coat with the mixture (about 1/2 inch thick) Bake at 450 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until the top starts to brown Add additional cheese to the top and enjoy!
