  1. Well I had my first follow up since surgery with my surgeon yesterday and it seems I have an infection in my left side...that's why my stomach is all swollen and lopsided...looks like an alien. So, they put me on clindamycin which i have to crush and eat the powder...OMG can you say nasty????????? I called the pharmacy and asked them if they have a liquid form of it and they said yes, course it's for kids so I'll have to take a much bigger dose. But anything is better than swallowing the powder which makes me gag! Anyway, no fever or anything like that so that's good and then I'll see him again next week. Still doing good on liquids, could be a little better, but hey least they're staying down now and absolutely no reflux! btw, as a side note, I lost back down to 145 so that's good too.
  2. Yeah I had to explain it a hundred times or so...they'd never seen one there.. And everyone always says "you're going thru all that for just a little acid reflux?" But no one understands how bad the reflux was or how many times I'd already thrown up that week or been thru getting woke up in the middle of the night choking...so yes it's quite risky and painful, but I wasn't absorbing any nutrients anyway with my sleeve the way it was... But on the funny side...I looked like a 46 year old pregnant woman when I walked myself outta there! So much swelling and all! Lol! And I can't wait for the swelling to go away so my stomach looks normal again...
  3. Ok we'll I'm finally home...slept last night in my own bed which was not all that great considering I'm a side sleeper and there was no way I was getting off my back. The pain of this last surgery has been worse than any/all of the last 7 including the original sleeve put together. I gained a friggin' 15 pounds in Water weight from all the fluids they pumped in me...which is also the reason my stomach looks lopsided right now. They had to use 7 incision sites this time instead of the original 5, and the ones on my left side hurt the worst. Also, I'm starting all over on the liquids stages because he said it was even more important this time to let everything heal. And to top it off I was intubated this time and my throat is causing some serious trouble too...hard to swallow... Anyway thought I'd give you all some insight on what's going on with me now....Btw, no one understood why I was having the bypass at 141 pounds until I explained it a hundred times over...to each nurse....lol!
  4. Update on surgery...I'm staying over one more night in the hospital...no liquids until my tummy starts feeling better.
  5. Oh and I forgot to mention the weight loss...yes I am past my goal but the doc doesn't think I'll lose too much more...I'll just have to consume more...but with the acid reflux gone that'll make me feel better anyway!
  6. Yes Laura they think this surgery will alleviate all my problems so that is good! I'm feeling a little better just some residual pain but nothing I can't tolerate.
  7. Well here's an update...as far as I know (and I haven't seen the doc yet) everything went well! My stomach is just very sore and hurts like hell! They're coming to get me this morning for a sonogram, so I'll let you know how that goes!

    Sleeve TODAY! (8/14/13)

Glad to hear all went well! You're off to a new beginning!
  9. Thanks Laura! I will try to post again after surgery as soon as I can. I'm so nervous I'm sick to my stomach, but thanks for the good luck wishes!

    Any Texas Gastric Sleeve Buddies?

I'm from Greenville...Dr Jayaseelan did my sleeve back in December 13, 2012...I am past my goal weight of 145 and 141 now and we are doing a gastric bypass for GERD reasons tomorrow...it will be his first! Feeling extremely nervous about that!
  11. Thank you sooooo much for the positive post. I really needed to hear this! I appreciate your comments greatly and am glad I posted this morning to hear from you and Laura today! I know I really need the surgery, I'm just so nervous so it's nice to get some positive feedback. Thank you so much!
  12. Thanks for that, Laura, you have no idea what your posts, ideas, encouragements, advice, etc., have meant to me this past 7 months or so! I would love to stay on!
  13. I'm so nervous now....being in the tiny percentage of people that just happen to have something go wrong all the time is weighing hard on my mind right now! My surgery for the bypass is on Friday...I weigh 141 at the moment...don't really want to lose too much more weight...and I'm terrified of the risks of this surgery. My doctor said he's done 4000 or so sleeves and I'm the only one he'll have to revise to a bypass....ugh! What if something goes terribly wrong?
  14. So, Risky1, give us an update. I am concerned for you and also very interested to know if you've gone through the bypass surgery and how it went, insurance approval, risks, recovery, etc. Please let us know asap.
  15. Yes, finally, I am scheduled for the original surgery once again, pending insurance, on August 16....and I am more nervous now than even the first sleeve surgery! I am holding steady at my goal weight of 145 which is great but with the new surgery I'm scared to lose too much more! Plus my doctor who's done 4000+ sleeve and bypass surgeries has never done a sleeve revision to bypass because there's never been a need...until now...I'm the statistic!
  16. Well my insurance company would not approve the bypass revision because I'm only 5 months out from my sleeve surgery and only 6 pounds from my (and my doctors) weight loss goal. So they opted to do the original hiatal hernia surgery with a myotomy (they split my stomach muscle in two) where it was narrow and the two previous dilations I had we're unsuccessful. I am now 3 1/2 weeks recovered from that surgery and very unhappy to report that my GERD/reflux is back in full force, even threw up again last night. I did an upper GI swallow test last Thursday and it showed the reflux and that my stomach isn't emptying like it should so I'm back on reglan on addition to the dexilant I've been taking for the reflux. I go back to the dr June 13 and am very very frustrated!

    All of my December sleevers...

I was sleeved on 12/13 and I am down 64 1/2 pounds. Only 8 more til goal weight of 145...!
  19. I didn't have to have one during my sleeve surgery...only cuz I developed a hematoma later...not everyone has to have one. Ask your dr!
  20. Thanks for that! Now I know what I've lost post op with complications. 85%!! So now I know that I can beat (and have so far) the 65% EWL averages. This just made my day! (I never claimed to be a math whiz )
