    SLEEVE TO BYPASS REVISION

Girl...I don't know what you should do to fix the problem...but I do know I'm scared for you to have the bypass....ugh...so scared. Please keep us posted.
  2. Hi Linda: Well I got bad news two ways today...good day in that I took a new profile pic, whaddya think? Im trying to stay positive so it's amazing how good you can look when you finally put on makeup, get your hair cut off (since it's falling out by the handsful) and dress up a little! The first bit of bad news was that when I saw my bariatric surgeon today he did another swallow test (I think it was like my 1349337487th test ) and he finally looked far enough down to find a kink, or possible hernia, in my intestines. So now he wants to do exploratory laproscopic surgery 3 weeks from today. The second bit was that my liver/GI doctor called and told me that my celiac artery is narrowed but to go have a vascular doctor do another ct scan that's special just for arteries and see how narrowed it is. If it's 85% or more, then I'll have to have the vascular surgeon put in a stent. Here's the kicker...I have to have the new ct scan for arteries and the capsule camera test done right away to determine the narrowing of the artery because I can't have the abdominal surgery until I have the stent surgery, if needed. Whew! It just keeps coming...one right after another!

    SLEEVE TO BYPASS REVISION

Good luck on your surgery, please keep us posted. What is your current weight, goal weight? I'm with you on the whole can't eat and hard to keep fluids down...I'm still having a heck of a time.
  5. Thank you sooooo much...I really appreciate this. I am so scared for myself and my family. I see my surgeon tomorrow for a follow up and hope to get results from my liver/GI doctor too.
  6. Hi all...well that permanent feeding tube is just looming around the corner...I've lost 3 more pounds this week...that i couldn't afford to lose! I'm now at 124. The dr asked me to put on 10 pounds not lose 3...I just pray i don't lose anymore or that awful feeding tube will be for real... The liver bloodwork came back clean. Waiting now on the abdomen ultrasound with doppler study results, should get them Monday. And still waiting for insurance to approve the capsule camera test, hopefully will hear about that this week. Just hope i don't need to go to the hospital in between now and then. Feeling really weak and yucky.
  7. Hi nervousnellie...I can certainly understand why you're nervous. Have you read any of the posts that I've posted? Look on the thread sleeve to bypass tomorrow if you haven't already. I've really been through the ringer. I don't even know where to start to talk to you...maybe i should ask if you have any questions? Please reply, I'll answer/tell you anything you need/want to know, even some stuff you probably don't want to hear. I feel for you and the mess you and your husband are going thru right now. Let me know if I can be of any help... Niki

    Changes!

I went from a 7w to a 6.5 regular...but the real change that i see is that I'm able to wear high heels for a whole day now, not just for a couple of hours! I'm much more comfortable in them than I used to be.
  9. If that was for me, thank you so much! I feel like my life wasn't just "altered" but now it's been threatened. I'm truly scared now. I thought I'd give you all an update on what my liver/GI Dr said yesterday at my appt with him. He said first of all that I may be just like this for the rest of my life if they can't find anything else. First of all, not only did I alter my anatomy once but I went ahead and did it twice. And my body may be rejecting the new anatomy right now. He says I may recover over time but how long it takes is unknown and what my body will go thru between now and then is also unknown...he also said a permanent feeding tube is not out of the question. (cries) In the meantime he's ordered 3 more tests. The first is more lab work concerning my liver...which he doesn't think is a problem, he says all bypass patients see fluctuating numbers when it comes to their livers. The second is an ultrasound (which no one else has ever done) and it will show my entire abdomen, not just the upper part which concerned my surgeon...it will also show the arteries in my abdomen that can, if twisted or moved or misshaped in any way cause vomiting and severe pain. They are usually protected by a layer of fat that has disappeared in people like me who have lost too much weight. The third is a test where I swallow a capsule that has a camera in it and takes thousands of pics as it travels thru. Two things can happen: it can pass like normal and they can get the images they want and see if there are any ulcers in my intestinal tract or it could get stuck which means immediate surgery but they would know exactly where it is and why it got stuck and that would also give them the answers they need. I just hope that one or all of these tests lead to some sort of answer to what may be causing my problems and that it wasn't just my vanity that led me and my poor family who's stood by me every step of the way down this path...as you can tell I'm feeling great remorse and guilt right about now. August Post Ops

I would definitely call your doctor but with my humble experience, when I had calf and thigh pain I was low on potassium. I supplemented by eating bananas and drinking apple juice...have you had bloodwork lately?

    August Post Ops

I've been having the dry heaves for the last week also. And I was told before I had surgery on August 16th that I had a large ulcer. They doubled my dexilant already. Then yesterday I just passed out cold on my front porch out of the blue and have been feeling that same way since. My doctor told me several weeks ago that I needed an EGD but didn't want to do it so soon after surgery but I am now 7 weeks. I have an appt with him on Monday to discuss the symptoms and possibility of the EGD now. How far out from surgery were you when you had your EGD?

I have also has this procedure done a few times and also had to have a myotomy the last time...everyone is different and you could be the one that only had to have it done once...you won't feel a thing, it doesn't hurt, you'll never know it happened, it'll be over before you know it and everything will be fine. Believe me, having it fixed once, twice, even three or four times is better than living with the alternative, not eating and throwing up all the time and not getting your nutrients in sucks! Keep us posted princess Sarah, wish you well!

    Any Band converters under........

I converted from the sleeve to the rny because I had severe acid reflux and could hardly keep anything down. The weight loss worked great for me it was just the acid reflux, I had never had it before the sleeve surgery. Converting to the bypass was the last ditch effort to alleviate the acid reflux, we had tried everything else. I had 8 surgeries/procedures in 8 months and I would not recommend going that route to anyone else.
