    Headaches?

I was in the er this week with a 3 day migraine. If you have had wls, you could be dehydrated. The er doctor told me most people that have wls surgery (not all) are dehydrated. I was severely dehydrated and has to get 2 bags of fluids with migraine meds. I thought I was getting enough water, but I wasn't. Just something to consider

  5. I was cash pay and I had a plastic surgeon. Before surgery I was promised all this stuff - like a nutritionist (there is none), helpful staff (after surgery that wasn't so). My doctor did want me to come in once a month for $200.00. I have gotten 1 fill. I have 2.5 ccs and I have lost weight consistently the entire time. I didn't feel like I needed as many fills as he wanted me to have. I realized that they were set up for only fills, no real checkups. So I started going to a regular family doctor. I won't get fills from him, but he will check up on me. But, it was the best I can do. I had no support system, except for on here (as far as medical support). I learned that i need to have a lot of Protein, which my doctor really never told me. I learned a lot of other things from this website. I hear all these people getting so much support from their doctors and that is not always the case. Its sad, because this surgery is expensive, but just stay on here, try to learn as much as you can, ask questions - I'm sure you will be ok Take care

    Chewing Gum

I was always scared to - but I love gum. So, I guess none for me
  7. Since Sunday I was feeling very tired, woozy, lightheaded and I had a very bad headache. Well yesterday I went to the emergency room and I had a migraine and I was very dehydrated. They gave me fluids and medication for my migraine. The emergency room physician told me that almost (not all) all weight loss patients are at one time or another dehydrated and alot of them are severely dehydrated. I was carefully watching my Protein, my calories and trying to eat healthy and then try to get some exercise in. I wasn't watching my Water intake as closely. I thought that I was fine with my water. I clearly was not. I wanted to share this with all of my friends on here, maybe my mistake will help others to make sure that they drink the recommended amount of water they are supposed to.

Remember to Drink Your Water - Lesson Learned

If in doubt, I am sure that you can call your surgeon's office and speak to a nurse over the phone and they should be able to tell you what's right for you. However, I copied this from the Mayo Clinic website: "How much Water do you need? Every day you lose water through your breath, perspiration, urine and bowel movements. For your body to function properly, you must replenish its water supply by consuming beverages and foods that contain water. So how much Fluid does the average, healthy adult living in a temperate climate need? The Institute of Medicine determined that an adequate intake (AI) for men is roughly 3 liters (about 13 cups) of total beverages a day. The AI for women is 2.2 liters (about 9 cups) of total beverages a day."

    What Keeps YOU going?

What keeps me motivated is my family too. I am also able to do more than I have in a long time. A lot of my aches and pains are almost gone. I am able to walk long distances with no problem at all. I am very happy with my decision. It's really starting to change my life.

Is This The Healthiest You've Ever Been?

I had a goal for myself to look the best I have ever looked at 45. I'm not at goal weight yet, but to he honest - this is the healthiest I've ever been in my entire life! I have never actually exercised consistently, never actually read those labels or watched and counted every single thing that I haven eaten- until now! I had no idea that I would be able to keep this up! It was difficult at first, but after I caught on, it's much easier. Curious if everyone else feels the same? Is it easy for you? Hard?

Arm tightness 2 days post op

Call your doctor, maybe it has something to do with the medicine they gave you during surgery or the iv's. I would just check because the warm to the touch feeling that you mentioned should probably be looked at & it could be nothing, but it's best to be sure! I hope you feel better

    When does it get better?

You are getting your body ready for surgery. When I was going through my pre-op diet - it sucked! But, I kept thinking that this was my last step before my surgery. When I first got banded I wasn't that hungry, it was a few weeks before I became hungry again. The difference between now and after surgery is that you will not be able to eat as much and that constriction is what makes wls different from anything that you've tried before. It's worth it - trust me I've been where you are! This is the hard part - you are almost there!

How Do You Plan Your Meals?

When I go to the grocery store I get a lot of healthy things just for me. Every single day I prepare my breakfast & lunch to take to work & any snacks. If I don't, there's a very healthy vegetarian restaurant by my work that prepares organic healthy food - so I have no excuse!

    Commenting on MyFitnessPal

Yea I never say anything either - I mean we all screw up on occasion. This one girl that I became "friends" with on my fitness pal was mad because I didn't allow anyone to look at my food. She was like stalking me and asking me to change it - and I did, I changed the settings. Now, she hadn't logged on like forever - wth lol
  23. I am obsessed with my scale. I weigh myself all the time. I feel it makes me accountable. I know that some people have said to get rid of the scale. I didn't have a scale for a few years and the weight that I gained was ALOT (before wls). So, I feel like if I weigh myself often I can make any kind of adjustments that I need to accomplish my goal weight. I know that this might not be the case for some of you, but I still don't trust myself at all! I am not going to agonize about a couple of pounds, but it makes me honest with myself.

Do you ever feel disappointed that you can't eat much?

I eat pretty good 99 percent of the time. Since I've had wls I really don't feel satisfied with my food. It's not that I'm not getting enough, it's just it's not enjoyable to me anymore. Sounds crazy.

    at my goal!

That is so amazing! Good for you! I love your picture, by the way.
