    *Food Addiction, Who's an Addict?*

Congratulations on your success! Thanks for the post. shelli:bandit
  4. Well said losingjustme and kacee. The lapband is a only a tool. You have to be committed to change your lifestyle and eating habits if you really want to see the results. I am trying to follow my doctors and nutritionists instructions to a T because I want this to work. Plus I do get really really full - I guess because I am only 2 weeks out. The hardest thing for me so far is waiting the 30 minutes to drink after a meal. Thank you for being such good role models for us newbies. shelli:bandit

So sorry you are feeling that way - maybe you should call your doctor to be on the safe side. It probably is just gas. Are you sipping slowly? Hope you feel better soon. shelli:girl_hug:

Hi Candle, I have been using fitday.com too! Also, I just found a new site last night called caloriescount.com - that kind of looked interesting too! Have you decided what you are having for dinner tonight? Are you trying to stick to just 3 meals a day? What kind of crackers are you permitted on Phase 2? :hungry: shelli

Hi Claramae, I am so sorry to hear about your car breakdown. You certainly are under some kind of black cloud - by the powers invested in me I command your cloud be lifted - lol - I wish it was that easy don't you? Can't go wrong with any Toyota. It'll last a lifetime for you. Hang in there Claramae! My thoughts are with you. shelli:girl_hug::girl_hug:

Post Op Diet Journal - Phase 1

Hi Candle, I am doing good but look at my stats. I am at least 100 pounds more than you. I think when a person is as heavy as me the weight comes off a little faster in the beginning. Are you journalling what you are eating with calorie counts and Protein counts? I find this is very helpful. One day I ate some extra broth and I thought I would gain weight because of the sodium but I was wrong and I was in shock. I have been only eating/drinking 500 to 600 calories per day. Phase 2 which starts tomorrow is only 800 calories and last for 3 weeks. Then my Phase 3 starts and that last for 6 weeks(soft adaptive foods). I hope by the end of that 9 week period I will only be a grease spot on the floor -lol. How is your hunger level? I have been getting a little hungry(twinges) but then I eat a half cup of something and I am stuffed. Candle, you are doing really really good too! Darn that TOM. I used to gain between 3-5 lbs. during that time. You are doing awesome too! shelli:girl_hug:

Hi Claramae, I feel a little better today. Thanks for your good wishes. I know by now that you must be really really sick of the liquid stage. Hang in there okay? What kind of Protein shakes are you drinking? Tomorrow is the 2 week anniversary of our new bands. So much has changed already. I am permitted to start on pureed foods tomorrow so I kind of already added a scrambled egg to my diet yesterday and today. I was hoping this would help with my energy level. I have dropped 9 lbs. since last Tuesday and I am in shock and awe at this whole process. I will be thinking of you today so if you need to write me I will be around. Take care, shelli:girl_hug:

Post Op Diet Journal - Phase 1

Hey all, I have been so tired today and yesterday. Is anyone else experiencing this? Hey Claramae and Candle! Claramae you are going to pass both Candle and me up when you move on to solids. Started the pureed foods a little today. Had half liquid and half pureed. You won't believe how full you get on 2 spoonfuls of mashed potatoes, 2 spoonfuls of applesauce, and 1 scrambled egg. Super stuffed and only 800 calories today. I am going to bed and hopefully fell better tomorrow. sleep well everyone.:notagree

    Dr Yau's pre-op diet - ideas?

Count yourself lucky if you can have yogurt and cottage cheese. I am on my week 4 of the full liquid diet and neither of those is permitted. 2 weeks before my surgery I had to stick to Protein shakes and broths. Now 2 weeks after my surgery I am on the same diet but with strained cream Soups added. I start the pureed foods on Monday. WhooHooooooooooo! The first 3 days of the liquid preop is hard - after that is gets easier - trust me. Good luck with your surgery. shelli

    My first post from SC

Hi Diana, Welcome Diana! You will be so amazed all the friends you will have here at lbt. It has helped me so much to come on here and learn, vent, and ask questions. Diana, I have family that lives outside of Columbia, SC. We visit your area every summer. Take care, shelli:)

Post Op Diet Journal - Phase 1

Hi Candle, I had a little nibble of scrambled egg today. I have been so lethargic for the past two days I don't think I am getting in enough Protein or calories. I am not too scared to eat pureed food because some of the cream Soups I have had have been as thick as baby food. Also I have had no nausea and all the runblings in my tummy have gone away. I am ready - bring it on. Yeah I am not looking forward to the first fill even though I trust my doctor but come on that needle is soooooooooo long. After you zapped the hard boil eggs could you have make egg salad out of it? I am wondering what that will do to tuna. Maybe I should use the food processor or blender instead. I can see Phase 2 will be an new adventure too. Take care, shelli

Post Op Diet Journal - Phase 1

It sounds like both of you are doing great!!! This is some adventure isn't it? I start pureed/mushy foods on Monday-------that is Phase 2 for me and I have to follow that for 3 weeks. Can't wait to have some mashed potatoes, egg salad, and pureed tuna??????????????????????????? Oh and scrambled egg - yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very happy with my weight loss so far. Keep up the good work, keep healing and have a great weekend. love ya, shelli:girl_hug:

Post Op Diet Journal - Phase 1

I promised my doctor I wouldn't weigh myself everyday and I have failed. Is anyone else having problems with this? I got on the scale this morning and I lost 3 more pounds and I am very happy. It kind of motivates me to stay on my liquids and write everything down but I don't want it to backfire later on when my weight loss slows down. How is everyone else handling this? Any advice would be much appreciated at this time. shelli:cool:

    time off

Marcy, If I had to do it all over again I would tell very few people. People really do mean well but ----------------------------------- Good luck on your decision. shelli:)
  21. Mumzee58, there is a man in our class that lost 170 lbs. in a year with the lapband. It can be done if you follow exactly what your doctor and his staff recommend. I am less than two weeks out and have already lost 33 pounds. Good Luck on your decision. shelli:girl_hug:

    Stitches

I was so shocked when I read this thread because I have that end piece sticking out too. I thought the doctor made a mistake and he left some fishing line in me - my husband calls it cat gut. I am shocked that others have this too. I think I will leave it alone and see what happens. thanks, shelli
  23. You could eat Kashi Go Lean. It is high in protein and high in fiber. Start out with a small amount though because it gives me much gas. But keeps my system running smoothly if you know what I mean. I think it has about 8 grams of protein. My husband jokes that if he eats that for breakfast he is full all day and doens't need to eat but of course he does----------------------------- shelli:girl_hug:

Did they weigh you on surgery day?

Yup when they took me into the presurgery holding area they weighed me and I was down about 14 pounds from the liquid preop. shelli:whoo:

A bladder infection on top of everything else you have been thru - now that just sucks. I hope you feel better with that soon. Those can be quite annoying. I will have to look for that product at Walmart when I go there this week - thanks. Wow, you are losing great Claramae. I promised my doctor I will not step on the scale everyday so I am not allowed to weigh myself again until Monday. Monday is the day I start on Phase 2 the pureed foods - I can't wait. Do you think hamburger would taste good pureed? You know with the cheese, tomato, onion, ketchup, etc. lol Take care and I will talk to you tomorrow. shelli:girl_hug:
