That seems like the impossible dream!

Please add me to the 200+ list. I started out at 397 and now weigh 295. My goal is to weigh 150 pounds. So my total weight loss should be about 247 pounds! Now that I have put that in writing it sounds impossible but I have dropped 102 lbs. since August 27, 2007 so I hope to continue on this downward spiral. My surgeon wants me to really try and focus on exercise now which is going to be the real test of my strength because I hate it so much. Well maybe the loose skin will be my motivation. Thanks, shelli:eek:
  2. Well, it is official. I have developed a serious crush on my lapband doctor. I wondered if this has happened to anyone else and what they did about it? I am having "marital issues" which could be attributing to these feelings toward him. When I go for follow up appointments I am so afraid I am going to say something really stupid and mess up the doctor - patient relationship we currently have which by the way is awesome. With his help my lap band results have been outstanding so far and I want to keep being successful. Please help. shelli:ranger:
  3. Hi Candle, How was your trip to Florida? Did you have fun? Did things go well? My son was home from Phoenix at Thanksgiving. He looked wonderful and is doing so well although he is still looking for that special lady. He sure does have a tough time in the love department. He thought I looked awesome and watched my plate everytime I went to eat. I think he is kind of proud of me. His firm works 24/7 so he signed up to work the phones on Christmas Eve and Christmas Evening. He can't make it home for Christmas. We are going to Phoenix in March and at that time I hope to weigh close to 250 so I fit better in the airline seat. Thanks for remembering about my son. You are doing awesome Candle. In my surgeons office he doesn't have any fill assistants. There are only two Bariatric Surgeons in my whole city and my surgeon is the only one that does the lap bands so I guess he has the time. When will you get your next fill? I cannot believe the difference between the first and second fills. I have so much restriction now. Rarely get hungry or cravings. It is awesome and so amazing. Everyone is noticing and I have dropped three dress sizes. I can't wait to get under 300 pounds. I am hoping to do this by the first of the year. So good to hear from you too!!! shelli:girl_hug:
  4. thanks Julie - I have enjoyed your posts. You are doing so well.
  5. Of course it will never happen. I am married. The doctor is married. It's a crush that's all. thanks

Anyone Else Having an Increased Sex Drive?

Yes I am so "horny" I am bouncing off the walls. It started right after my second fill. I am insatiable. I feel like what I think a teenage boy would feel like in school well when he well you know.................................... I am happy to hear that I am not alone.
  7. , Well my surgeon is hot in a subtle way although to me he is the most amazing man I have ever met. He has so much passion for the obese and he never passes judgement on his patients. He never seems "grossed out" by the way we look. Some of his patients are not very educated and he never seems that any of that matters to him. He has a wonderful sense of humor that he brings out in his support meetings. We look forward to our monthly meetings so much. As you can see I am quite smitten by him. He is "hot" not because of his looks(although his looks are just fine) but because he is the way he is - so caring and so supportive. Plus he has the best "hands" I have ever come across.

    Post Band Blues

Your enthusiam and energy has cheered me. I like what you said about it being a trade off. Everytime I put on that sweater or pair of slacks and they are too big or fit better I think it is amazing what is taking place in my life right now. Thank you for your support and for being there.

    Post Band Blues

Yes, there are lot of old issues surfacing now that I can't deaden them with food. My doctor said that for every pound of fat you lose you lose a unit of estrogen so he said as long as I am losing I will be in the "fat losing menopause." I know all the reasons for the blues but ------------well somedays------------------------- Thank you for your support and your kind words OH juli. Take care, shelli:)

    My Worst Fat Day EVER!

, The liquid pre-op diet was the hardest part of the whole process for me as well as for many others. The only advice I have is to take each day at a time and do the very best you can do. It will be over before you know it and you will be proud of yourself that you did your very best. Regards, shelli:girl_hug:

    My Worst Fat Day EVER!

Thank you so much for sharing your "worst fat day story" with us. I have been feeling very blue for about two days and have been feeling very sorry for myself and crying alot too. When I first read your post I got tears in my eyes remembering the "hurts" I have lived through. Then I reread your post and started laughing out loud. You definitely have a talent for expressing yourself. I wish you the best with your lap banding. You will love it. It is wonderful to not be a slave to food anymore, to never not feel full, and to not to try to fight out of control food cravings. I was banded in late August and it has been the "best" experience of my life. Everyday I am amazed how it is working for me and how so much has changed in such a short time. I have so much hope now for my life. I wish for you much success and if you ever need a friend I will be hear for you. Good luck to you! shelli:girl_hug:
  14. Hi! For about the last week I have had a sharp pinching pain to the left of my belly button when I bend over or roll to either side. Has anyone else experienced this and if so what were you diagnosed with??? I am hoping it is not a hernia or flipped port. Any one have any ideas? Please help. shelli:ranger:
  15. Julie, you are such an inspiration to me. Thank you for opening up the most personal part of your life to share with me and others. I hope I can be as brave as you someday. I am in awe of you. Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you! shelli:ranger:

    Big Losers....come in here please!!!!!

I did not have to lose a percentage of my weight to get approved for surgery. I did have to try and diet and exercise for 6 months prior and have the doctor document it each month. On August 4th I had gained back all the weight I had lost and was back up to 397 - ugh! Then I went on a spa vacation and lost 10 pounds in a week. Then when I came back the surgeon put me on a preop diet and I lost 14 presurgery. The rest of the weight came off due to the band and following all the rules the dietician and surgeon had sent up to the best I could. I owe my success to following the bandster rules. I am now in my last week of soft foods and have had two fills as of today. I have reached a short plateau(at least I hope it is short) and since my fill yesterday feel ready to drop another 15 in the next 3 weeks. I now need to bump up my exercise because I only do a little walking right now. I need to get busy. Write me anytime if you have any concerns. I know you will love your band and your new less painful life ahead. Take care, shelli:girl_hug:

    Big Losers....come in here please!!!!!

It is most probably the weight. You have described symptoms that I have had and which are getting better since my surgery. But you should talk to your PCP about your lower back pain. I am moving so much better already even though I have quite a ways to go. Are you getting the band? Hope you feel better soon. shelli:ranger:

    Seriously Thinking About Backing Out

Molly, The preop part of the diet is the hardest part especially the first three days. If you can make it the first three then things will get better - I promise. Have you tried Carnation Instant Breakfast - No Sugar Added. It's not too bad if you doctor it up a little bit with vanilla, a scoop of unflavored Protein, ice cubes, etc. I was so scared Molly before the surgery. I hadn't been in the hospital since 1972 and it just blew my mind that I was electing to have the surgery. But if you trust your surgeon and yourself and your willing to at least try to make the changes to the best of your ability I can guarantee that you will not be sorry. I was so afraid that I couldn't change my way of thinking with food. But I just took each stage one step at a time and it just kept getting easier and easier and I am so happy with the results. I now have "hope" that I can get to under 200 pounds and live and have a better life. I haven't had hope in years because I failed so many times with Weight Watchers, etc. Many people on this site have felt as you have before the surgery but most I bet do not have any regrets. Don't give up - okay? If you need to write you can PM me and I will help you with anything you need. Take care, shelli:girl_hug:

A hurtful comment from a close friend

My "best" friend said to me that she doesn't think I will look good if I go under 200 lbs. WTF? She is 5'8" and weighs about 156. I was quite taken aback because I would like to get back to my "normal" weight of 150. Maybe it is competition or the fear of change but a true friend would want the best for you in all aspects of your life. From what I have experienced in the past people in general can say such hurtful things and they don't realize when you are overweight a person in general is more sensitive - at least I know I am that way. People that know me come up to me in restaurants to see what and how much I am eating. And it kind of bugs me. Since getting my band I am just so proud of myself that I had the courage to have the surgery, follow the lap band rules, and have such good success so far. You know deep down inside what is best for you so be strong and stay strong and know that the people here on lbt are here for your support any time day or night. Take care, shelli:girl_hug:
  22. I am so excited for you and will be interested in your progress. I hope to be where you are someday (soon?). Thank you for sharing this very personal experience with us bandsters. Take care, shelli:ranger:

    Pain in stomach and back?

Sounds to me like you might have pending gallbladder trouble. I was banded on 9/27 then had to have my gallbladder removed on 10/1. Does the pain come after you eat something? If so better call your doctor. shelli:ranger:

    Anyone else take Zoloft?

I have been on Zoloft for years. I did not have to stop taking it pre or post op. Just missed one day - day of surgery. Take it if you need it. Good luck to you!!! shelli:girl_hug:
