It's been awhile since I posted... Feeling so good about myself today, got on the scale and I weighed 197. I am so amazed at this journey I've been on the last five months. This is a very exciting time for me as I approach my 35th Birthday. Congratulations to all those that have recently begun their journey.

I crave a diet coke/Pepsi from time to time. Haven't had one since Dec. 16th. The day before my surgery. I have burgers minus the bread just a much smaller portion. I use to love eating the bread at my fav restaurants and now it's like a thing of the past. If I eat pizza it's Domjnos Thin crust but I rather continue in my journey and I rarely have rice or Pasta.< /p>

Had my 3 month follow-up day, I'm down 52lbs. I need to really start working out, it's been hard with all the snow and it took awhile for me to get back to normal. I started with my trainer last week and it felt great to be able to workout and not have some if that extra baggage holding me down.
Good Luck to everyone as we all continue on our Journey!

Just came from my 3 month post-op appt. I'm down 52lba since surgery on 12/17/13. I actually just started out working with a trainer last week, after not working out the first three months. I know it's time for me to get myself on track with my exercise but I am still proud of my weightloss thus far.

I was feeling like I was coming down with something prior toy surgery back in Dec 2013. I drunk boiled tea bags with apple cider vinegar, honey and lemon. You can also just mix the apple cider vinegar, honey and lemon together like a Syrup. That helped me a lot, it was too close to my surgery date to get meds from my dr. This concoction cleared things up.

I agree with everyone else, be confident in you and what you bring to the table. I was sleeved on 12/17 and have lost 43lbs this far. I've allowed myself to start dating. I've been in two dates with two separate men but I told them upfront abt my surgery, due to the fact I didn't want them to look at me strange for the inability to eat my meal. It was fine, they understood and didn't judge me. Actually, they felt I looked pre and post-op. For us it's abt the weight, for the person that truly likes us for who we are, it's about US, the person! So enjoy yourself and don't worry abt the rest. We all the same size in the dark!

I didn't exactly mean it was only up to the surgeons. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
I cannot imagine going through this without tons of prep and research and work. Obviously many do. I've also known a few people that shouldn't have qualified for the surgery (low BMI), and still had insurance and surgeon approval for surgery. Should they be allowed to have it because they "want" it? No. I was also referring mostly to a surgery group that I'm aware of that run people through like a factory for surgery. That's very irresponsible to me. It's also not solving any problems; for the patient or for the cost of healthcare.
It is very much up to each individual to figure this out. And the healthcare professionals (not insurance companies) should help guide and educate them toward the best decision for them.
So, you feel that people with a BMI under 40 shouldn't get the surgery!?! I disagree with you as one of those people. I am 34 yo, I had my surgery on 12/17/13 weighting 267lbs, at 5'10 with a BMI 37. I have been overweight since birth and have lost the same 80lbs at least 5x's in my adult and not including all the diets I have been on since childhood. So, I am sorry but everyone who decides to have the surgery low or high BMI has had their own struggle with their weight. I choose to have the sleeve bc I'm tired of losing the weight, gaining the weight and ultimately bc I know I was eventually going to become a higher BMI, so why should I went tell then to do something abt my weight at my age. I'm still young and want to be comfortable on my own skin and live life without in extra weight to hold me down. Your entitled to your own opinion but as a low BMI who has several health issues I had to say something.

I had surgery on 12/17/13, I didn't have a pre-op diet. My surgery weight was 267 and my BMI was 37. They measured my height at 5'10. I'm 2 months out as of this past Monday and I am down 41lbs. Regardless of your BMI, it varies by each individual but us lower BMI's can give the higher BMI's a run for their weight as well.

I'm finding now that the gas pain is really coming from the amount of food in eating. I'm guessing that's a sign. I'm on stage 3 now, eating mushies... And even though I'm eating the recommended amount from the nutritionist, sometimes it's still too much. As soon as I feel a little gas, I stop eating... This seems to be helping! And as far as our proximity, we should all find out whet we live and hand out one day... We could all go out to dinner and order from the kids menu!!!
My surgeon gave me a prescription for 40mg of omeprazole a delayed release capsule, which helped with the gas bc I was depending on gas-x entirely too much! What a difference. I had my surgery on 12/17/13. SW 267 CW 226

Hello All!!

I just t happened to stumble across this topic, and glad I did!! I'm 3 weeks pre-op, and can't wait to get this journey started!!! Well, not actually looking forward to the actual surgery part, but looking forward to the losing and essentially getting my life back!!

Any good words??

I'm three weeks post-op as of tomorrow. The surgery is the easy part so don't sweat it. I had to stay in the hospital six days due to severe nausea. Besides that my surgery had no complications, I just went back to work today. I weight myself this morning and I am 24lbs down. I know I would have never got this far on my weightloss surgery without going through the journey with my sleeve. Best decision I've made, it seems difficult at first but I think it was in my head'

So happy they allowed me to come home this evening. Just been on pens and needles in fear that I might pull a staple. I bend dwn on my knees to pick something up without thinking it thru b4 I did it. So of course, I had to pull myself back up. Now, I'm terrified I pulled my staples bc I was told not to pull or push anything, I would think that would mean my own weight as well.

I didn't get the runs, have been so nauseous since the surgery. I agree the drink was HORRIBLE, I almost gaged. Been in the hospital since surgery on Tuesday due to my nausea issues. Praying everyone has a healthy & speedy recovery.
You are not kidding!! That liquid you swallow is evil! I can't stop going and even had an accident!! It's now almost 12 hours later and it hasn't stopped :/ blah
Girl that swallow test gave me the runs!!!!Finally on the sleeved side as of 8pm last night. Been very nauseous, passed my swallow test this morning, they are keeping me another night.

Well, due to the snow storm in Northern NJ I didn't get sleeved until 8pm last night. My surgeon said everything went great and I passed my swallow test this morning. Been every nauseous since I got out of surgery, the nurses thinks its associated to the anesthesia and not my sleeve. Did begin my liquids around 2pm today.

Mine is at 4, have to be at the hospital by 2. So nervous! I didn't have to do a colon cleanse nor did I have to do a pre-op diet. I've been so nervous that my stomach is going to be full when I go into surgery! I know God will have I backs and He will have the last say in all of this and see us thru... Good luck Ladies, I will see you on the sleeved side this afternoon...
What time is your surgery set for. The colon cleanse was the worst. I didn't finish all mine, I had about two cups left and I fell off to sleep (head was hurting). It was just too nasty. I think my taste buds have already changed. My surgery is set for130, I'm very nervous. I know it's just anxiety and we are going to be just FINE.Hello mine is today, I can't sleep because Soooooo, nervous. I'm really scared. My husband doesn't makes it any better, with the negativity. I tried to clean my colon out so I don't crap on the table. Packed and ready to go. I don't know if it's anxiety, scared-ness , fear , or all of these above.

I had my surgery with Dr. Schimdt from Advanced Laparscopic Associates. He was great and I had no issues with his staff. My car manage was Nina and she was great!!!
