  1. Congratulations. Mommy of 7 and welcome. I'm scheduled for surgery on Dec. 17th, so we will be going through the process at the same time. I am super excited as well for this new change and journey I am about to embark on. I am from New Jersey.
  2. I was working so hard to get everything completed for my surgery date for October 30th. Now, I'll have to wait until January 3rd because my PCP prefers for my to have the procedure at the hospital & stay overnight instead of at the surgical center like I was scheduled for... I am so ready to get my journey started!

The only clearance I have to get is from my PCP. Her only requirement is that I have it done a the hospital oppose to the surgical center and I stay overnight due to my heart murmur and high blood pressure.

    Dec 2013

I just had to get my psychological and dietician evaluations. I completed the pre-op group seminar, so all I have left is my bloodworm, EKG and chest X-ray 30 days prior to my surgery. My PCP sis my letter of medical necessity and I had to submit my attempts in the last 12 months. Did you have anything similar to do?

    Getting banded in two months

Hello Abby! I have found this site to be very helpful in my quest to be a bandster. I spoke with my case manager yesterday and my surgery has been pushed up. Thank goodness!!! So, I will be joining the holiday bandster bandwagon. My surgery date is scheduled for Dec. 17th and I am so excited!!!! It works out well bc my students will be on holiday break & I will be recovering. No one will suspect a thing! Now, when they see the change in my weight they will not be the wiser to think I had WLS.

    Had my 1st consult!

I'm tentatively scheduled for Jan. 3rd. I did the pre-Bariatric seminar, nutritional eval & consult with my surgeon. I have one more appointment with the psychologist. Once that is all done & my PCP completes my letter of medical necessity, I should be officially approved by my insurance company. I hate that I have to wait three more months, I would like to start this journey now.

    Started the process last week!

Alisa, I completey understand what ur going through... I had my consult today and have a tentative surgery date for 10/30. I was surprised that I didn't have to do the supervised diet due to attempts in the past year to lose weight. All I have to do is get my psychological evaluation, nutritional evaluation, medical necessity letter written by my PCP & my labwork. I work at a high school as a social worker in the school based program. So, I am a little on edge about being out of work so early in the year but was told I should be able to return in about two weeks so that was comforting to know. Plus, I've only been in my position at this site for about 5 months as of this month. I was so excited about my consult I didn't ask the surgeon any questions but I've been researching the lapband procedure since it first came out. I know it's scary and exciting at the same time. So happy I decided to take this step in my life. Keep me posted on your progress.

    I took the first step!

Today I had my consult, I had all these questions I wanted ask & was so excited I forgot them all. My tentative surgery date is October 30, as long as all my require the are completed by the 16th. As soon as I left the doctors office and got into my car, I started making all the necessary appointments needed to keep my date. So far so good! I go see my PCP tomorrow, I have my psychological scheduled for Sept. 17th and my nutritional evaluation on Oct. 26th. I am excited beyond belief to get this journey started! I did start to reschedule for after the holidays but its no time like the present, plus there will be plenty of holidays for me to celebrate and none of them will be as great as being skinny will feel!
  21. I finally made my mind up and attended a WLS seminar this week. I am scheduled for my consult on September 5th. I cannot wait to start to process to a new me, emotionally, mentally and physically. I've been trying to get my PC to get on board with my decision for sometime now & she finally did. I am so excited!!! People don't understand how discouraging it can be to lose weight & gain just to lose & gain it all over again. I am tired of being I am tired of being in limbo with my weight. I am 34 years old and have been on a diet for more than half of my life. I want to be free from the fat that consumes my body; which ultimately impacts my health. I've been taking medication for hypertension since I was about 23/24 years old and found out this year that I need hip replacements. I need to lose the weight to prolong my health and any future surgery. Listening to everyone's testimony has been a great help in affirming my decision and truly knowing in my heart that it will be the best thing for me to finally be free.

30 and getting ready for my band on 12/17

Evening all, I have recently decided to officially start the process to see if I am a good candidate for lapband surgery. I've done research on the procedure for years & my PC finally decided that she would back my decision medically. She told me I had the "fat gene," lol. I've struggled with my weight from birth. I've lost 50, 60 and even 70lbs in my lifetime; none of which I have ever sustained for more than two years. I know this procedure will not only assist me with losing in a healthy manner but also assist me with maintaining a healthy weight. I am ready for this journey bc I am definitely tired of fighting the scale. Tomorrow I am going for a pre-op seminar to determine if the lapband is the best option for me; which in my heart I already know it is. Next July, I will be 35 & I want to start it off feeling good about who I am; just like when I turned 30.
