  1. Im 6 months post op and only started hitting fluid goals at around month 5. Some days I just can't drink that much..regardless of what it is. But decaf coffee and propel zero are my go too.
  2. I did track. Up until last week. I was really struggling with what I thought was an acceptable caloric goal, because my nut won't give me one. They practice the hunger trust model. So, I took a giant leap of faith and decided to trust my sleeve and that the surgery did it's job. One thing that I discovered in this is that my body is now at the point of needing healthy fats. Yesterday I had a full fat yogurt, half an avocado, 2 servings of cashews, at least announce and a half of reduced fat cheese...you get the idea. Try adding in a healthy fat to each meal you have. That will keep you full longer and feeling satisfied way longer. I'm able to go up to 5-6 hours as long as I add in a healthy fat source. You are welcome to come find me and add me on. Myfitnesspal....I haven't tracked for a week but everything up to that point is there. Or add me on Instagram...I've been posting pics of my meals for those following me on there...I'm gomekast on both apps. Here is what I've been doing food wise..I'm a creature of habit and cook in batches, so I tend to eat the same things for a while. Breakfast-Quest bar and dannon light n fit Greek yogurt. Snack-cashews..if I need it Lunch-half an avocado sprinkled with verde salsa topped with 3 oz tuna salad(made with aprox 3T ff miracle whip and 2T relish) Dinner-half a chicken breast burger, half cup cottage cheese, two strawberries.(sometimes skip cottage cheese and add in half of an egg muffin I have made up) If I get hungry later after dinner, I will snack on some planters brand Peanut Butter chocolate spring mix I found at target. It's a yummy treat. Hope some of this helps... My stats are HW 286 SW 279 CW 189 Kelly
  3. Ive been reading the debates on telling vs not telling. Ive told my personal circle of people I trust. I just recently got back on Facebook, and am not ok with publicly blasting it on there. Its just my choice and I dont like attention. But what bothers me are the people on here thst say...their going to figure it out after you've lost 100 pounds. To me, thats sounds like you dont have a single ounce of confidence in your own abilities. Wls or not, we've all had to bust our a$$es. Why spend any time thinking others will call you out on it and wonder if you've lost it by making changes to your eating and working out..or by surgical methods?? Because afterall, weve still done the hard work to get to where we are. If we've got so called 'friends' who will speculate if we have done anything surgically, then they really arent a real honest genuine friend then are they?!
  4. That was me too. I'd look threw instagram pics and see what people were eating, just so I could see what others were having. I am not at goal yet.. as of this morning I've lost 97, and have 29 more to go. I'm fairly close. You're definitely not alone.

    Week One Liquids

I had it ready for post op but just couldn't do it. I couldn't get much down becuase my sleeve was swollen. All I wanted was sf popsicles and propel zero water that has vitamins in it.

    Stall is depressing me :-(

I think it could. Are you able to handle any types of water? Smartwater is a popular choice for post op, or any of the propel zero or vitamin zero types of water. My trick now at this point is to brew a whole pot of decaf coffee in the morning. I have a 34 oz insulated jug I carry around with me. U add nonfat milk powder to it, which is added protein, and just a little sf syrup to taste. I know a whole pot is around 50 oz, so thats my goal. Before the decaf I never hit my fluid goal. Experiment and find a couple things that your sleeve will tolerate.
  8. Sandi, I had similiar story as yours. I had a slight double stricture. Dealt with full liquids until about month 5. Now at 6 months I can finally eat. I finally feel like I can enjoy the journey now.
  9. I drank an isopure the day before my surgery. By that point it didnt take much to fill me up, so that day was probably the easiest for me. Whatever you have, make sure its a real clear approved. A lot of the fruit Protein powders were not approved by my program, so I was pretty limited. Good luck!

    Getting the hang of it

I had acid reflux before surgery and still have it after, but its nothing like it used to be. I take rx prilosec, because its super cheap to get it voa rx rather than otc. I can take it and literally sit here and feel it working within 20-30 minutes. Its worth making a call to your nurse or program and asking them for something different. No use in suffering with it.

    Stall is depressing me :-(

Stalls happen at EVERY point in this journey. Im 6 months post op and they happen more frequently now at this point. That said, I decided to stop tracking all food religiously. I started to trust my sleeve(like another poster above me touched on) and the signals its sending to me. The results? This morning I woke up with just under a 3 pound drop overnight. Only thing I changed was trusting the surgery and my sleeve.
  12. Me! Yesterday for lunch I had half of an avocado that had some white tuna salad ontop of it. Pre surgery...never would've eaten the avocado. I still have the aversion to processed stuff, but now I can't deal with any red meats. No way. Anything green that came from a tree or the ground gets my mouth watering now. White stuff? Not at all. My body just naturally wants the healthy food now. I love it too.

    Swollen/bloated belly

Use a heating pad in the swollen belly. I did that and it took it all down after just a few days. I even slept with it on at night. And I could feel a slight pulling on my right side for several months. But now at 6 months out I dont feel it.

    Weight Gain

I tend to agree with Madam here. One other thing is that I have recently begun to focus on adding in healthy fats at each meal. Yesterday for lunch I had half an avocado with 3 oz of white tuna salad ontop of it. I ate that at 12..finished at around 12:30. It was 6 oclock when I realized I needed to eat something for dinner. The avocado really kept me satisfied...shockingly so. So thats taught me an important lesson in my own journey. I need to better balance my meals and not just focus on the protein part but also the healthy fat aspect too. Not sure if this will help any but I thought I would share my revelation. Good luck on your journey honey, we are all here for you.
  15. So, initially I only told my Mom, sister, husband and kids, and 2 friends. My Mom has told the rest of our family and other close family friends she knew would be supportive. My husband just in the last month has told his parents. We told my brother in law jist because he is a Dr, and we ask him questions from time to time. Besides that, nobody else knows and they wont ever know, if I can help it. I just recently got back on Facebook after a year off of it. The majority of the people on there have no clue and it will be kept that way. What I do medically speaking is my business, not everyone elses business. I did post a picture showing my weight loss up to this point. The most recent pic was of me from last summer and I was 285-290. The new pic is 100 pounds less. Everyone freaked out and I did get some questions. I didnt lie. .I told them I was doing high Protein, low carb and the people at GNC and Vitamim Shoppe know me well. Told them I've cut portions way back and I swim, run, do the elliptical, bikes and walk with my kids. Nothing ive said is a lie. Its my truth, and anyone who dares to question me publically will be put in their place by the ones that support me and by myself. Yeaterday I even posted a pic of what I ate for lunch. The ones that don't know just see a healthy meal, not a bariatric patient meal.

3 Days post op feeling shaky and weak

Kelly is right. You just had major surgery, your only goal right now is lots of rest and fluids. Soon enuf the numbing will wear off and it will be a whole new ball game. Rest now so you can be heal faster. And for post op, I drank propel zero. It has Vitamins in it..made a huge difference in my recovery. That and my heating pad were my bff's for the first month. 6 months post op now and propel zero is still a staple in my house.
  17. I've been posting pics on Instagram of my meals at 6 months out. Feel free to search for me..I'm gomekast on there. A close up of my eyes are my profile pic and my settings are open so you're able to follow without my approval.

    pms carb load

I usually have the same thing happen to me. I usually just eat some extra protein, or add in another shake for a week. My calories do go up that week beforehand for sure, I just try to stick with protein foods, and maybe have some pudding made with protein powder as a treat.

    Fainting spells

I have had them all my life. All of my fainting spells have had different reasons, so mine have never been able to narrowed down to just one real reason. Now that ive lost 95 pounds, I'm back to being light headed a lot. But my dr also just told me at my 6 month check up to eat more food, less of the Protein powders. As a general rule, I carry nuts on me at all times, their a quick pick me up. I should also say that I try to add in more sodium into my diet, that helps me out because my sodium levels have typically been low at the weight i'm at. Looking at my labs from last week, my sodium is at the lowest acceptable level. The sodium helps so my bp doesn't plummet quite so dramatically.
  20. K, so I'm wondering if anyone out here has figured out or decided that tracking your food causes too much anxiety or stress for yourself. I've been obsessive about it for years and had a revelation last night and this morning. I'm a control kind of girl. I feel stuck where I'm at, and I know it's more of a mental barrier. So my solution seems to stop tracking it ALL. Just eat until I feel satisfied and focus on Protein first. It's scary for me to think about tho. It's also super exciting to imagine the freedom associated with zero tracking...just listening to my tiny tummy. Anyone else deal with anything similar? I see my therapist monthly, but don't see her for 2 more weeks...which is why I'm bearing my soul to you all here. Thanks guys!
  21. Ok, so I have an update for anyone that was curious about this or interested. I stopped tracking and guess what happened?? I stopped waking up feeling bloated each morning, and I actually got the scale moving again. I'm going by what my sleeve tells me..versus what the tracker told me. Seems simple to some people, but to a control freak such as myself, letting go like I did was a giant step. I've even been snacking at night, which one of my nuts have said was a no no, and I'm seeing the scale move. Granted, I'm still choosing the Protein foods first, but still.
  22. I have to agree. Im 6 months today and can't do fruit either. Track and keep a log, see if you can narrow it down.

    Apparently I disappointed someone...

Glad I saw this post. I just got back onto Facebook last week. Just posted a current picture today. I've lost 95 and know there will be at least 1 person who will want to call me out on exactly how I did it. Reading threw this gives me some sort of confidence knowing how I will handle when that day comes.
  24. Ha! So glad im not alone! I haven't tracked aince before lunch today. Ao far so good. I feel lighter. We'll see in the morning tho!
