No bowel movement in 9 days!

Call. My dr told me no more than 4 days without a BM. You could be impacted, which isn't any fun.

Has anyone tried the Quest bars?

Thata why I began eating them. They definitely did help out yes, but since my overall food volume was so low, it wasn't daily..even with the fiber in them. I would have 2 per day for a while, and then have a bm every 4th day. But...I only had to take miralax one time. Most others have to take it regularly. I didnt and I credit the Quest bars.
  4. I had it when I was pregnant with both of my kids. I think its hormones...but I think it may vary from person to person. A few nights ago I couldn't fall asleep...ate a greek yogurt...fell rigjt asleep. It was hunger that time. But I don't like eating past 6pm.

    Tmi post..... Poop

If your on all liquids then no, its normal. Poop wont go to turd form until your eating solids. I had it for a good 2 months straight and my dr knew, saying you wont have a turd until your actually eating food again, and even then it will be every 3-4 days until you get your calories up to a good 800-1000 for most.

Has anyone tried the Quest bars?

Not at all...the fiber isn't the sort that will leave you in the bathroom stuck for hours. Unless you eat several a day. One a day won't make it move that fast threw your body.
  7. Glad you took some much needed time away! We all need it...I did the same thing for a while...after you guys vanished, things went a little too far south for me and it was then that I understood why you guys did it. Now, I've got things into perspective and I keep in mind what LipstickLady has said recently to several people regarding posting in public forums. That said, I still miss Laura. I really got the most out of her posts. I even went as far as to tell my therapist that I owed a good portion of my success to her and what she would post. I also took bits and pieces from LipstickLady, MadamRev., Gamergirl, and Butters. The 5 of you guys really are the secret to my success. You've all shown me that the surgery will only get you so far..that you still have to work it, be vigilant at all times, relax when you need too, and be willing to ask for input when it's needed.
  8. Yes, I still have that with occasional things. Not very often tho. It will pass...no clue what it is. I remember my husband telling me it was like I was pregnant again with the heightened senses.

    Stomach sleepers

1 week...if even that. I slept with a heating pad on my belly soon as I got home from hospital and by end of week 1 I was back on my tummy again.

    Over doing it

Nope, I had the belly pain off and on for the first 2-3 months. It goes away in time. I definitely had to take it easy until end of month 3. Then I turned a corner.

    Severe headache?

Its happened before. Most likely its just your body freaking out from the pre op diet and clear liquids now. Just try to drink more fluids and get some rest to get it to pass. Doubtful they postpone it, you'll be knocked out with good drugs anyhow so no worries!

    Daily calories

My program refuses to give us calorie totals to aim for. They follow the hunger trust model. Eat til your satisfied..no more. Within that are a few rules.. No more than 1 cup of food total per meal Hit Protein goal daily Protein first always Hit Fluid goals daily. Thats the guidance my program gives us.

    Starbuck drinkers?

Do you bring your owm protein powder or do they have some there?
  14. It happens yes. Mine changed, and many others have reported the same thing. I love spicy stuff now, before I couldn't handle spicy anything. I should also say that I have super sniffer nose powers. I could smell cheese 2 rooms over when I was first out from surgery. Its better now tho. The sight of any raw meat would make me gag for a period of time too.

    I'm freezing and so tired..

I don't think so. If I remember right, its a side effect to losing weight and possibly ketosis. I may be wrong about the ketosis thing tho, so...

    I'm freezing and so tired..

Hehe..I'm 7 months out on Tuesday and still going threw it. I don't mind it tho, gives me plenty of excuses to take a long hot bath..without my kids bugging me!

    staple line and dry heaves

I too vomited and dry neaved violently for a week post op. Nothing ruptured, but I still took it easy for a few weeks.
  18. Last time I saw my surgeon was as he was wheeling me back for my surgery back in October. It's a huge practice full of nurses that have all had one of the wl surgeries, bariatric doctors, pa that assist the surgeons. I feel very well taken care of in every way. That said, I've got a clear breakdown of what appts will taken place with whom and when layed out in my binder. Call the office and ask set your mind as ease sooner than later. It would drive me nuts not knowing either.

What to being to the hospital

Hey Lin! Congrats on your surgery date! There is a stickie thread that I read threw before my surgery. Its in the pre op section. I read threw each page to get a good idea of the range of things people brought and then decided from there. That said...I didnt bring much..chargers, spare extension cord, hair brush, lip stuff, deodorant. I wore my clothes I arrived in home since they were clean and I had only been in them a few hours at best. Make sure the pants are stretchy pants. I didn't bring my own night gown, as i just didnt care enough to change out of the hospital gown. You honestly don't need a whole lot. Once you get home tho, make sure you have gas x strips handy and a heating pad. The heating pad takes down the belly swelling and gas in no time at all. Have some flavored Water at home waiting for you..propep zero, Vitamin zero etc. Good luck on your journey!
