  1. My surgeon requires a 2 week pre op diet consisting only of liquid protein. I've been thinking of starting it early as well...but once I get my surgery date, I will decide. Very curious to hear more from some that are post op.
  2. So, got a call that I've been cleared for surgery but they said that I was getting 9 events per hour. She said I did NOT have sleep apnea tho. So what are the 9 events per hour then? I'm so confused...
  3. Is that a powder form base from Costco? If so, I'm definitely going to get some and doing exactly that post op!
  4. Their all documentaries about getting the best nutrition from natural food sources. Everything the human body needs to function can be found in raw natural states. Their real eye openers to anyone that doesn't want to spend an insane amount of time researching on their own. Definitely made a huge impact on my family and several others that I've gotten to watch the movies.
  5. I've watched all but the G miracle. Loved them all. Hubby and I revamped our diets, but all it did was make me sleep better..no weight loss. But at that point the sleeping great part was very well appreciated!

    Vsg In Minneapolis Area?

Here's my update...saw Dorothy, Jill the psyc, and Dr Demattia. I passed them all and next week I do day two of the half day appts. I see the Dr again to go over labs, work with Ptherapy for an hour and then the NUT for an hour. Working on my 3 day food log now, and I returned my at home sleep apnea machine last Thursday morning. Still waiting to hear back about the sleep study. Any Park Nicollet people, did it take forever for the sleep center to give you your sleep study result? Seems like its taking forever.
  7. Oooo, thanks for this! I don't do Facebook, so I miss some of these new things!
  8. I fell in love with Joe from Fat, Sick and nearly dead. Plan on doing this post op soon as I can, barring the NUTs approval.
  9. Belize! Thank you for your post on this thread! Very well written, and it truly hit home for me. I go next week, for the last 3 appts before I get to see the surgeon. Nerves and doubts have come and gone...but your last paragraph really nailed it. :-)
  10. It sounds like lactose intolerance to me as well. My nurse and nut told me almond milk is a waste for any WLS patient. It doesn't have the protein you need in it. They said stick with soy. I've got lactose intolerance so I've had to find soy protein powder, which isn't avail everywhere.

So you don't stay with the same nurse clinician then through out the process? How are you doing post op? Did they give you a pain pump in the hospital? I'm nervous about that part.

7 vials of blood given, passed the psyc eval, and saw both the nurse clinician and dr. The nurse smiled and said, "your half way through!". I see the physical therapist, nut, and dr next time and then they submit to ins. I'm very grateful to have an ins company that has very few requirements for this. It's real now!

    Vsg In Minneapolis Area?

I'm so glad I finally found this post! I go Wednesday for my first set of appts at Park Nicollet and see Dorothy and Dr Demattia. Pretty nervous, but more than ready to get this done! I'm not on Facebook, is there any avenue to chat with everyone beside that that are locals to MN?

    Anyone from Minnesota

Next week can't get here fast enough! According to my ins., I qualify alone with just my BMI of 42%. I am really hoping that the process goes fairly fast. I'm thinking that with the following done all next week that it just may..labs, psyh eval, bariatric nurse clinician, and then bariatric doctor. All in a 4 hour chunk. The nurse at the info meeting said nearly everyone has to do a sleep study, was that booked out pretty far? Thanks for responding! I'm obviously excited but also trying to keep a realistic set of expectations about this whole thing!

I go next week to Park Nicolet for my first 4 appts! Super excited too. They were booked a month out. I see another poster also went there. How was their process? I'm in the twin cities btw.
  18. I found the MN wls forum under social I think it is. You need a password to get in. How do you ask permission to join this? I'm on my iPad and nothing pops up anywhere to submit permission. Thanks!
  19. Hey gang! Looking for anyone in metro that can offer any insight into Park Nicolett bariatric center. Have my first 3.5 hour set of appointments on the 28th...I see Dr Demattia that day too. Won't see the surgeon until a later date it seems. Just wondering what your experience was there if nothing else. Thanks!

    BCBS of MA?

Thank you, you guys! Hoping its smooth sailing as well..would love to have it done in time to be able to wear something nice for holidays..but I'm sure that's wishful thinking!
  21. Thanks for asking this...I've been wondering also. I know everyone is different, but there had to be an average to go on!

    BCBS of MA?

Beginning! I've done the info meeting, sent in a huge packet of all my stuff. See the psyh, nurse clinician and bariatric dr all on the 28th in the morning along with labs. My ins does not require the diet, and states just a BMI 40+ or 35 with co-morbs. From what I've been reading, it almost seems too good to be true!
