Is anyone else having blood sugar issues since your sleeve?
gomekast replied to kitch101's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have had this issue since. But i was diagnosed with hypoglycemia before sugery when i was younger. I never learned how to manage it then..and forgot about it when i became so big ans constantly ate. Now, i focus on protein and fiber, but there are days i need to add in a snack of string cheese and nuts. -
I had Svendson and loved him! I chose first available because I wanted it done sooner rather than later. I had also heard he had a pretty good sense of humor and that is true. It's something I appreciate. Would highly recommend him to anyone. I was sleeved October 22, 2013. I'm down 84 pounds as of this morning. Love Candace my nurse, and most of the nuts are excellent too. I've had a great experience at PN, and I've been giving my 110% effort each and every step of the way. I only wish I had had it done sooner.

How much did you lose the first 3-4 months? I want to be out of the 200+ Club by summer.
gomekast replied to gohelpyourself's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most of us have seen your answers in other threads. Some would suggest you need a little more coaching than other people. You'll always get these responses...there really are many many whom come here and DO compare their results to others and it's just horrible to watch their downward spiral. So as much as you want to complain about being Enlightened and not needing it, your original post would suggest otherwise to any of us that have seen the troops pass threw here and then vanish. Their trying to show you they care. If you don't need that then great. But getting snippy in posts won't do you any favors. -
went to the ER with chest pains, guess what it was?

gomekast replied to starr1202's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've found the same thing as Madam. Once I up those 3 together the dizzy spells go away for me. -
Anyone else get irked at the newer Medifast weight loss commercials? ! Both people made a point to say.."I lost weight the RIGHT way on medifast.." Each time I have to quick mute the tv. It feels like their trying to shame us and I just see red for a few minutes. Anyone else?

Wow - this sucks
gomekast replied to GriffinSabine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh gosh...thats what my post op was similar too. Once I was home I slept with a heating pad on my belly. It brought the swelling right down in a week or so. It gets better. Hang in there and focus on healing and hydration! -
Not bragging but.....
gomekast replied to gohelpyourself's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Things don't get real until the numbness wears off internally. Until that happens, be sure you are measuring everything and following your program guidelines. Its very important to follow guidelines set by your dr like gman says. Youre at the stage where you won't be able to feel much down in your sleeve right now. -
4 months and just had shrimp today for tbe first time. Only took one big shrimp to fill me up tho. It was chewier than I remember shrimp being tho. Not a fan of it for that reason.

Are you able to take meds?
gomekast replied to Jen40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cream of mushroom soup. I had to crush one and take it quick...I would add in salty spoonful of the soup and I could get it down then. -
Are you able to take meds?
gomekast replied to Jen40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ha! I wasn't on any major life saving pills. They said they do that because the more pills you take early on, the more barfing and nausea the patients have. They just try to make it easier on the patient in that regard. -
Prevent/treat saggy skin after surgery?
gomekast replied to Curvy_Goddess's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck. -
Gas x strips and walking! I made my hubby stop at cvs on the way home from hospital to get those while he was getting my pain meds. Took them religiously for about a week. I also forced my fsmily to deal with me going with to the store. .even tho I walked slow as a turtle. Wiped me out for sure...but I did it. We also live in a large apt building and our place is one of the farthest away from the elevator..so I had a lot of walking just to go anywhere.

Oink oink before pre-op liquids?
gomekast replied to nelle1230's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have to agree with this. We all got to our breaking point, which is why we are getting wls...right? So I started my pre op diet 4 days early. I was just sick and tired of all the crap food. I was ready for the journey to begin. So it did. I'm glad I started it early. I feel it really set me up for success..even if I didn't lose much weight, which wasn't the point anyways. But..day of surgery came and I was more than 200% sure of my choice. Why? Because I had given up food. Didn't have a funeral for it..I wanted to FEEL that power over it..rather than it have power over me. Enough years had gone by of that and I really felt empowered. I knew I was ready...I was excited to have Protein shakes for a month after surgery. I'm now almost 4 months(next week) post op and I've lost 80. Do I miss food? NO WAY! I love the feeling of power and control WAY more than the feeling any food anywhere had given me. That my friends, is a magical golden moment...for me at least. -

I wasn't allowed pills until week 8. Check with your nurse or surgeon, each has their own rules on this. -

1 day post op- dry heaving? Help!
gomekast replied to wwled's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the dry heaves for the first 3 days. I also don't react well to anesthesia. Never have. But once most of it was out of my system, a nurse coached me to drink my first ounce. Its not fun...but you'll make it threw. One hour at a time. I should also add this...I barfed my way threw the leak test. They had to do it fast cause I kept barfing and heaving over and over. -
Oh, salad for me now is like a decadent treat! Add a little thousand island Walden farms natural sugar/carb free dressing. Its still everything I hoped for!

gomekast replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums

If you know youre a food addict, I would say find a therapist ASAP. Start going soon as you can. I had 8 years under my belt at the time of my surgery and altho it wasn't planned that way..I know that it prepped me for this journey in every way. My therapist really has helped me overcome a lot..food addiction being one. Good luck abd congrats on getting your date!
