  1. I agree it's a good idea to take some or all saline out but the scope would have to break/tear through the lining of the stomach before it could damage the band. I'd think ripping through the lining of the stomach would be just a little more troubling than damaging the band.

I meant to write area of the band. It's why I wear a med I'd Bracelet with it. I was recently in a situation where I was in so much pain I couldn't open my mouth without puking. So that bracelet helped me explain my band before they stuck that tube down my throat. And my surgeon was called

  2. I had surgery in end of November 2013 and have had two adjustments last one was 5 weeks ago. I've lost 46 lbs and I can eat approx 1/2 cup to 1 full cup of food. Or more depending on what it is (sliders try to avoid) all of a sudden in the last week I'm getting heart burn after I eat (none a night) I don't think I'm eating spicy food so I'm baffled. I thought at first it was sore throat because I get reflexive swallowing since banding (allergies I think) I don't know what's going on. Anyone else go thru this?

  3. Right a bunch of roid heads have opinions on WLS that matter? In reference to the article itself: Wow people really need to not comment on things they have absolutely no understanding of. As I've learned it's one thing to be thought of as foolish and quite another to open your mouth and prove it.

  4. Omg I went through this with my own mom. First thing out of her mouth was oh please don't you'll die. And that's how it went every conversation till i told her until she's carried my weight to shut the f up. I'd be dead before fifty remaining this way so what's the diff? She's more supportive now after I've done it and loves to hear of any loss. Don't sweat it she'll get over it. ESP after she sees results.

  5. I just wanted to share how thing are going since banding back. n November. So I've lost 33 lbs which is great but I pray it speeds up or at least doesn't stop. I am eating less have a whole list of foods I've tried that the Beast won't tolerate. I've had one fill about two weeks ago and now I'm down to a 1/2 cup of food. I eat more than that and it's a world of pain for me. I feel full for hours but I'm still battling head hunger in earnest. I wonder constantly am I doing this right? I eat till I feel full which is approximately when the hunger stops. I struggle with slowing down still and taking smaller bites (alot of eating on the go to undo) I pray constantly that I don't screw this up because I truly don't want to have to do any kind of further WLS if I can avoid it. I'm thankful for the support group here. Was curious about how your journey is going?

  6. My doc won't tell me how much is in there or how much he recovered or put in. Im kinda aggravated but maybe it's a good thing. He knows im very inquisitive about all thing medical and ESP my band. I think he doesn't want me to be obsessive about it? Im not really that way just curious really. I don't know, I feel that this is mine and I have a right to know but he won't tell. I love him to pieces but this is annoying me.

  7. My doc said no but not why but four things occurred to me

    1. Can you imagine if you accidentally swallowed it? It would block the stoma. Not a pleasant thought.

2 chewing gum gets your stomach juices going and may make you feel hungry (I do when I chew)

3 chewing gum causes gas ESP the sugar free. Same with mints.

4 with all the chewing you must do with the band why add extra stress with gum (I have TMJ preband so gum is off limits)

  8. Im sorry that happened. Call your insurance Co and ask for Bariatric docs in your network. If self pay look up same in you surrounding area. It doesn't hurt to ask questions so call and ask if he/she does that kind of repair. Good luck and prayers it goes well for you. I have a little hiatal hernia too but it was known before surgery.

  9. Wow, really? I also have Humana, but I'm required to do the 6 months..I have been trying to lose weight with my pcp since 2006..he had me on weight lost pills in 2009..I wonder if I can use that time frame as my 5 year of overweight. .

I bet you can, worst they can do is say no. The docs office started to tell me no you need a year supervised before I sort of pitched a fit. They said let me see came back with the green light. I wish you the best of luck
