I've read some real doozies of attacks on the band and at first it made me nervous about the choice I made then I started thinking 1. I have God on my side who is with me every step of the way and I believe lead me to my decision. 2. He lead me to a wonderful surgeon who has performed this surgery on at least 2000 people and with an extremely high success rate (yes I did my research) 3. It's up to me to be successful with WLS I need to follow the rules for it and I'm actually happy that I've the risked I do with this as to me it's a lessor evil. But that's me. 4. and finally Im newly banbed and I don't have time for hater drama I'm too busy concentrating on my own success.

Hi, I was banded the same day. When you say progress do you mean weightloss? If that's the case give yourself a break your 3 weeks post and still healing. My surgeon said (and everyone is different in what stage they progress) that he doesn't care if I lose before my first fill on January 10th. He said to focus on stage he put me at and keep healing. Don't worry it will get better the mushies won't be forever. And you don't want to make calories from liquids a habit.

I've got two NSV. I could zip up my winter coat this year, last it didn't fit and my stomach doesn't touch the steering wheel in the car anymore more! Down 21 lbs

That makes sense. Every meal I have has protein and I've made all kinds of beans a staple (like my new mashed potato) I also have 1/2 a protein bar for breakfast.

I used it twice and then I was fine p.s. It says you can take 2 to 4 TBSP don't take the 4 will give violent diarrhea.

Omg!!! I m 3 days post OP and twice today I've have hiccups. Outside of surgical pain and gas pain, worst pain ever!!!! Good golly I wanted to scream.

Mine is like that he's worried I'll lose it all.

Thank you, yes I'm.doing well (except my incisions sting now after 2 weeks) no one is more happy than me about that lol I will say that the hospital expects me to pay a 250 deductible (which would be if I stayed in the 23 hour observation) but since they bullied me out I am writing letters now. They can go spit.

I think it would be good to post your surgery day experience to kind of prepare those that come after us. Mine was good but with a bit of a twist this was mine: I got Banded on Nov 22 2013 I checked into the hospital at 730 in the morning. The took me to pre OP and have me all my stuff gorgeous gown, non slip granny socks and that ever so stylish cap for my head. I was the height of surgical fashion. I stayed there for a while and they brought in several people to talk to about their role in my surgery. Then they sent in the nurse who would start my IV. Now this was fun let me tell you. Now you can't drink or eat after midnight before so you come in dehydrated. So starting and IV was a problem 3 painful attempts and I was good to go. Next came the Chaplin to make sure I was ok and to pray with me he was a nice guy and made me cry over why I'm doing this. Then came in my surgeon Dr Shayani. Love him, he is awesome came in cracked a few jokes with me told me what was going to happen and what I need to do post OP for a week. He wished me well and said he'd see me soon. Next came the most evil shot a Heprin shot (blood thinner) the stuff goes into the upper arm and stings like a beast. But only for a few mins. Then came the anistiologist (I'm sorry I can never spell that right) who told me what he was going to do and injected into my IV something the nurse said would keep me calm. They came to wheel me to the OR and my hubby kissed me goodbye. Once I got to the OR they we're setting up and I was starting to panic a little. Dr Shayani asked me what kind of music I wanted to hear and I told him KLove the anesthesiologist said he wanted Rock they started to argue about it. Lol I don't remember anything after that. I came to with a nice nurse speaking encouragingly to me and as soon as I was more aware she gave me ice chips. Now here's where it got a little scary I couldn't swallow the chips. she assured me I was but I couldn't feel it one bit. That is a suffocating feeling. It lasted at least 15 mins they got the anesthesiologist and he explained they numbed my throat for the tube they used on me. By the time he was there it was getting better. After a little more time they wheeled me into a room where my hubby could see me. I spent about a half an hour more then they started kicking me out. This is the only dark spot in the experience. Shayani said only go home if I feel good. And I sooo was not ready. They kept pushing me and telling me to get dressed and my husband to call a taxi. They took out the IV and the leg things they use for circulation. They waited in front of my bed with a wheel chair arguing with me I kept telling them I wasn't ready when I complained that I was dizzy and nauseous they said well you just had surgery. I was livid. They wheeled into the lobby and left me there I could barely get into the cab the driver asked me what was wrong when I told her I just had surgery her jaw hit the floor. I had to get into the front and this sweet lady helped me get out along with my hubby. When I got my coat off my shirt was really bloody my incisions were bleeding a bit to make a mess but not profusely. I called my surgeon. He said he was just going to call to check on me. I told him what happened and he was upset. He asked me if I wanted to pursue action. I said yes. I was terrified over what happened I didn't get any warning over this may happen and that it's normal (the seeping) Shayani was a sweetheart he reassured me I was ok and asked me to email him updates in a day or two and gave me his cell # in case was necessary. He was very cool. I told him everything going on with me and he said I was doing very well. We only had one time were we had to talk on the phone because he wanted further clarification. Overall I had a good experience with the exception of the end. I love my surgeon and the people involved before that were wonderful. I hope this helps I know not everyone has the same experience this was mine I would say that had I been more coherent I would have fought tooth and nail. So if that should happen to you fight. You should not go home scared. Good luck to you.

I wouldn't panic about that yet. If it's like that then its like an H.M.O, H.M.O's only pay an agreed upon price for example my hospital care cost $24500 my insurance paid $12250. My cost is my $250 deductible. These doctors are all familiar with that kind of pay scale. I imagine the new system with operate with agreed upon prices similar to an H.M.O

That's the truth yesterday was his birthday and later he had a second piece of cake after everyone left. (it was a super small piece that I declined earlier too) and I didn't even blink about it. That was a great feeling.

He ecstatic that I want to be healthy and is being very supportive. Not one complaint about the special diet I've had to be on and he a complainer. He's been considerate of me when eating things he knows will trip me up like candy he won't eat it in front of me. He's also trying follow the,rules my doctor gave me. It's nice that I don't have to argue about this with him. He's been supportive since the day I said I wanted to do this.

My doctor is also Shayani in Bolingbrook he's really nice and I pray he's always in my network PS if you have questions and concerns he answers email. He asked me for updates during my recovery. Of which I am two weeks post OP

I have Humana H.M.O and my BMI was 59 by the time I went for approval. I didn't have any trouble getting approved

I have a Humana H.M.O thru my job. It pays for the surgery minus $250. And since I have a 5 year history battling wieght with a doctor I didn't have to go thru a six month supervised diet it was Aug to Nov to get the surgery with me fulfilling the surgeons requirements. I am so grateful for Humana because I got a load of what it cost today and I'd go bankrupt if I paid that. Good luck to you

My doc said 6 weeks after surgery. I'm scheduled for January 10th for my first fill I'm two weeks post and my appetite is back and feel hungry alot can't wait

I'm a week post OP and I don't know I feel strange not sure if it's normal. I've been doing my liquids and I think I'm either taking too much or too fast or both. After I take anything I feel like there is a lump low in my thoat and there is dull ache in the middle of my back. Anyone else experience this?

I was terrible the day after my mom called me said I scared her I sounded weak, well I just had surgery. As a matter of fact I was on the couch sitting up with my feet propped up. Four days. I admit I don't handle pain well so I couldn't breath past it for nearly a week. Quite the experience but one I'd gladly repeat if necessary.

Im 15 days post OP I had quite a bit of pain in that first week I used my pain meds and walked alot. I could feel the band in my back because they stitch your stomach around it. I felt that. Also I get random hiccups that were extremely painful but that is fading as I heal. Some of the incisions still hurt a little as I sometimes bump them into my desk. I can feel my port when I press a little but it doesn't hurt anymore it's funny with the incisions came alot of bruising around the sites but that was just me everyone is diff. I did see my surgeon a couple of days ago and he said im healing very well and im feeling better every new day. Everyone is different and heals differently some faster than others. I know for me I'd do again in a heartbeat. Good luck to you.
